  1. My brother in law lives in Key West. Honestly not much to do if you have children. It really is a party atmosphere. If you are down at Duvall street area where the restaurants and shops are you will see people totally trashed at 10:00 in the morning. They do have a small aquarium that my 2 year old did enjoy but it only took 30 minutes to go thru. They also have a butterfly museum and you can pay to go into the area where thousands of butterflies roam . My daughter really did love that. Cruise ships dock there and the streets can get pretty crazy when the cruise ship vacationers are out and about. The only reason I will go back there for vacation is because my brother -in- law lives there. I would not go there just to go there and vacation. IF you were just going for a day or two I'm sure you could find other family friendly things to do.
  2. My children at 24, 19 & 2.. um just a little gap there..LOL my 24 year old lives on her own and has a 5 month old son my 19 year old is at college but comes home at least once a month and will be home the summer that just leaves my 2 year old at home but seriously I am surprised on how close she is with her 2 older siblings. She see's my daughter all the time and she wants to call and talk to her sissy on the phone every night before bed and we skype with my son a lot and when he is home it's all about Lilly. He reads to her, plays with her and gives her soo much attention. I know your situation would be different because your kids will be living at home longer and would be there everyday but I just wanted you to know the age gap works for our family. I'm glad we made the decission to add another child to our family even though there is such a huge age difference.
  3. My grandmother is turning 88 this year and she still has a great quality of life. She lives by herself, she drives, she takes the other elderly members of her church to the dr, grocery store and walks people dogs if they are ill. Both her brothers lived to be in thier mid 90"s and did in their sleep and they were the same. They still drove and lived at home with their spouses. none of them have/had serious medical issues. both my great uncles died in their sleep. If my quality of life could be like theirs then yes I sure as heck hope to live til 100. My grandmother enjoys life and all her children,grandchildren,great-grandchildren , and yes she even has great-great grandchildren.
  4. We adopted 2 years ago. We did not have to go thru an agency because we found our own birth mom however we did hire an adoption attorney for all the paperwork and the legal fee's were probably $4500.00 we then had another $3,000 for the birth mothers living expenses. and another $1500 to pay for an attorney for the birth mom. Luckily my husbands employer reimburses up to $10k in adoptions expenses. We had to pay up front but we were reimbursed after the adoption was final. We are in Indiana if that helps.
  5. I lived in Mason Ohio about 8 years ago for about 2 years and I loved it. I'm sure things have change in 8 years. We lived on Crooked tree golf course. If I hadn't gotten a divcorce we probably would have stayed in that area. So much to do and so close to Kings Island and different water parks and close to Cincinnatti and all the museums and the zoo. Like I said it's probably changed but I think you will love it. good luck!!
  6. I'm so glad you found it. My daughter calls her blanket her cuvey-up. It's so cute. Everynight when I tuck her in I always say lay down and lets cover up. It took us awhile one night to realize what she was saying until she got up and got her favorite blanket... ahhh now we now. We misplaced hers one time and it was a nightmare so I went and bought 3 extra's at walmart (only $10 each) so now at night she covers up with a couple and hugs on the others. As long as she as at least 1 of them we're ok.
  7. She's just jealous she doesn't get to stay home:tongue_smilie: My sister in law is a Paralegal (she doesn't think it's a step down) and they are trying to get bills paid off and money in savings and then she is planning on staying home.
  8. For me it is Photography and photoshop It started off as a hobby and now i'm lucky enough to have it as a business. I can make my own schedule and make enough extra money that it really helps our family out financially and it allowed me to go part time at my full time job I was working. I get to paid to do what I love... I especially love doing weddings.. You get to witness so much love and happiness. :)
  9. I so need to de-clutter. I just don't know where to start. I feel overwhelmed. I'm actually thinking of making arrangements for my duaghter to go to her grandparents house one day and have a rule of no tv or internet until I atleast get 2 rooms totally de-cluttered. Good luck to everyone needing to de-clutter!!
  10. I was also amazed at how the mom's acted. I couldn't imagine behaving as they do. Plus I couldn't imagine letting my child be treated that way or allowing myself to be talked to the way Abbey talks to them. The whole situation seems messed up... but yet I still watch... LOL!!
  11. contact that banking institution and see what the guidelines are to wire the money to your bank. once a wire goes thru the money is available immediately.
  12. Thanks for the comments. Lilly is such a girly girl and I just know she would love dance class. I'll make sure to tell my husband that is not normal!!!!! I am still embarrased to admit that I watch that show.:tongue_smilie:
  13. Any one else watch this show? I don't know why I'm watching again this season. OMG I could not imagine my child having a dance teacher like that. That woman is so rude and nasty. Seriously are there dance teachers out there that truly act that way? (the mom's don't act the best either) My huband came in the room and watched a little of the show and then told me he's changed his mind, I'm not allowed to sign my daughter up for dance class. ( she's 2 1/2 and was thinking of putting her in dance when she was three.. just for fun)
  14. I usually always tip 20%. the service would have to be really bad for me to leave less. On occassion if the the waitor/waitress is really good I leave more.
  15. well usually it's sh#% :tongue_smilie: Sorry, I couldn't resist. actually I think I say Ow when it's not a curse word
  16. I used to work in health insurance. (did for about 12 years) If you go from one health insurance company to another you would not have pre-existing insurance as long as you don't have a gap of maybe 60 days in between coverage. Your previous company should provide a certificate of credible coverage to show how long you had coverage and when it ended. However it you go more than the allowable gap time then the new company can implement pre-existing exclussions Here is a link I found that explains it a little better. http://www.medsave.com/articles/Understanding-a-certificate-of-creditable-coverage.htm
  17. I usually just do the kids only. however this year I came downstairs christmas morning to find a tube sock taped to the mantel of the fireplace along with the other stockings. My 18 year old son advised he thought I should have a stocking too. Inside was loose change he found around the house, candy he took out of the other stockings , sharpie markers he got out of the junk drawer and then he had put a $25 gift card to olive garden that he bought with his own money. I was laughing soo hard as I was pulling everything out of the sock... thankfully he used a clean sock. I will never forget this :001_smile:
  18. several years ago my daughter wanted to paint her room to have 1 black wall and the other 3 pink. I didn't want her to but my husband convinced me to let her because it was only paint. once it was done it actually looked very nice. When she moved out my son moved into her room and we painted the pink walls grey. so now it is 3 grey walls and 1 black and it still looks very nice. I say, Go for it. if you don't like it just re-paint it.
  19. Sounds like Team work to me.:) As long as you are working together I really think you can do it. Goodluck!!
  20. I say the mortgage after I make sure I have at least 4-6 months of salary in savings just in case of an emergency or just in case someone lost their job.
  21. I'm a photographer and my neices and nephews call me Aunt MO. (melissa is hard to pronounce when you are a toddler so 11 years ago with my first nephew I became Mo and it stuck. My husband even calls me Mo 75% of the time)
