  1. I have the LG top loader that a few others are referring to. I think it may be the Wave Force model. I got it 4 weeks ago after recommedations on here (thank you!). I do really like it. I am a hair under 5'4, and I can reach the bottom for the most part, I do have to stand on my tip toes occasionally, even with wearing tennis shoes. It's not that big of an issue for me. I do think it is rougher on clothes than my old Amana. I have found a few holes, mostly on washrags/hand towels. A few holes in shirts, but they were on the old side anyway. On the upside, because it spins so much, dry time is so much less compared to my old set. That said, I would highly recommend getting the model with the most adjustable features. If I am remembering correctly, there were 2 very similar models and I chose the one with more features. I can change the spin speed, which is very nice, especially for more delicate clothes, among many other settings to adjust. I am very glad I went with the higher end model. The best part? I can fit my fluffy king sized comforter in the washer and dryer with NO problems!! This is huge for me, as our youngest sleeps with us, and is not quite totally potty trained at night. This alone will save me a lot of money at the laundromat.
  2. This may be a tad long but... Signature Sweets by Julie
  3. This may be way off base, but maybe mention to the doc the possibility of absence seizures. When you mentioned spacey, and eye blinking, this is what came to mind.
  4. Living in that town does not sound physically nor mentally healthy for your family. Normally, I would not suggest running from a problem, but in this case since it does not seem like you even have police protection, I would be out of there in a heartbeat. Even if your parents own the house, and you have to repay them. This may sound really rude, but if my parents knew I was being physically or sexually abused in the past and allowed it to happen, I really wouldn't care if they had trouble selling the house or not. Let them take you to court if they need to. Your children's needs (especially physical safety) are a priority, and I think it is best if you get them out of that town. :grouphug:
  5. I have reread your post and just want to add something. Regarding the parents that are wishy-washy, maybe they are caught off guard by the situation? We go to the park all the time, and I have not ever seen anyone bring toy guns. I am also the type of person that has a hard time saying no when being put on the spot, and if I were uncomfortable with a situation, I might leave too. I do allow my kids to play with toy guns, but I do not like when they point directly at each other (especially the head). I also would not be comfortable correcting other people's children if this were occuring. That is great that he has found something to help his social skills, but from my perspective, I would find something else to take that would be less likely to cause issues or cause people to leave after only a short amount of time.
  6. My kids play with toy guns at home. But I would never take them to the park. We bring a soccer ball, frisbie or football if we take anything. There seems to be plenty for my kids to do at a park, without having to bring something that others may not agree with or kids arguing over if there is not enough to go around.
  7. Did you specifically check to make sure your keys are in the vehicle (if you left them in there) OR that the garage door opener was not missing?? How scary! So glad you called the police.
  8. I am so glad I am not the only one that does not love a Keurig. It's convenient but I'm too frugal to continue with the kcups, especially since I drink a lot of coffee. The filter to use your own grounds is very messy. I'm ready to put mine on craigslist, but DH likes it. I'm also disappointed that I don't love it because I have heard they have wonderful customer service, and I love purchasing from companies that take good care of customers.
  9. I first read this as co-op. That would have made for an exciting class! What a cool picture!
  10. I agree with the others and do not think it is necessary. In our experience (as buyers), we had to pay for an inspection anyway. Be prepared as the seller to possibly be responsible for anything found on inspection; we asked for minor repairs be taken care of prior to closing that were found on inspection.
  11. I have a platinum model. I think in comparison to other models, it is a really good choice. That said, I don't love the Keurig like I thought I would. I drink so much coffee, that we blew through 6 or so boxes in a few weeks. (Company using the cups too). I recently began using the filter with my own coffee and that is messy. Sorry to be a downer! DH really likes it though. If you get one, be sure to register your machine at the Keurig website. They offer buy 2 boxes, get 2 free and no shipping. That is a nice way try different kinds of coffee. We got ours at Costco for around $150 which included the filter, and 2 or so boxes of kcups. I price compared and that was the best deal in my area.
  12. That is a tough situation. My only suggestion is to be more open to possible members. This way, with more in attendance, it's not as big of a deal when someone doesn't show up. For next year, maybe ask for a designated person to split duties with you for the whole year instead of a rotation? Someone as commited as you are? I would take a break for awhile, do some pondering, and try again. It sounds like a wonderful activity for your daughter.
  13. :grouphug: My heart is breaking for that family, and those of you who are missing him. Thank you for sharing.
  14. Along the same lines, our district does not send kids home with lice. They reason that it's only a "nuisance". :glare: My sister has dealt with lice numerous times due to this policy. If this is the case across the country, perhaps that is why I am hearing of more lice than in the past. So aggravating!
  15. We use and love CLE. Cheap and very effective for my 2nd grader. Though I have not used anything other than 2nd grade so far, I plan to use it with all 3 kids this fall (K, 1st and 3rd). Very self explanatory to the student. Super easy to teach. I have not even looked at ordering K yet, but for 2nd grade you can order 1 workbook (called a "light unit") at a time, so you are not out much if you do not like it.
  16. Oopsie daisey! I got it from my Mom, and now that I think about it (and with 4 pages of replies, apparently no one else says it), it sounds pretty silly. If the kids aren't around, and I actually broke or hurt something, my initial reaction is much different. :D
  17. We were posting at the same time, please ignore my post to you. That would be awesome if contact solution is covered, we go through a ton of the expensive kind. I will have to look into that. Maybe there are different types of plans. We have an HSA through a bank, much like a regular debit/checking account.
