  1. Thanks for all the ideas and opinions. He is completing DO algebra now and will start geometry when he finishes. He enjoys the format and does well pacing himself with a set 1 hour of math/day. He enjoys the DO format.
  2. Good ideas. Thanks. He will definitely need help planning for long term assignments. The DO classes are self paced so that should help us too. We also school year round as needed (always math and anything the needs finishing). Hmm I don't want to overwhelm him but I also know we can not have home based classes. Unfortunately.
  3. The downtown Disney hotels are nice and you can use the WDW shuttle.
  4. No need to be sorry I asked for help because I am unsure and sometimes another pair of eyes makes things clear. I will be with him to help him. I still want to be his teacher but he and I both need outside accountability. He has taken classes outside the home for three years that are similar to an online class. 1x/wk tutorial with work to complete all week. As far as online classes these will be his first. He is taking the WTMA study skills class this summer to learn the interface and hopefully some organizational study techniques. None of his activities are all that time consuming but he does love his free play time. He easily completes work for his outside classes and does well.
  5. We are outsourcing all classes this year since at home classes just keep getting pushed to the side. My son is acedemically strong but not highly motivated(he's 14). English - WTMA intro to rhetoric writing -WTMA Literature of Modern Times WTMA US history Derek Owens Geometry Derek Owens Physics Spanish 1 tutorial 1x/week Public Speaking tutorial 1x/week Drama tutorial 1x/week Health completing this summer PE to be decided
  6. I personally would do one small stroller and a carrier. But to each his own. If you go the double route. I have a maclaren twin triumph umbrella style I like. Though still a bit heavy. I keep looking at these since they are very light. http://www.zoestrollers.com
  7. I pay my babysitter $150 for 8 hours. Now keep in mind I have two infants and she is an adult that comes to my home. But I would never ever ever expect someone to do it for $40 ($20/kid). We have an occasional sitter who we give $15:hr. Around here I'm getting off cheap.
  8. The high school books are to be completed after the AG course is completed to keep material fresh. Im not sure I would jump right in. We are completing them now. They definitely have the flow and style from the program. It helps being familiar with it.
  9. I would love to have a group for history. Unfortunately finding the right age group, belief system and committed parties has been difficult for us. After 5 years of trying to get a group going I have given up.
  10. Dang I was hoping I had just missed something. My son does well with the learning style.
  11. Thanks for sharing your opinion. Tula users. Should I get infant insert. I want to use it right away.
  12. I remembered my major complaint with OM English 8. The vocabulary was not linked well to the reading. The teacher's manual gave you definitions but not examples from the book or page numbers. We had to hunt for them.
  13. It felt disjointed and light. We use WWS and analytical grammar and are much happier.
  14. we have used the OM8 civics and physical science this year. I do find there is too much work to do a good job on it all so I cut it down. sometimes we just read. I like the content. we tried OM8 English and didn't like it. I will probably do some OM science and history for hs.

  16. I like Nellies All Natural Laundry Soda. Cleans well and keeps the stink out of front loader. Whatever you use use less than they recommend.
  17. Has anyone used the human body and health and nutrition unit?
  18. We are doing Analytical Grammar, WWS and outsourcing literature next year for 8. The literature class has a fair amount of writing and he writes in his science and history curriculum also. I've tried many writing curriculum. WWS definitely works the best for my guy. We work at a slower pace than it is written. I find AG very easy to use and he has great retention. Again we work slower than it is written.
  19. Thanks all. We will be open to most placements.
  20. We are beginning our foster to adopt journey. I am so excited! Please pray things will work out for us. thanks!
