  8. Morning, all! It's officially our spring break! 😃 Scout, I signed up for a virtual tutorial on Zoom's site that they are offering due to increased demand of online instruction. It's free, just choose a time slot. It's live, so they will be able to answer your questions. It's absolutely pouring here right now, started last night, supposed to last through the day. set up daily journal, make a schedule coffee, morning devotional with our church (pastor and staff are doing an amazing job with morning check ins, virtual prayer circles, stuff for kids) no walks today unless rain lets up, so do an online workout watch some videos on how to use Zoom work on some ideas for virtual book clubs for my students check in with my mom, brother, sister place Amazon order not sure about dinner, probably some type of casserole read, watch tv, etc. Have a great day!
  9. Thanks for this...really needed a resource for my students. I was thinking of virtual book club.
  10. Thank you, this is so timely! Your dd is awesome!
  11. I am in a state that is in lock down. I get that people have to get out. I do, simply to take care of parent, in laws, etc. But I drove by three parks today, people. Park #1, conveniently located next to a very competitive high school sports program, had a full touch football game going on. Looked very organized, easily 20-30 teens, plus adults. Parks #2 and #3, dozens of kids playing on the playground. No social distancing whatsoever. We noticed activity like this at the park across from our house yesterday, today it is cordoned off with cones and caution tape. I get needing to get out for awhile, but at what cost to others?
  12. Home now.. Showered, in comfy clothes, still have to take puppy on her evening walk. Not sure about dinner, but I'm feeling it's a wine type of evening. Dh and I will probably watch the next episode of Hunters Stay safe, and all of you are in our prayers.

  14. I cannot let dd see that pink thread. It's the same color she wants for her hair 🙂.
  15. My ds1 used to love to build obstacle courses in our house (think American Gladiator). This occupied him for hours. He also competed in several Olympic sports/built his own swim lanes, medal podiums. If you can get to an empty parking lot, maybe devise a game around the white lines? Sorry your neighbor isn't more understanding...
  16. Morning, all! We got the news yesterday that we (school) are shut down through May 1. Pretty sure we're done. Meeting today about grading/final grades, then they'll call us. Dh was told to stay home until Tuesday, then expect shift only 3x week. Our governor put us on lockdown, as well. He said expect 1/2 of state to get virus. That is sure to put the panic run on groceries today. grocery run (we have 3 households to buy for) check in on my mom I think like TravelingChris, I have to make some schedules to be more productive with my day Have a great day! Be safe and praying for you all.
  17. I was just curious. You read about how dangerous it is, even after it is dead. Glad you are taking such strong precautions. Stay safe!
  18. Scout, sounds like we're in a similar situation. I wasn't overweight, either, when diagnosed. My doctor also says I will always need medication. I'd love to be rid of the insulin, take something else instead. And no, you're not alone. There's a lot of people on this site that are dealing with this, also. I'm here anytime!
  19. Thanks for this...very helpful in case of emergency.
  20. Selkie, that was frightening! Does someone have to come pick the raccoon up? Sorry, weird question, I know. Glad that you are okay!
  21. Both diet and medication. I was diagnosed with LADA (late adult onset, type 1). I am on insulin (Humalog and Levamir). I did the nutrition classes, was pretty good about eating, but had some slips during the holidays. Things weren't good on my last appointment. I went keto, started intermittent fasting. The levels have dropped dramatically and I can definitely tell the difference. My personal goal is to get off of insulin, but my doctor says that will never happen. I would love to prove him wrong. I have gone from 4 injections a day down to 2-3, depending on levels. I am trying to lose 15 more pounds before my next appt. It's weird, but once I went on the insulin my weight shot up dramatically. The doctor said that was normal because my body was compensating, but I also was eating more than I usually would eat. The dietician gave me a schedule, this many carbs, calories, eat at this time, etc. I wasn't used to that. Let me know if you have any questions! It sounds like you are doing great...
  22. Morning, all! Another rainy day here, cooler temps than normal. I've got to get up and moving and get the puppy walked before the expected big rain hits. I'm wondering what to do with my pile of donations for Goodwill now that they are closed. Open to ideas... To do: coffee, devotional post lessons online walk puppy laundry library run for gardening, miscellaneous books (I keep calling/they say they aren't closing) clean the master bedroom if my back lets me no clue for dinner...being keto sometimes sucks. I would love a big plate of spaghetti and garlic bread. I will have my zoodles and sauce. My blood sugar has stayed consistently between high 80s and 120s. If/when my doctor appt. happens, I hope that is good progress. I'm curious if my A1C has dropped significantly. Have a great day!
  23. The school district I work for has been great. They prepped us pretty well in terms of offering one-on-one tech coaching, lesson planning, etc. We were told to take social/emotional well being into account, limited access to technology, etc., also that students would be filling in additional roles at home. Kids filled out surveys and contact forms the week before we closed in every class. Hard copies of lessons were provided to those that either preferred/needed them, had no devices to access from home. We planned for two weeks, taking one off for spring break. Our school office has remained open for this week, checking out chrome books along with the internet options available to them. Admin has called all of us, we have all shared students that are struggling and need additional resources. They also have a list of students that they check in with. That being said, the workload has run the gamut: same as before, little-to-none, and you-can't-sit-home-and-do-nothing. Dd's assignments are exactly the same for AP Environmental (study guides, College Board, Edulastic). Her drama and art class are minimal. Her English class is non-existent, one assignment for the entire week...took five minutes. I think this whole thing has forced some of our teachers to face their fear of technology in the classroom. Some have run with it, but others...meh. Now, if we shut down completely (which I do think is going to happen), I share the same concerns. My own dd is in the same boat as MEmama's. She has worked hard to raise her APES grade. One of her friends is being recruited for baseball by a D1 school, is remediating a grade in an after school class. I'm guessing NCAA will take this into consideration. I'm assuming they are going to have to figure a way to give the AP tests? How will this be possible with gatherings of 10 or less? Next year is going to be really interesting in terms of college admissions.
  24. Good morning, all! Happy Birthday, Jen! I've posted all my assignments for the day, along with school announcements. If they let me, I might volunteer with some other staff to help pass out lunches later in the morning. Kids from the middle school showed up also...we fed them, as well. To do: kick sciatica's butt (why now/when I have time to do house things/garden?) volunteer with lunches? plan small container garden for salad stuff, small veggies laundry run vacuum, mop floors have dd post her daily agenda/due dates on her white board try to exercise, stretch out my lower back attempt to make tortillas because there are none at the stores steak quesadillas for dinner, salad read, Netflix, Advil and my tens machine Have a great day!
