  1. Yeah, they lost me when they were reporting 9 for us earlier. Uh, no. 9 is normal wind here.
  2. We keep hopping between DC (which gets a little dicey), Baltimore and the Salisbury stations. They're all pretty much saying the same thing. (And none of them seem to realize there's a whole lot more to the eastern shore than OC, though Salisbury does report on the islands) Eta: Channel 2 has a decent current update, and the 7 weather channel (7-2 with our antenna) is updating continuously. 2 is saying they're expecting it to park over central PA tomorrow. Wow, you're thrashing us in rainfall by 2"! We've had about 6.5, and have sandy, quick draining soil over here. (Hence all the corn)
  3. Um, yes, probably. I really don't think having things snipped out of the inside of your face is a picnic at any point, but I think younger kids probably do better.
  4. Mine liked Monopoly when they were 6ish. They needed a little help with the money, but enjoyed the play. Trouble? Blockus?
  5. Yeah, right now it seems those of us to the south of it seem to be getting the worst of the rain/snow, and those to the north are getting the worst of the wind.
  6. I had my tonsils and adenoids out when I was 16. It sucked. A lot. I remember lying on the couch, sucking Tylenol w/ codeine out of the bottle with a straw for days.
  7. No it hasn't. It's become a "post tropical cyclone" which means the eye is cold instead of warm, but the winds are still 90mph. I doubt your worst is over. They're predicting it coming inland and turning left to go straight up the coast. If it hasn't already, it will be making landfall shortly.
  8. We have a Brother MFC-490CW that does everything, but does not have auto duplexing. We also have the HL-2280, which is a b&w laser with auto duplexing, but no fax. Both are wifi and I can print from my phone, which is lovely. I buy ink and toner from SuperMediaStore.com and they've been dirt cheap and very reliable for several years.
  9. The kids have been enjoying a Beaver marathon today. Right now, we're watching Dick van Dyke. Thanks for the reminder, Jean, and the Netflix heads-up, Jessica. It's added great fun to Storm Watch 2012. :D PS June was in her nightgown and robe in The Haircut. ;)
  10. Winds are picking up quite a bit here. Looks like we're expecting a major pickup in the next few hours. Weirdly, we just watched the weather update on DC 9 & 7, which we get via antenna. Crazy.
  11. Archaic here, too. Mine are all up in their rooms by 8. They can read until 8:30 or 9. The 11 yo (7th grader) has a Touch, and I have our wifi set to block her from 9:00 until 8 am, so she can listen to Pandora or text til then. Nobody's complained yet.
  12. Oh my goodness, Faithe! We're just a couple of miles on the MD side of the line, and are just having regular eastern shore rain right now. (With power and cell service... In fact, our antenna tv is still picking up) I hope they're all safe and can get in touch soon!
  13. What a completely scary situation. :grouphug: On the other hand, I am super impressed with the OB and staff. Kudos to them for taking a leap in less than ideal circumstances for the safety of mama and baby.
  14. Everyone slept in their beds last night here, too. The wind was still calm. We'll drag the kids' mattresses to the living room tonight.
  15. Yup. We've planned lots of storm cleaning and craft projects.
  16. Awesome! I feel a storm marathon coming on! (As long as power and internet hold out, of course.)
  17. I've always loved that show. And I never thought the parents were the vapid, spineless robots they've been made out to be. I wish my house was that clean. Of course, June didn't have internet, so...
  18. Chicken pox? Pityriasis rosea? I would tend to agree with the mono rarity at that age. It's not airborn, so unless he's drinking out of other people's drinks... Plus, are his glands swollen in a chain down his neck? That's typical for mono. My SIL has developed scarlet fever without a sore throat more than once, though, so...
  19. Wow. Really? It's been raining here (mid-shore, about 4 miles from DE) all day. Still nothing fancy, though.
