And another question: If you're "late"...
Acorn replied to ILiveInFlipFlops's topic in General Education Discussion Board
:iagree: I called the Ob's nurse line when I was 4 weeks late (with repeated neg. pg tests), she said that they would want to see me if I missed 2 or if I had anything out of the usual happen. -
Twice I been charged for periapical xrays. It was at separate dentists. The first time, I just assumed that they were using normal xrays (bitewings) and didn't question until after I recieved the large bill. For the second time, I had authorized bitewings in writing to the pediatric dentist, nothing was discussed about changing that, so the dentist waived the charge for the periapicals.

I belong to a local facebook garage sale group. One poster is trying to sell records at $8 each, names like Elvis, Beach Boys, Kingston Trio, Johnny Cash- definitely records that are also currently available on cds. I think that is extremely over-priced. Right? I am hoping to convince my dh to part with some of his "collection" and wanted some idea of the value. I was estimating about $ 0.25.

We have playmobile sets also, but legos allow for so much more creativity. The playmobile soldiers and stuff sometime live in lego built castles and buildings.

I think I would start with duplos also. Of course, quatros were the first Christmas gift we gave my 3 month old. We have an old duplo castle that has been really fun and the duplo fire station. My son just turned 7 and we started buying the regular legos.

Reminds me of my son's assignment today: 1st grade. I have a few new spelling words for the week. "A baby Bare is called a cub. Bares eat barese and meat. Thar black and brown."

Help me accept something about myself

That is the one that changed my world, and now there are generic versions. I tried the CVS brand, and it was fine. -
We found a really large Chinese Mantid in our yard in August. It will live until fall/winter outside. I think we might get a few more months since it is indoors. Right now, we catch moths at the porch light or beetles. I did buy crickets at the pet store when we had some rainy nights and couldn't catch anything. She made an ootheca. We won't know if the eggs are fertilized until we see hatching. I think I am going to chill it so that it won't hatch until spring. For a few weeks we had a second praying mantis (also found in our yard), after that one made an ootheca, I had the kids release it. It has stayed on the same plant in the garden, so we have seen her daily. I have found forums on captive mantises. You can order live ones from many species. I was thinking it would be cool to have an exotic one, until I saw that shipping was $30 for overnight.

:hugs: I've been there. I moved and had to find a new optometrist. He told me I was allergic to the preservative in many of the contact solutions. Since I switched to hydrogen peroxide, I can comfortably wear my contacts about 4 days a week. I do consider 30 days of wear before I toss my "monthly" contacts. Or I toss them when things look foggy. I buy from discount places online, so I consider having comfortable vision worth an extra pair of lenses. Pink eye is an infection that could have easily came from touching a doorknob, and then you used your finger to touch your lenses. I wouldn't discontinue contacts because of it. It just happens, especially if you are around children. Scratched cornea can be a negative consequence of lenses. My dh got one while wearing his glasses and cleaning out a barn. So again, I think it is just something that happens. I hope you find something that works for you. -
Would you report workmans comp fraud?
Acorn replied to BlueTaelon's topic in General Education Discussion Board
is That is what I thought the first time. The second letter made it clear that we had to return it or coverage would be denied. -
reasons to cash in retirement early

No, I won't in your case. I would consider a holiday job at a department store or something. -

Yeah sometimes it is unfortunate, but the law is that homeowners are responsible for some accidents on their property. It isn't a matter of "suing" but getting proper insurance coverage. To claim it to your own health ins. when it happened elsewhere (work or another's house) could be committing ins. fraud. -

We had Anthem when my son needed stitches. I ignored the first injury inquiry from anthem. It was addressed to my 2 year old son and marked "confidential". It was standard questionnaire asking for more details on the injury and who else could be billed (workmans comp, homeowners or auto ins.). I thought it was crazy and ignored it. Then, we got the second letter, still addressed "confidential" to a 2 year old and a very explicitly said that if we didn't return the form that he would be in limbo with our health coverage until the matter was resolved. -
Seamstresses: ever use hem tape w/success?
Acorn replied to Ginevra's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I would hand sew. It would be very noticeable to have a machine hem. The one time I tried hem tape, it failed hours after application. -

Why didn't he use a ramp? I had a rotor cuff injury that still allowed forward pushing or some lifting but not doing part of my job that required lifting things arms above my head. -
Is the total income the same? We have a monthly deposit, and I can't see how it would be different if the same amount was divided by 2. We do buy most things with a cash back rewards credit card and pay the total balance each month.

I agree, but we have heard from only a fraction of invitees. I need to seal up the pinata and paint it soon. I just know that more people will call if I do that. Last time, I just told the kids they could get one of each item.
-
We will be swinging plastic swords. Two years ago, we got through a pinata using a plastic bat. It will be some of the same guests, so I think we should be okay. Wish me luck!
-
Thank you. The party is soon, so I can't order online. I did see Lego pencils at the store. I think I will get some. The "theme" is ninjago. Some of the guests are girls, who I haven't met, so I don't want to overdo the ninjago thing.

Any ideas? I am feeling like this is impossible. 1) Peanut allergy 2) Strawberry allergy- rules out starburst and skittles that pass rule #1 3) I have an aversion to plastic trinkets that get thrown out So far, I have tootsie rolls and smarties. The guests are ages 5-7.

Bathroom Tile & Tub Reglazing/ painting
Acorn replied to kbpaulie's topic in General Education Discussion Board
It was great for 5 1/2 years. The warranty was for 5 years, so of course at 5 1/2 the paint started flaking off the bottom of the tub. I'm not sure what we can do about it now. -
Teaching boys to pee in the potty?
Acorn replied to Kathryn's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Sitting is the default here because 1) my son wouldn't have been tall enough for a few years 2) it is neater 3) it follows an adult role model
