  2. Looks like MiEssence has a large variety of products...anything I should know in my search? Not interested in making my own, though...
  3. Has anyone made the /oo/ folder from day 29? I need your help. how do I fold it and where do I staple it? It says at the double stars but I don't see double stars? Anyone have a photo of this??
  4. Mine's up... you certainly couldn't get away with this in math class down at the public school!
  5. I've always wondered this too. As a home educator, I want to spell what we are correctly.... But thanks to this thread, the wondering still goes on...:D
  6. Hang in there. My dd is going to be 7 in Dec. and she is just now "getting it" she is using MFW 1st and it is so awesome. She is learning so much, and finally understanding:001_smile: After trying to work with OPGTR for over a year with no success, I can not recommend MFW 1st more highly.
  7. I wouldn't go thru the trouble. You could easily come up with something on your own. We don't use it, but you might get an idea from this meeting board I made.... http://cornerstoneclassicalschool.blogspot.com/2009/09/weekly-reportmy-fathers-world-first.html HTH
  8. My ds 15 really enjoyed The Fallacy Detective. It was a gem both for Mom and son. My ds 7 is reading right now, just because he wants to, and he is cracking me up with some of the conversations that have come from this....
  9. We have used SWO A, B, and C with great success. We just write the list of words on a white board one a day and do one section of the lesson a day, omitting the writing part, then on Friday we have the test. My dc have not missed a word on a test yet:001_smile: and that includes bonus words HTH
  10. my dd was EXACTLY like this with OPGTR, we started it when she was 5.5 yrs old. A year later and she was still like your child, academically and attitude wise, she shed alot of tears. This year we are doing MFW 1st grade program, and she is happy, and I am astonished how quickly she is reading, a progressing at a fast pace. I'm amazed at her attitude change too. She loves MFW. And is learning SO MUCH.:001_smile::001_smile:
  11. My dd(1st grade) cried thru OPGTR for over a year, I didn't ever think she would read. This year we are doing the MFW first grade program, and she is excited, engaged, happy, and it seems as if someone turned a light switch on to her reading. She has learned so much, so far this year in bible, reading, science, and writing with that program. :001_smile::001_smile: My ds(2nd grade) is doing VERY well in FLL 3 and WWE 2. I didn't think he would like it, and I just didn't get it "on the surface" but once we started doing the lessons, I saw the "rhyme and reason" of it all, and I have come to see that WWE is AWESOME!! And my ds asks to do these two subjects first because he enjoys them.
  12. my ds likes to get out the playing cards and takes out the face cards, then he matches up and memorizes the two numbers that equal 10.
  13. Weekly Report for week 3 is up! Had a wonderful week. I had my doubs BUT FLL 3 and WWE 2 are "genius" we love it!!!
  14. we are in our 2nd week of MFW 1st. Will your 5 yr old be 6 soon? I would say go ahead a try it. You can always slow it down if it becomes challenging for him. If he hits a spot that's getting a little over his head then slow down, and stay there for how ever long it takes. My dd and I worked with OPGTR for a yr and 1/2. I didn't ever think she would catch onto reading. But she has loved MFW so far!!!!!!!!!!!:001_smile:
  15. Kinda funny, we just completed week 2 of MFW 1st. The memory verse for this week was Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge from the Holy One is understanding;).
