  1. I'm really, really, really, really crabby this week :glare: and I'd like a do-over, so I chose the "start from scratch" option. No really. I hate all my choices for this year. I just can't get into the groove. Today was day 2. P.S. The cupcakes are MINE, MINE I tell you!
  2. Yes!!!! I've been waiting (not so) patiently to hear news of a release date. I wish it was a little sooner, but I'll take it!
  3. This looks very cute. Wish I still had one that little! :001_smile:
  4. Yes. I have used it since the change without incident.
  5. This is what I usually do as well. I'm going to have to check out what they offer on streaming vs. Netflix and give this Prime membership some serious thought. Thanks ladies. (I think...:tongue_smilie:)
  6. No kidding! You must feel like you're on a rollercoaster! :tongue_smilie:
  7. I'm Michelle and I have enjoyed lurkdom since the old boards. :D We have been homeschooling for 9 years now, mostly because I didn't want to give up hanging out with these cool people I call my kids, but for academic reasons as well. Oldest will begin high school this fall though, and I'm a bit anxious about pulling that off! I grew up in a big city, but we live a quiet life in the country now. Hobbies? Reading, biking w/ my husband, hiking at local state parks, bee keeping (new this year!), and watching Doctor Who, Star Trek, Sherlock, and other Geeky TV shows with the boys. I have never read a crockpot thread and wonder what the hubbub is about. I do occasionally use a crockpot, so hate me if you must. I am currently up to my eyeballs in planning history for next year. Why is it always so stinkin' hard to plan history?
  8. Hang in there, I'm sure the wait will be worth it! :grouphug:
  9. Prayers for peace for the the family at this heartbreaking time. :grouphug:
  10. I have used the New Beginnings forms as well to create my planner the past 2 years. Makes me happy!
  11. Sadly, my memory is so bad that I don't remember much of the conversations from the old boards, but I do remember the "First!" phenomenon. I was never "First!" I can't even remember if I had the same user name or not...:tongue_smilie:
  12. I'm looking forward to using Hakim's History of US in the upcoming school year. I decided to go for the concise volumes and they look very nice. Text is less crowded, fewer distracting sidebars, nice photos. I think they will be a great fit for my 11 year old middle child.
  13. I invest in Keens for the whole family. Long lasting, versatile and machine washable. We spend a lot of time in the woods, on rocky hiking trails, and wading into water on canoe trips and they have never failed us. We all have Newport H2s.
  14. This is such sad news. I only know of Deann from buying her product, but the MM calendars have been such a great help to me that I feel close to her in some little way. My sympathies go out to her family. :grouphug:
  15. My 14 year old started drinking coffee about a year ago, but not every day; just when the mood strikes him. The 11 year old has become interested now too, and after reading the responses about improved concentration, I just may let him! I agree that if the consumption is not excessive it shouldn't be harmful.
  16. We began homeschooling with a designated schoolroom. It is a decent size room, and sunny, but we didn't have comfortable seating like a big couch or cozy chair for reading and working. We abandoned it as the boys got older and we were spending more time on school, but we still have large book shelves and a storage closet in that room, so all homeschooling materials can be kept in one area, which is important to my sanity. For us it just seems more natural to use the main parts of our home for school time. The kids can choose where they feel most comfortable doing their work on any given day. Sometimes they need to retreat to their rooms for some quiet concentration, other times we're all together in the dining room/living room areas. Our main level rooms are large so the kids can spread out a bit, but the layout is such that we're still connected. We like it. The old school room is now a computer and mad scientist electronics lab, which the boys are very happy about. :D
  17. :iagree: Same experience here. We have too many for it to ever be practical. Big clear bins work for us to keep mess under control. Well, somewhat under control.:tongue_smilie:
