  1. I just ordered Prima Latina as my first Memoria Press product. Can't wait to get all my new goodies from RR.
  2. I see the main complaint about this program is the amount of writing and busy work. Is it possible to just let the student do the exercises in the book? I mean it's on $13. I'm looking at English 3.
  3. I have 3 shopping carts going: Amazon, RR, Christian Book. Add, move to wish list, delete, add, switch, repeat.
  4. One thing I need to learn to do is let them figure it out even if it takes awhile. I was watching Rosie's videos and I would have *rescued* mine sooner. Just be quiet Mom!
  5. Hmmm! So much to think about. Now that I know where to find the workbooks for Miquon I may try those. Wonder if they would bring back the fun factor of math for my 2nd grader? Right now math for her is hard and boring, which makes it so not enjoyable for either of us.
  6. I hear people talk about Miquon but I don't get it. Is it a book, website? What about MUS? I used Alpha with dd but she is so artsy that she just wanted to play with the blocks and not actually do the work. Currently using MM 2 with her. Thinking about Primer for him since I have the blocks. ETA R&S looks good too. Thanks for the recs.
  7. My son is currently working through a Kindergarten math book a PS teacher gave me. So far it's mostly counting, what's different, writing numbers, etc. He seems to really get math concepts. He can do some addition and subtraction. I was looking at various math programs for K and they all seem a little under his ability. I saw CLE 1 and was thinking it might be a good fit even if he did it at a slower pace. I'm researching all this for late summer for our new school year. He turns 5 in 2 months and officially starts K after that. Any recs that don't break the bank? Any thoughts on CLE for him? Just to add, this he my child that wants to build robots, is into Legos, looks at a picture of a bear for phonics, and tells me what kind of bear it is. K-K-koala b-b-bear. LOL! He seems to have engineering tendencies as do many of his relatives. He's a awesome little handful!
  8. I've "heard" 3 gets better so I'm hanging in there to see for myself. I'm actually looking forward to diagraming.
  9. "I had a music teacher who would have students sit on his lap while he made goat sounds. Yeah, I do not know what to make of that." This almost caused me to choke to death on my Kit Kat.
  10. AL - sweet tea, peanuts, greens, cornbread, shrimp, seafood, anything fried. LA - crawfish, seafood, Cajun spice, alligator
  11. It should be fine. Just stress the importance of her job to her. Other options would be to ask neighbor to take baby with her to pick up other kids or you take baby.
  12. Yes. We switched to AAS, which was good, but it just didn't get done consistently for us. So we recently picked SW B up again. I like the independent student aspect of it. I just needed a subject that didn't require me as much. As far as FLL we have done 1 and 2. I looked at other options, but have been told things ramp up in 3 and it's been working for us. I'm actually looking forward to diagramming. Lol! We actually have been back and forth with WWE because up until recently DD has hated writing anything. But we plan to finish up 1 and move to 2 mid year next year. This has been the year DD has gone from hating reading and writing to wanting to excellent in those subjects.
  13. I have about $400 in my cart right now for K and 3rd. Math Mammoth is already bought. Already have Kers stuff like OPGTR, phonics, math, and writing. 3RD Prima Latina FLL 3 WWE 2 Spelling Workout C D'Nealian 3 K D'Nealian K Explode the Code 1 and 1 1/2 plus TG Snap Circuits Robotics books BOTH God's Design for Heaven and Earth Science 3 book set SOTW 2 with activity guide Home Art Studio DVD 3rd grade I've drooled over more expensive curriculum, but honestly these choices work for us and get done. Plus we use the library a lot. It's the extras like dance, music, and sports that take all my money. ETA My total keeps rising!
  14. You do what you have to when you have to. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for the kids and they will begin to appreciate your efforts more. Enjoy some time for yourself and don't feel guilty. Hugs!
  15. Just ordered some! They sound awesome!
  16. Cow hooves last a long time. My Maltese has had his for a year. Pig ears get devoured in hours so they wouldn't last long with a big dog. The hooves aren't really consumed so I don't think their would be tummy issues. We have also used the kong with food inside.
  17. GO FOR IT! It's hair, not a permanent tattoo! Have fun! You only get one life! ETA Now I want to get some funky highlights too! :)
  18. I just bought a Brothers cs6000i and love it. http://www.amazon.com/Brother-Feature-Rich-Built-In-Auto-Size-Buttonholes/dp/B000JQM1DE
  19. Our menu choices tonight are leftovers, sandwich or cereal.
  20. I appreciate the helpful feedback. We'll get there! Somehow we always make it work.
  21. So reading the mortgage payoff thread has me depressed. What are you supposed to do when your spouse makes enough to pay the bills, but not much else? He has a small amount in a 401k, we have minimal savings aka tax refund that has a major leak with all the things (medical) that need to be paid. I don't work outside the home, but I do all I can to stretch every dollar. I still have too much student loan debt and no retirement and after a year of unemployment from my husband last year (couldn't find work and went to school) we have about $10k in cc debt. We both drive older and paid off cars. I drive as little as possible to save on gas. We are just keeping our heads above water. How do we save, payoff, and plan for the future?
  22. Ha! Same thing happened to me when I thought I would "trick" my daughter into spelling and writing by having her text people for me. She just uses voice recognition.:p
