  1. I agree with letter factory, my 4yo LOVES it, also try starfall. My son loves starfall also and you can print out the little books they use on the website for extra practice.
  2. Can you renew them. Or you could try and order a book and then a week later order the same book again so they come in at different times and you have the book you need for a longer time. Also depending on how long you use one book you can just order them in order but wait a week or so to order the next book on your list. I am always ordering books from different libraries and I know what you mean about them coming out of order.
  3. We will be doing math and reading daily. Also we will be doing 3 unit studies that will take 2 weeks each. So about 3 hours a day. They also will be doing football, cheerleading, vbs, and swimming throughout the summer. I am trying to keep it light and fun for my kids this summer.
  4. Thank you for the reminder, we did this last year and i just enrolled for this comming year!!!!
  5. Thanks this is exactly what I need. I am one of those people who never got fractions and decimals so I need something that will really help him understand.
  6. Which one of these is better? I am looking for something that will teach the concepts to my son, and that is easy to follow. He will be in 4th and is using saxon 54 for his main math program. Thanks
  7. My son is 9 (10 in Nov.) and he pretty much is capable of doing anything I ask, but his responsibilities are the trash, taking care of the dog, keeping the kids bathroom clean, helps with laundry(he knows how to do it on his own), washes dishes, sweeps, mops, vacuums, dusting, ect. He doesnt do everything on a daily basis, but they are all part of his responsibilities. I am a firm believer that if you live under this roof your contribute to the upkeep of our home. I have a 7 year old dd, and a 4 year old ds that are also included in the household upkeep.
  8. Instead of buying everything all at once, I am getting 1-2 things every payday, I will do that until I have everything I need for my 4th, 2nd, and K'er. I plan on using the library A LOT so that will cut down cost in buy books. My total budget for my children is $400. Oh yeah and I buy used. I rarely buy anything new. I love Ebay and Amazon!!!!
  9. We are going to be using MEP this year. I really like that program.
  10. http://www.abebooks.com/ is also one that i have used.
  11. Youtube videos. I like to watch them to get ideas, but there are some that tell you step by step what to do so that might help.
  12. Well I don't know how much help I can be because I love to cook (and I am a great cook) but I think a good way is to go and get a few easy cookbooks (I love going to thrift stores for them) and just pick a few recipies and start cooking. My son is 9 and can make quiet a few things and my daughter who is almost 7 is learning to read recipies and proper measurments and helping me out a lot. Make it fun maybe you will discover a hidden chef inside of you.
  13. I just moved to Roanoke, VA and was wondering if there are any homeschoolers around here?
  14. Thanks I will check all of those out.:001_smile:
  15. As I am researching my curriculum options for 2012-2013 I came across fiar, and beyond fiar and it looks really interesting, but is there anything like this that is free? My children going to be K, 2nd, and 4th.

  21. I will be hs my ds who will be doing kindergarten work this year. I am looking for some things to make his learning experience fun. I previously hs my 2 older kids for a short time and will be continuing with them this coming year(they are in ps right now) but i never did kindergarten, so this is all new to me. I also love reading blogs so if anyone has any kindergarten blogs with ideas that would be great also.
