  1. Can you just check your drawers for any old phone you have hidden there or ask friends if anyone has an old phone? Then just switch service to that one for a few days.
  2. It is very powerful as an audio book with the accents. It does stay with you long after finishing.
  3. Thanks. Looks like I will be joining you this year....at least to some degree.
  4. I am interested in the Book a Week challenge but I am way behind the times. I have no idea what Mister Linky thing is or how to use it. Is that where you keep track of the books you have read? What about Good Reads? Is that similar or way different? If anyone can point me in the direction of a 101 or Dummies class for learning this stuff, I would appreciate it. Also, if I do the Book a Week thing, do you have do the themes, or bingo or other options? I want to try to read/listen to 52 books in the upcoming year and am always looking for new books/authors, etc. I just don't think I will have it in me this year to be that adventurous.
  5. I have never used them but would they work in conjunction with a very small amount of detergent?
  6. We are under a storm advisory for 3-6 inches tonight and tomorrow. That isn't a big deal here is West Michigan except they are also calling for up to 40mph wondering gusts. If that happens we will have a lot of areas with white outs which makes for dangerous driving.
  7. Thanks. that looks good too. If either of us decides we like chess we could always get a much better set to actually play with.
  8. A friend of mine has on her bucket list to learn to play chess this upcoming year. I have never played chess....not even watched a game being played. Neither of us has the slightest idea of how to play. I saw this on Amazon. Would this be worth it? https://www.amazon.com/Chess-Teacher-styles-may-vary/dp/B00000JBMZ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1514162650&sr=8-3&keywords=learn+to+play+chess It has pieces that teach you which way each piece can move. I know it is a cheap set but would the directions on each piece be helpful to 2 almost 50s moms with tired brains? Are there any good books we could get from the library? I am not a big game person and don't want to put a lot of money into this but if we are going to learn we need the easiest, simplest, chess for dummies method.
  9. Glad you got him in and got meds. It is so hard when someone is sick on the holiday weekend.
  10. I wore a dress borrowed from a friend. No regrets. I am low maintenance and had a budget of about $500 for the wedding and reception.
  11. I agree with the neurologist. For my son we found that Omega 3s greased his nervous system. Omega Brites or Could try Life Omega 3 Mood have very high levels of EPA. Lack of sleep and allergies also made the tics much worse here.
  12. Allegra and Nasacort nasal spray. One he might not like but is good for very short term use is Affrin spray. It stinks, it stings a bit but 2 squirts and you can amazingly breathe for hours. You can only use a few doses though to avoid dependency.
  13. Any music you like? Books/audio books?
  14. That I understand.....how do I get the drippings? Is it just the ham (spiral sliced doubled glazed bone in) in the crock pot? Add a small amount of water? The juice from the can of pineapple? We likely have the wrong kind of ham for this but MIL wanted the spiral sliced one.
  15. I have the standard 7 in 1 instant pot that I bought last year on sale. Now MIL gave me Christmas $ and I was thinking of a few accessories but not sure which are worth it. The only thing I have is that little rack that came with it.
  16. After I had my entire menu made and food all purchased my MIL decided last night she wanted me to add a spiral sliced ham, potatoes and ham gravy to the menu. That meant a last minute run to the store last night for said ham and potatoes. She has cancer and is on Hospice care so telling her no isn't really an option. Now, how do I make ham gravy. She loves one person's ham gravy but when I texted for the recipe they just said cook the ham all day on the crock pot and use corn startch. Recipes on line seem to use butter and flour and milk. Anyone have a great ham gravy recipe or tip? Do you put pineapple over the ham (with or without the juice too) or ??? Added to the fun, after I had all of the gifts bought, wrapped, under the tree, and stocking stuffed MIL gave me cash last night to go buy gifts for the kids. Thankfully our Walmart was almost EMPTY last night. Seriously, there were no lines to check out and workers available to help everywhere I needed one.
  17. What about Albuquerque? We enjoyed our time there. Lots of bigger city stuff (which we didn't do most of) and great hiking and other things. Tent Rocks was our all time absolutely favorite hike ever. https://www.tripadvisor.com/268906?m=19905 Another option is Traverse City/Sleeping Bear dunes area in northern west Michigan. The issue might be the weather. It could be 70s or could be 30s and snow. The drives and hikes and dune climbs are a lot of fun. Traverse City is not a big city though. You could fly in to Grand Rapids, meet me for lunch or dinner, and then drive up there. Do you want one place to stay the entire trip or change hotels often?
  18. All of ours are wrapped and under the tree and stockings are stuffed. I had it easier this year as we cut way back on presents and I have 2 girls that love to wrap so they did most of it.
  19. Are you sure the foyer won't be open? Could mean just that you can't go into the auditorium early
  20. Hornblower....thanks for sharing that song. Very fitting for many this holiday season
  21. Those things are quite common for ADD in girls. It certainly might be worth an evaluation.
