  1. I'm sorry you are having these fears of complications. It is possible to have a large family without experiencing loss/miscarriage, though. Dh & I are expecting baby #7 and I have never had a miscarriage or any complications (other than a slight drop in baby's heart beat during labor with dc #5). Try to focus on the positive, and know that God will never give you anything you cannot handle with His help.
  2. Yep, red Converse tennis shoes. I wear them w/ jeans or whatever. :D (probably not the kind of shoes you were thinking about...but they bring out the kid in me)
  3. We don't do many extra curricular things. It's really hard when you are a large family on a tight budget. We try to do something every now and then, but even then it is usually just one child at a time. We did manage, however, to put 3 dc into gymnastics and 1 in ballet for a year. We had the opportunity to trade cleaning the gym every week for "free" classes. It worked out really well and the kids learned responsibility and felt a sense of accomplishment working for something they wanted to do. I know this wont work for everyone, but it was great the year we were able to do it.
  4. LOL! Oops, I didn't realize I had posted the same question. I guess life is just a little bit too crazy around here right now! Thank you.:D
  5. Does anyone know what changes have been made between the 2005, 2007 & current 2009 editions of Math U See Geometry? I'm trying to decide if one is "better" than the others.
  6. Does anyone know the difference between the 2005, 2007 and current editions of MUS Geometry? I'm trying to figure out which student materials are compatible with which teacher materials.
  7. Congratulations!! Wishing you the best! I wouldn't worry about getting married young...it just means you have that much more time to spend together, right? Dh was 19 & I was 18 when we were married...we've been married for 17+ years now and goin' strong. I hope you have a great wedding, and enjoy many, many years together!
  8. Yep, got ours last week! The kids are excited to start earning their pizzas! :D
  9. Punch him in the nose, back hand him in the face, put a brick in my purse and start swinging...I think you get the picture, and by the time I was through, he would get the idea that his actions were NOT acceptible!!!
  10. Nope, no changes yet. We just finished week 1, though. However, Sonlight Core 100 is not going as well as I hoped it would. I'm hoping we just have to work through the first several weeks and get used to it...we'll see. But I am loving everything else so far! :D
  11. Absolutely! If someone threatens my family I would do whatever it takes to keep them safe (I am talking physically threatening, as in breaking into my house, trying to do bodily harm etc)! It would not be my intention to kill, but to injure or put the creep out of commission yes. However, it would totally depend on the situation and if killing were the only option, then so be it. I hope and pray that I am never put in this position, but God help the creep that tries to mess with my family!!!
  12. UGH!! I'm right there with you. We have the same problem. Just add HUGE, LOUD potty mouths to the cigarettes and that's our neighbors. We have had to move the kids outside toys to the other side of our house because it has gotten so bad!
  13. Just finished our 1st week and I'm almost freaking out because it went so smooth (all in the midst of potty training and preparing for a new baby in about 3 months)! Everyone has stayed on task, gotten all work (and most of the household chores) done every day and had time to spare! I'm almost scared to say this out loud for fear it will all change next week. Here's hoping, praying and staying positive that just maybe, we have finally gotten the hang of this homeschooling thing!LOL!!
  14. Yep, thats what I'm trying to figure out. I'm not sure if I have all of my suffix and prefix tiles that came with my level 3 & 4 student packets. I cannot find a list of individual tiles. I emailed AAS last night, but havent heard back from them yet. I thought maybe someone on this board could help me out.?.
  15. Ok, maybe I'm making this harder than it has to be...but I don't see the suffix or prefix tiles that come with levels 3 & 4. Am I just blind?
  16. That would definately not work here. My older 3 are getting pretty independent, but I still check their work regularly, help with certain assignments, and have to "encourage" them to stay on task from time to time. My youngers would just play all day long. I'm all for teaching your kids to be independent, but kids need guidance to some degree, in my opinion. Thats why God gave them parents...to guide and teach them. Not to just hand them a stack of books and expect them to be motvated student and teacher. Just my thoughts...
  17. Have her go to the Sonlight website and look at the instructor guide updates. There you can see all the changes that have been made to specific cores year by year. It would be easier, in my opinion, to make a decision (older or newer IG) knowing how much/what has changed.
  18. Does anyone have or know where to find a list of the individual tiles that come with AAS (specifically levels 1-4)? I'm trying to divide my tiles back out into the individual student packs and I'm not sure how to tell if I am missing any. Thanks so much for any help you can offer.
  19. Thanks for the ideas...I had thought of Notgrass before (since she enjoyed their World History books last year), but they don't seem to come cheap...I will have to wait until I can build up some more $$ before that would be an option. I hadn't thought about the library. I will check and see what I can find the next time we are there. Pammy, what Sonlight forum is that link on? Is it one of the free access ones (I don't have access to any of the others)? Thanks again for the suggestions...keep them coming if you think of anything else. :001_smile:
  20. Hi all, we are a couple weeks into Sonlight's Core 100 and dd is really not liking the Hakim books (which was one of my concerns). She is willing to continue on with them if there is no other option, but I don't want her to stop liking history just because of these books. She really enjoyed the Notgrass World History books she used last year in MFW WHL...So, does anyone have any suggestions for me? Is there something (preferably inexpensive since our budget is VERY tight) that I can substitute for the Hakim books? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :001_smile:
  21. I think it totally depends on the child and the parent. My kids helped dh put a new roof on our house when they were 8 & 11 (even dd4 got up there once or twice, but dh was always right beside her as she "helped."
  22. Oh boy...and I thought after 6 kids nothing could be new. I guess I may be in for a wild ride...not sure what to expect, but still really excited to find out. I think my kids are all still kind of in shock that it will be a boy. They thought we were following a pattern and this next one would be a girl (although the boys really hoped for another brother). Hahaha!
  23. We just found out that it will be a "little brother" joining us this winter! We are so excited! I just had to share. :D
  24. Nance, I'm praying for a safe pregnancy and delivery of a new little one for you. I can't imagine what you are going through. Praying that God blesses you with a little one to love. :grouphug:
