  1. Do you use any of these savings tools (or others)? Do they work? I use Ebates and love it. I seem to do the best around Christmas time with it. I used to use the Walmart Savings Catcher, but I have forgotten about it recently. I shop at Walmart regularly, so I should probably give it a try again. What are your experiences like? Is the savings worth the time that goes in to using these services?
  2. Nope! And if I were doing my paid-for work, I could get in huge trouble if I left my laptop in a public space.
  3. Great suggestions!!! The Spinagain toy and the Tickle Monster book are definitely going on my list. Any other suggestions?
  4. Credit karma is free. Maybe sign up there and check your credit reports?
  5. I have an iPhone and can’t seem to find it. Not sure what I’m doing wrong...
  6. Interesting! Is it available on for iPhone?
  7. I need help choosing a few gifts for an almost two year old girl that I’ve never met. I’m part of a foundation that works with families who have children who are going through severe medical issues. The foundation works with the family to provide (non medical) support. We look for a big project that we can do that will be meaningful for the family. For instance, this weekend we are celebrating the completion of an awning and new porch area for a boy and his family. The boy is on a ventilator and the family didn’t have a good way to get him outside. We worked with them to determine what would work and we made it happen! It is just a fabulous organization. Next week, I am taking the lead with a new family. An almost two year old little girl has been diagnosed with cancer. She is still very active and playful. At this time I have no idea what her prognosis is. During the first meeting, the foundation allows us to spend about $50-75 on toys for the little one. My kids are way past this age and I’m just not sure what to take. It would be great to find some items on amazon. I asked her mother what she enjoys playing with and here is her response: She loves blocks and things she can interact with to build or destroy. She loves scooping beans and rice with cups and pretending to eat and drink. She has play food and pots and pans that she enjoys pretending with. Her absolute favorite thing is to raid the cabinets, drawers and pantry and to pull everything out of them. We are in a huge mess making phase right now. If there is a full box, it needs to be emptied lol. Any thoughts on some fun toys I could order to take to my first meeting?
  8. I looked for it and can’t seem to find it.
  9. My just turned 11 year old dd loves American Girl dolls! Today, she likes to write scripts for movies starring her dolls, and then she makes the movies using her iPad. She has gone in and out of playing with them since she got her first doll at age 6. I think that was a good age, but at age 5 you really might want to check out the Wellie Wishers that someone else posted about up thread. My dd was a bit too old for them when they came out, but boy are they cute. My dd just bought her first doll off of eBay. It was Mia, the 2008 doll of the year. We had been planning a trip to visit family in MN and had the chance to visit a store. Dd has planned to buy a new doll and had been saving her money. She got the idea to save a bit and shop on eBay instead and it worked out perfectly! She got the doll for about $70, including shipping, so she saved over $40 on the price of a new doll. Her Mia doll was in excellent condition and other than a run in her tights, she looked brand new. Dd spent the money she saved on shopping at the AG store for a new outfit for her doll.
  10. Bumping because I am curious to know if others have used an air fryer.
  11. The wired headphones that came with my iPhone are about to bite the dust and I’d love to replace them with a wireless pair. Does anyone have wireless headphones that have worked well for you?
  12. Very true! My little annoying chin hairs grow much more quickly when I’m taking collagen. ?
  13. I put my collagen powder in coffee and can’t taste it at all i also add cream and stevia...so maybe that’s why??
  14. I put collagen in my coffee and I feel like it makes my hair grow faster. Here’s a link to the collagen I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005KG7EDU/ref=mp_s_a_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1533721480&sr=8-3&keywords=great+lakes+collagen&dpPl=1&dpID=41e8pJiPxhL&ref=plSrch I’m not sure if it actually makes my hair healthier though.
  15. This thread has gotten so long and it really makes me realize how different family cultures can be. When I had my firstborn, I never blinked an eye at allowing the littlest in my family to hold him. My 4 year old niece came to visit when he was just days old and I still cherish the photo of her proudly holding her new baby cousin. When my best friend visited a few weeks later, I even allowed her 2 year old to hold my precious baby!! Of course, like others have mentioned, my best friend was sitting right beside them and the 2year old was seated and had a boppy with my baby on it. It was quick...she was thrilled and we have a sweet photo to remember that by. In my family, the children are part of things. So when a woman becomes pregnant, we talk about the baby to be in front of the kiddos and they become excited just as the adults are! I can’t imagine not allowing these kids to be able to enjoy a new baby. Again, family cultures are different I guess...
  16. I’m just guessing here (although I’m not the OP so I really have no idea), but I bet that the aunt has been a very important part of the 6yo’s life. Like maybe the doting auntie with no kids of her own. They probably spent a lot of time together and when the aunt found out she was expecting, it was probably a very exciting thing for the 6yo. Since the 6yo is the oldest child, she probably feels very big herself! Now that the baby is here, I bet that the 6yo just assumed that she would get to be part of sharing in this new baby just like all of the other relatives. It is probably disappointing to her that she’s not able to. I absolutely think that the OP needs to respect her sister’s wishes about the baby. However, if they are close, maybe the OP could have a talk with sister just to explain that the 6yo is feeling hurt. She could do it from the perspective of not trying to change sister’s mind, but just letting sister know, since I bet she has always had a special relationship with her 6yo niece I could also be completely wrong about my assumptions! Just guessing...
  17. I’ve never heard of this movie, but I looked it up and came across this article. https://www.vox.com/summer-movies/2018/7/18/17574516/eighth-grade-r-rating-mpaa-teen-movies I have a 14 year old son and it would be great to watch a movie together that might lead to good discussions. Not sure if This movie is the one though.
  18. Any chance you could remember that foods that were used? I’m having trouble thinking through this. Did the kids like it?
  19. I agree that they could handle the oven. I also have a toaster oven that they could use. I think using precooked items would be good though (maybe they could finish the dish in the oven if necessary?). Just to decide which ingredients to use. I like the idea of decorating a cupcake, but just yesterday I made a homemade cake to serve at her party. It is three layers - chocolate, white, and red, and it is decorated in a Stranger Things theme (because she’s turning 11!).
  20. Today is my daughter’s 11th Birthday and I just posted a pic of her on Facebook, along with a little happy birthday wish...and she’s not even on Facebook! Made me think of this thread. My friends do this too, so it seems normal to me I like seeing pics of my friends’ kids and celebrating their happy occasions
  21. Dd is turning 11 and she will be having a sleepover with four of her friends to celebrate. We had planned to go the pool, then come back to our house for pizza, chips, and homemade cake and ice cream. The girls would spend the rest of the night making slime and watching movies. However, the weather is terrible this week and it looks like it will rain on Friday. Since the pool probably won’t happen, we would like to plan a bigger activity to do at home. While researching, we came up with the idea of letting the girls have a Chopped Challenge (like the tv show Chopped). They would split into two groups and I would give them a each a basket of items to use. I would also have a pantry of food items available. They would have 20-30 minutes to create their dish, including plating the food. Then I (or someone) would judge their creations I think this sounds super fun, but I’m having trouble thinking of what to include. The girls are only 11, so I don’t really want them to cook (microwave would be fine). Maybe doing two rounds, with an appetizer and then a dessert? Or even a salad? Can you help me to think of the basket of items to give them and then what to have available in the pantry? I think this sounds like a fun idea for dd’s age group, I’m just having trouble thinking of how to make it work. If you have other fun, sleepover activities for her age group, I would love to hear them as well!
  22. She would keep the same year and could even keep the same month (or not). This would keep his actual date of birth from being linked to his name on the Internet (which is what I think she’s trying to do).
  23. I post these types of things on Facebook as well. Not super gushy, but I usually write something meaningful for my mom and Dad, my husband, and my bff. Just a little shout out to say I love you and think a lot of you. Many of my friends do the same, so it doesn’t seem weird (to me, at least).
  24. I have the Alta HR and I really like it. It is slim and I don’t mind the way it looks on my wrist. You can also buy different bands for it, but I haven’t done so yet. I like to be able to look at my Fitbit regularly to know how many steps I have. It also send me a reminder every hour to get up an move (if I haven’t walked enough that hour). It does track other things, but you don’t really have to look at those things. I do like tracking my sleep, but that’s because I don’t get enough and my Fitbit is helping me focus on getting to bed earlier.
