  1. And I'd be interested in your first impression once you've received the package. I have a 13 yr dd who would really like to do this.
  2. But this program is quite expensive. I am surprised that no one on these forums has bought this program. Usually, no matter how obscure something seems, someone has had experience with it. I don't think it's brand new because I first saw it over a year or two ago.
  3. The dvd they sent me definitely piques my interest but I also know how these things go. Looks great in theory but in reality not so much. That's why I'm hoping someone has some personal testimony about this product.
  4. I am thinking about this for one or maybe two of my children. I'm wondering if anyone has personal experience using this program.
  5. My dh and I bought it after my parents retired and left our town. It was just a good idea at the time because we were newly married and the housing market was very low in this town at that time. So we bought our house from parents at fair market price. It was weird at first (for me) but overall it was a good decision all those years ago.
  6. Unbelievable faith. I was very glad I spent the time to listen to Rachel's talk.
  7. I'm interested in other titles as well as comments about the books already mentioned.
  8. As for sitting in the front seat . . . only two of mine are old enough so they get alternating days.
  9. I'm actually reading Prodigal Summer by Kingsolver (I thought I had picked up Poisonwood Bible at our library book sale but when I went downstairs to get it it was actually Prodigal Summer.)
  10. I have been inundated with a lot of home school reading lately so I'm going to buckle down and carve out some "pleasure" reading in my schedule (not that I don't enjoy my other reading).
  11. It works great. Mind you we probably only use it a few times a year but for that purpose it works great. I think ours is a Rival.
  12. My daughter's first performance/recital is tomorrow night. Dancing is a new sport for her. I didn't even think of a gift for the teacher or for that matter flowers for my daughter (which would make her so very happy). Thanks for the heads up.
  13. This has worked for me. It has helped me to make a lifestyle change that I can stick with.
  14. It's a large one, because we have a Bernese Mountain dog, but it has a divider for when they're pups.
  15. It's good to hear that others have children that might stretch the logic age beyond traditional limits. I think I'll wait a bit before starting Traditional Logic and maybe do a couple of other things first.
  16. But I share your feeling about Waring and given the comments other's have posted about David Hazell I am unlikely to rush out to hear him. I understand that some genuinely nice people may come across poorly in a public forum BUT then I think they're not a good choice. I am very interested in the Sommerville's given that I use TOG.
  17. We are reading through Fallacy Detectives and have The Art of Argument but truthfully my kids weren't ready for it early this year. Maybe I should do the Art of Argument first?
  18. It'll give me some things to think about as we enter the high school years. It's kind of funny. A few years ago I was wondering if it would be easy to tell what careers my children would be slanted to. Now they're finishing Grade 7 and I am getting some pretty clear ideas of their talents and strengths. I know this can all change but I really want to guide them and structure their learning towards what they will likely end up doing. Thanks for these suggestions. I'm open to more.
  19. If you have a child that you think will be an entrepreneur what subjects would you think are most important for this endeavour?
  20. It's not my nature to take the easy path but I think for a moment today that's what I wanted to do. He is fully capable so I shouldn't short change him. I do recognize that my other children, who will more likely enter professions that will require heavy usage of language arts, will spend more time on some of these subjects but I want him to have a solid foundation. Thanks for these suggestions.
