  1. Oooh, I'll have to tell DH about this! He could leave a bit early for work since he passes a Denny's on his way there.
  2. I just wouldnt risk it. I'm paranoid about stuff like that. We have one of these and it is really neat! It can even come off the base so that you can carry it on mid-night potty breaks too. http://www.amazon.com/MOBI-70175-TykeLight-Portable-GloMate/dp/B001HKPHYQ
  3. My kids call my parents Mimi and Poppy (they felt they were too young for grandma and grandpa LOL). They call my grandparents Nana and Pop-Pop because that's what I call both sets of my grandparents. And they call DH's parents New Nana and Pap (per his request). And they call his stepmom Grandma.
  4. My 4 year old calls him Daddy.....my almost two year old calls him Da-Da. My sisters and I call ours Daddy. Our grandfathers are Pop-Pop. My girls call my dad Poppy and DH's dad Pap (per his request).
  5. Why did I'm come across this thread as I'm eating a bag of M&M's? LOL
  6. I like McDuff that someone mentioned. From the McDuff series of childrens books about a Westie! We just got a puppy and we named him Biscuit. And we have another dog named Chase. Chase seems like it would fit a Westie well. I've always wanted to name a mischevious little puppy Stitch. I also like Parker for a dog. Or I could look at my favorite TV Show....Lost. Then there would be Jack, Locke, Sawyer, Faraday, Miles, Ben, Hurley, Sayid, Eko, Charlie, Desmond, Boone, etc.
  7. I'm a photographer, so of course I have a DSLR. But I also have my point and shoot for when I dont want to "focus" on my settings but just whip it out and shoot. I have tried MANY MANY point and shoot cameras and just didnt like too many of them. I finally settled on the Sony H50. While it is not compact, I'm happy with the image quality. Not up to my DSLR standards, but I'm satisified. And the zoom is great at 15x optical (ignore the digital zoom, it doesnt matter, you want to look at optical). And it feels very solid and easy to hold.
  8. I have heard of masitis in non-nursing women. But that is odd to have it twice. I had mastitis when I was nursing my first DD. She was 13 months old at the time. It was the sickest I have ever been in my life. I felt horrible....so I know where you are coming from. I hope you get some answers!
  9. Sorry, I think I would just back out of this one as gracefully as possible. It was wrong and insensitive what they did. It's a joint trip so it should have been a joint decision on where to stay, etc. Just explain to them that your family was expecting a week-long vacation and that's what you would still like to do.
  10. Yep...its legal. My sister works at a vet and she's always bringing home some sort of IV to give to some animal she has.
  11. My sisters and I call our mother "Mama" and we spell it that way too.
  12. We have a dedicated school area where all of our stuff is. There's a table and a couple of shelves. So we do most stuff there. For reading we sit anywhere though.
  13. My daughter is 4, she'll be turning 5 in three months. I havent exactly told her about hell. I dont feel she's ready. I have simply explained to her that if you love Jesus and try to do the things that He wants you to do, you will go to Heaven one day. I have also told her that there are people who do not love Jesus and that they will not be going to Heaven. I havent told her about the alternative. If she asks, of course I will explain to her in kid-terms for now.
  14. I totally understand where you are coming from. I have heart palpitations occasionally and I hate the feeling of being scared.....my heart races and I get shaky. It is not fun! I think I would hit the roof too! Since you dislike it so much, and I totally understand, I do think that she should be punished....especailly because you have told her so many times not to do it. Hugs to you!
  15. Oooh, there's just so many LOL!! We LOVE character meals. Our very fav is probably either 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian resort or the Garden Grille in Epcot. But we also like Chef Mickey's too......and O'hanas for breakfast. Whispering Canyon has a great atmosphere. Or you could do the new T-Rex Cafe at Downtown Disney. The atmosphere and decor is awesome.
  16. There are some good things to the Wii. I dont think there are very many educational games, but I think it does provide the following..... - family time, you can have a lot of fun with everyone gathered around the Wii spending time together - exercise....things like Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Dance Dance Revolution, and Outdoor Adventure can provide exercise - I like the "different" games on the Wii. I love Trivia games and Wii has several of those....I'm not a fan of regular video games where you sit down and proceed through a world. But I like certain Wii games where you play games, etc.
  17. I was going to say RN as well. My sister is in nursing school right now. This job is highly in demand. You make decent money. And there are sooooo many venues to work in....doctors office, ER, cruise ship, school nurse, hospital, etc. Depending on where you work, you can pretty much set your hours. If you work like 12 hours on, you get 48 hours off.....I think that's it anyways.
  18. A clinically depressed dog? Well....now I've heard it all.
  19. Have you considered a retired racing Greyhound? I have researched them and know several people who have adopted them and everyone says how wonderful they are. I really really want to get one, but we have very young kids (4 and 1 years old) and I dont want a big dog while they are little. They will still be fairly young when you adopt them (usually between two and about five years old) and they are nicknamed the "45 mile per hour couch potato). In the house they are usually very docile and then they have short bursts of energy when taken outside. I've heard they are very gentle dogs who are already housebroken because they are crate trained for racing. I will definitely be getting a retired racing greyhound one day.
  20. I've seen the following go over well at church nurseries..... Little People a kitchen with some play food/dishes a slide with a platform at the top several baby dolls with strollers/bed lots of different types of board books
  21. Could someone explain to me exactly what courtship is? I think I know but I want to make sure I understand it. After seeing all the things that my parents are letting my 15 year old sister go through with boyfriends/breaking up/PDA....I want something different for my girls. I have a while yet since they are only 4 and 1 years old though. But I want to talk to my husband about it so we will be prepared one day.
