  1. Just me, nutella and a spoon.

  2. Free science supplies are always a good thing! Thanks for posting!
  3. I just recently cleaned up my closet and dresser so I'm ahead of the game! :hurray: I'll probably get started on my nightstand/drawers tomorrow...that is sure to be a two day affair.
  4. :iagree: When we butchered our chickens, my MIL and FIL always offered to come out and help if they could take all the feet home. They swore the feet made the best stock. I was happy to oblige them. After a morning of butchering, I didn't want anything to do with the left-over bits! :tongue_smilie:
  5. Well, my hour is up! Here is what I managed: straightened/wiped down pantry shelves swept kitchen and under diningroom table took out trash, compost and recycling vacuumed stairs and master bedroom vacuumed entryway runner Whew! Thanks for the kick in the rear. I'm actually energized to get a bit more done today. Off I go!
  6. :iagree: Yes. Every child, every year. My girlfriends have noticed this with their children as well. :grouphug:
  7. :iagree: My oldest has an Arduino Uno (micro-controller) and a Raspberry Pi (micro-computer). The folks at the Raspberry Pi Foundation just chose him as a guest blogger a couple days ago, and he wrote about the robot he built using his Raspberry Pi. Here's a link if your're interested in seeing it: Repurposing a Roomba He is also lucky to have a dad that brings home lots of electronic parts/pieces/wires, and discarded devices to take apart, and a relaxed school schedule so he can "play around" with it all. He loves reading MAKE Magazine and Instructables.com can be fun, too.
  8. I didn't get anything done yesterday, but I managed to double up this moning and get the silverware drawer straightened and cleaned, as well as organizing a pantry shelf. Whew!
  9. Thank you for putting this together! Great motivation! Junk drawer is done, and my (not so) optional task for today is to hand wash the yucky load of dishes that are currently festering in my dishwasher. It must have died last night during the dinner load, so that was a nice surprise when I opened it this morning. :glare: Other optional tasks this week will be cleaning out under the sink, cleaning the micro and dusting the tops of the cupboards.
  10. Happy to report that six paper grocery bags of clothing and various dust collectors are in my car and ready to go to Goodwill this afternoon. Yay!
  11. Satori Smiles has a sortable literature list for American history here.
  12. Thanks everyone for your replies. I think then I will just get the textbook, the course plans and tests, and the answer key. Sounds like no one likes the virtual labs. I downloaded the Illustrated Guide to Home Biology (Thanks Kate in Arabia) and I will look into the various kits you guys have used. Thanks again!
  13. Well, this is my first year teaching high school and it is slow going getting my ds14 up and running with his subjects. I am still trying to work out science, but I think I have settled on the Dragonfly Miller-Levine text along with Kolbe plans. (Second choice is Holt Biology and Oak Meadow plans, if anyone has an opinion there :tongue_smilie:) I still have questions about which components will be necessary to purchase though. From Kolbe I think I should purchase: Course Plans and Tests Biology answer Key and Student Online Access Lab Report Writing Guide Do I need the Student Workbook from Kolbe as well? What about the virtual labs CD? I would like to pick up a used copy of the Miller Levine Text from Amazon. That doesn't affect the online access, right? As the code comes in the course plans, correct? I would love to hear about what others have used with this course and found to be necessary. Thanks for your input. I have gone round and round with reading biology threads and I just need to make this decision once and for all!!
