  1. I like the crystal still sweat but don't stink.
  2. Anyone use a study guide for this? Planning a unit study on bears and Alaska as a mid winter break from our routine. Thought this would be a good book to include. I could make my own but looking to save a little planning time.
  3. My grandmother is the same way. She claims she gets so cold. I think fear of falling and embarrassment are key players in the problem. My mom purchased a small space heater for the bathroom. We put it on to warn the bathroom before she goes in and keep it roaring during and after. She still protests going in bit she is always happy to "have a nice shower" after it is done.
  4. We were "stuck" at Disney last year while the blizzard shut things down here. 5 extra days. Sittin' by the pool chillin' in 85 degree wether. That is how blizzards should be spent. Oh and it was on the trip insurance's dime(that's why I could relax)
  5. We go ten days and relax. Take our time. No rush no worry. A money saving tip in AK the Chinese walk up restaurant is really good and meal is enough for 2. Well worth the price.
  6. FYI The Chinese walk up restaurant in AK is great. Really good value tons of food could easily be shared.
  7. This is where we got picked to be in the parade! Food is meh just breakfast, atmosphere was fun, kid liked it.
  8. I think you are very generous to want to give a special token to the parents from their child. Regardless of wether babies craft or there will be time or expenses. People's negativity is so thoughtless. She's being NICE. OP I work with infants and we do a lot of crafts for them. Pictures in homemade frames, foot/hand prints with a nice poem or saying (google search usually finds some no problem) celebrate daily milestones great nap today, hungry at lunch, lots of smiles today. Parents love to see those small things. Anything you do will be greatly appreciated. My sister gets a daily report from daycare she loves it. It's amazing what you can make with a sheet of construction paper markers and a glue stick. These small tokens take minutes to complete but will be meaningful to the parents. They will know they left their heart with a caring person.
  9. @Tammyla Not free half price I think it is $49. @Starr they could require you to submit your approval letter
  10. I read recently that homeschool families were elgible for the student discount price. I sent a email to amazon and received this reply. The discount is currently available to students with an .edu email address. Has anyone had any luck otherwise? Maybe if more homeschoolers make a request they will adjust the policy. In the past I have always found amazon accommodating. Hello, I understand you'd like to know if homeschoolers are eligible for the student discount. I've checked with my resources and see that currently, we're unable to provide Amazon student discount to homeschoolers. I've forwarded your interest to avail the student discount the appropriate people in our company so that they'll consider your feedback as we plan further improvements.
  11. I didn't want one at first but I love it. It actually saves money. All my books come from the library For my student I love the ability to look up unknown words and keep them as flash cards(on the kindle). Instant free vocabulary program.
  12. It seems well made. it's a Christmas present so we haven't used it yet. It does have metal tipped arrows and will require supervision.
  13. This was on my sons list so I've been researching. He's ten so I went with a step up from this but this looked good for little ones. Dicks sporting goods had them so I got to check them out IRL. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001RMWRHE/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1386375068&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70 This this the one we got. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001RMWRHE/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1386375068&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70
  14. My son is reading the Giants of Science series. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0142408204/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1385987339&sr=1-1&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70
  15. We started in 2a and are in 5a now. We will continue until the end. For my learner it is perfect. He does not require much "teaching". There is just the right amount for him. I could see how this would be a neg for some families. This is actually my favorite curriculum to use. I also like the fact we can reprint and redo a unit if needed.
  16. We are looking for a set too. We went to an archery store and they showed us a set for $125. I hate to spend that much before we know if he will stick to it. I m following. Like the set linked above. Making our own might be fun I will have to research it.
  17. I have the tan teachers edition you could use it alone.
  18. We've stayed at French Quarter and Coronado Springs. Both were great but we liked Coronando a little better(stayed twice). Both were clean and had excellent bus service. Pool at Coronando is beautiful. We don't need many extras since resort time is minimal for us but having a gym is a plus and you get a Queen sized beds. These are moderates so in early Feb you can get the free meal plan with a sit down meal each day.
  19. http://www.wecanchange.com Anyone ever participated? Similar to Destination Imagination. Teamwork to solve a problem.
  20. Anyone ever use this unit? I am thinking of trying it with a group of 4 or 5 kids.
