  1. I've done it too! The funniest was when my kids were smaller, and we were preparing breakfast, and I was talking loudly (I was tired and annoyed) as I was moving around the kitchen. I said, "I slept with J last night, I slept with T last night, I slept with C last night, I even slept with A last night. The only person I didn't sleep with was Daddy!" The lady on the call with my dh LOL. :D
  2. Good one! I mean really...we are just preparing our children for the real world. As many point out, no one will be holding their hand and coddling them as a grown up, right? I like to use the words hooligans, wild animals, lollygagging, and that there will be no mollycoddling. Makes me sound intelligent to others when they see my children running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
  3. Normal mom speak here to most of the above phrases!;)
  4. Mine too! Most of my friends know what dh stands for, since they are on boards, as well.
  5. I am not a coutry fan, LOL, so I don't know those songs. Anita Baker's I love you just because and Nickelback's Far Away always pull at my mom heartstrings. I belt them out to the kids while driving to keep back the tears, and they just roll their eyes at me. I always feel the love, cause I know it's the response to my terrible singing, not the heartfelt song lyrics. :D
  6. Me! I am going to rotate through literature genres, science themes, and tie in SS here and there, all through trade books, comprehension activites, writing, and lots of hands on exploring. I am excited!
  7. There are some really wonderful thoughts, memories, and advice on this thread. Thanks to the OP for starting it. It has really helped with some of the thoughts I have had on the topic recently. :001_smile:
  8. I am having the same debate, right now, OP. I am going to go with a laptop, next. I think I am done with the big clunkers. I will keep my full size keyboard, speakers, and screen, to use, as needed.
  9. 10 if we/I am motivated. We are not strict schedule people.
  10. I like them all. Writing is hardest, because they don't always like it, and Reading comes easiest to me.
  11. I iron so rarely, but it's not hard, and they see me. They know what an iron is for. I'm sure the kids will learn one day, though they might not have to/choose to iron frequently when they are older.
  12. Explore myself...I want to know how they (men) work/feel.
  13. Together over 20 years. Absolutely adore the man (most of the time!) and am so proud and awed at what he has accomplished, what kind of man he continues to be, and how much love he shares with his family. :001_wub:

Daily-laundry, dishwasher, pickup as needed, cat, dog, other Laundry, dishes from table, feed dog/cat, clean up outside toys, other Mon- vacuum/mop downstairs/clean bath Clean up all downstairs toys, vacuum Tues-vacuum/mop upstairs/baths Clean up all upstairs toys Wed- sheets and towels/grocery shopping Take sheets off, help make beds, act appropriately when shopping Thurs- monthly task, see following: Week1-with magic eraser, clean all tubs and showers, wash bath mats Free day Week2- pay, organize, and file bills Leave me along, as bills are frustrating and time consuming. J Week3-dust downstairs (incl. fans, doors, baseboards, furniture) and wash walls and appliances, as needed Dust Week4-dust upstairs (everything) dust Fri- vacuum/mop downstairs/clean bath Clean up downstairs, vacuum Sat- upstairs baths/windex Windex My school chart is literally Math Phonics Writing Reading each in different color, LOL. Because we only do the 4, and we incorporate ss and science through our literature, they know what they/we are supposed to accomplish, daily. Our Math and Phonics are Saxon, so scripted, and no lesson plans needed. Our reading and writing work together, and I plan for each unit ahead of time and have it at hand, in a binder/folder. I can't deal with a lot of planning, organizing for a lesson, etc. I need to have materials easily accessable to my table, and I just grab the things needed, as I call a kid (kids) over. They often work on the computer or do arts/crafts, science experiments, play outside, when they are not working with me.
  15. I have a chart of what we need to accomplish academically each day, and a chart for daily chores, just so that as I walk by it again...and again...and again, LOL I continue to remind myself to STAY on TASK!!! I do have it all in my head, though. Multicolor visuals are just...so me. I just don't have a set time during the day, that each thing is done. If it doesn't get done that day, I do make sure it is done by the end of the week, or I will be so overwhelmed with back up stuff/work/chores. So my "schedule" for academics: math, writing, phonics, reading comp. I have a schedule of chores for each of us to accomplish each day, as well. Vacuum/mop down on Mon., vacuum/mop up Tues., grocery shopping and sheets Wed. etc. I'm not willing to give up the flexibility to meet up with friends, go to hs groups, park days, field trips, hs library time, a day I need to get everyone shoes. I have no problem doing school work on weekends, when DH is building something outside, or having them do work in the car, waiting areas, etc.
  16. You all get up soooo early!!!! We are forcefully rolling ourselves out of bed no sooner than 8:30, usually. Even when I worked full time, and/or had the kids in ps, I didn't get up as early as you all. I am so not a morning person.
  17. :bigear: because ours is wake up, and decide what to do.
