Off to buy Benadryl and some other staples, and maybe some dye free laundry soap for now. Yuck. 4. Morning, all! Pink and Green-promposals are serious business! It will start for us after spring break...crazy times. Our internet was out most of the day yesterday, missing our Verizon service so much. Ds's car was fixed, but dh noticed water dripping after he got home, so I have dh's mammoth car to drive today. 7. Jean, that's great news! I've cut down to 20 carbs per day, hoping for improvement. It's definitely made a huge difference, but makes going through certain shopping aisles torture. Thankfully, someone on the boards mentioned this, and it's actually pretty good.
  8. Morning, all! I should not have read all the car threads on here and got car envy. We are not in the market for a car right now. So, of course, Ds's car dies, more money to fix it than it's worth. I think I know what I want in a new car, but wasn't planning on doing this so soon (hybrid, good cargo space, dog friendly). We will replace one major part in the car, probably give him my car, and start a search. Thankfully, it's spring break for me so I technically don't need a car. Anyways, to do: drop dh off at work coffee, breakfast place order a Bed, Bath and Beyond for pick up place Amazon order finish books so I can make a library run in afternoon research used cars watch some basketball Costco run pick up dh at work possible movie/dinner date with dh read, relax Have a great day!
  9. If I could make a suggestion, I would contact MysteryJen on this board. Her eldest dd was college swimmer, and younger is being recruited as well. She has oodles of experience with this. For us, eldest ds was an elite baseball player, highly recruited. The majority of contact was just that: contacts. Invites to elite camps, etc. At the end of the day, you will truly know who wants you. We had ds look past his playing days and envision his life 15 years from that point, and that is how he made his ultimate decision. It's definitely an exciting time for your dd! Good luck to you...

  14. Seton Home Study. It's Catholic, but no nonsense, straight to the point. Clear syllabus, tests, expectations right out of the gate. Ds used this for geography, history for 10th grade. Dd completed her 9th grade year using the complete curriculum, although she did choose to take the math tests online (instant feedback).

    Thanks

I have told my own kids multiple times to call a parent if another teacher/admin gets involved. Yes, your daughter did the reasonable thing. Our motto is "if you see something, say something." Your daughter witnessed something, did the right thing. The teacher has gone overboard by calling in another teacher to witness (because that is what it was for) and the principal. I'm shocked that a principal would become involved in something like that without proper chain of authority. This teacher is a real problem. You have to call her on it. You need to: 1. set up meeting 2. have summary of what was said by your child and friend 3. ask what the school's policy is on bullying (because your daughter was bullied/name called by an adult in position of authority) 4. ask why your daughter is being excluded from the same rights that other students have (dismissal time) 4. inform them that you plan on filing a complaint with the district office, will request a meeting with district personnel (if this is public school) There is no way that something like this should happen in a classroom. There is no way I would let my kid be disrespected like this. An adult just told your child to lie.
  17. All this rain has brought a super bloom of wildflowers, so we will be checking them out. We are taking a group of our juniors on a college trip to Northern California, and it is usually quite fun. The last week of March is our spring break, so we will try to do something for a few days.
  18. Did anyone read the section where if wrong pronouns were used to refer to the teen, it would be considered an act of violence under the Family Law act? It's hard to change language habits, particularly when adjusting to personal pronouns. What if someone slips up, in this case the father. Is he going to be accused of domestic violence?
  19. Morning, all! Rained all yesterday, a bit of a break today. To do: coffee (trying out a new keto creamer instead of my usual half and half)(I don't like sugar in my coffee/this tastes really sweet) make shopping list for Trader Joe's, Costco church? breakfast/early lunch out, depending on what we decide to do with the day pick up my new glasses! really need to go to the gym finish grading essays finish budget worksheet for financial planner Was thinking about buying one of the smokeless indoor grills I see advertised because we really miss our bbq from the old house. We haven't done any work on the backyard at the new house, plus the non-stop rain make buying an outside one impractical right now. Read for 52 week challenge Have a great day!
  20. Morning, all! Jean, good luck on your 5k walk! 21. First of all, hugs... I seem to remember some homeschooling book, don't remember which one, that dealt with this age group and having multiple children. Do you have a scheduled quiet time/in our rooms reading or doing Legos-type activity? You have to have a break for yourself. Lots of hugs and prayers...
