  1. I do that minus the ammonia(which I will try tomorrow). It only seems to help till he wears them. Even he thought they were horrible today.
  2. Has anyone found any that don't get stinky? My sons feet don't smell in shoes or sneakers. I think getting them wet is part if the cause. But isn't that what summers about. Right now he has LLBean sandals that stay they prevent odor. They don't :( Thanks for the suggestions.
  3. This site has some great info and games. http://biology.allaboutbirds.org/#home-page-top
  4. My 11 year old is interested in participating. Has anyone had experience with a child this age? Thanks
  5. Mobimax is computer based. It will "place" your student in a level or you can assign lessons. There is also a section for fact review.
  6. I liked Sharp Objects better than Gone Girl. I will put Dark Places in my library cart.
  7. This was my most recent read. On the search for a new book. Having trouble finding one to grab my attention. If I enjoyed this what are your other recommendations.
  8. We are going to use the explorer science series for Earth science next year 6th grade. They will be a spine and we will add library books, videos, and field trips. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0132011549/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp_1_1?colid=N1SMO4VTTVNW&coliid=IMP6A7MEDFAVD http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0132011492/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp_1_2?colid=N1SMO4VTTVNW&coliid=I2W4AHWJ1N34QI http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0132011514/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp_1_3?colid=N1SMO4VTTVNW&coliid=IJB6V4JQ6NIYQ http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0132011522/ref=pd_aw_sims_2?pi=SL500_SY115
  9. http://www.barnettcrossbows.com/products/youth-archery/lil-sioux-jr-recurve-archery-set I got this for mr son for $25 at Dicks Sporting Goods. Great buy. He loves it. The arrows are cheap and break easily but the bow is solid. He is 11 and it is perfect size and draw.
  10. The Perfect Game is on Netfix. It was a great movie. Very inspirational for my baseball loving boy. Highly recommended.
  11. We are listening to Across Five Aprils right now and are enjoying it. Other recent favorites are Dragonrider The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate
  12. Smudge I was wondering the same think. I have the newest edition of alg 1, 2 and geometry I was gifted. We aren't ready for them quite yet but I never hear of anyone using them.
  13. I'm wonder how they will be with an 11 year old, who struggles with patience. I'm going to talk to them when I go in. Hopefully I can find someone who will be helpful and patient with my son.
  14. Thanks that's the kind of info I am looking.
  15. Has anyone used this? I would like my son to be more computer savvy than me. We are going to be purchasing an Apple laptop within the next couple weeks. Thanks
  16. I'm thinking we are going to give it a try. My son hates to narrate.
  17. Thanks it does seem like it has some value. Still considering.
  18. I am planning earth science for 6th grade. We have been pretty lax with science, interest led, nature, documentaries. Considering this he has a good base knowledge(better than I thought) Science is my son's least favorite subject, he had no passion for it. I'm giving up trying to make it fun and get him excited. We just need to get it done. I want all planned out, do the next thing. Otherwise it will not get done. I will supplement with lots of documentaries because he has the best retention from them. Thanks for the tips. I think I will go with the topic books. I actually have bacteria to plants I think I will pull it out and do a few lessons to check how it goes.
  19. I'm going to try using these. What edition do I want? Are the elinks in the newer ones worth the extra $? Do I need the teacher's manual?
  20. We have had ours 4+ years. I had to patch it once because a stone from the lawn mover put a hole in it. Easy to do holds out great. Filter still works well but I had to replace the tubing, $12 easy fix. Well work the money for us. Kids love it. Ladder is a little shaky for my liking but I don't go in much.
  21. I forgot to add job happiness is an important factor. If you don't like your job maybe it's time to change.
  22. That's a hard call. I work two 7pm-7am shifts every third weekend/holiday. They are long shifts I hate it. I would love to go back to 11pm-7am but the extra day/holidays keeps me chugging along. I've worked overnight 16 years (11 on 12 hr shifts). Right now this shift works but I can feel that the older I get my body is not appreciating 12 hours on my feet. Good luck in your choice. Do what is best for your family. I'm off to work yawn :)
