I am in northwestern Pa. We have had a record breaking snowfall of 50" in 30 hours, and it is still coming down. Yes, you read that correctly, 50 inches. State of emergency has been declared and we are all buried in our homes under piles of snow! So, yes, we had a white Christmas...and then some! LOL.

I have been a member of this forum for a little over two years even though I have rarely posted. I read the forums everyday (multiple times most days). I have used this forum so much in our homeschooling journey. It really has lead me in the right direction and I am eternally grateful to everyone here for sharing so much. But...I will admit to being extremely intimidated by the troll hunting. I feel like I understand what sets the hive off then a post gets made that doesn't hardly even get on my radar and the whole thing blows up. I can't help but worry a bit about the possibility that some of the trolls could have been legit. Why can't trolls just be ignored? Aren't they looking for attention? The threads with potential troll action seem to be the hottest threads going. I just feel like I can't keep up. I really do love these forums and credit them for the success of our homeschool, but the forums can be unpredictable for newbies (I don't even feel like a newbie even though I would be considered one. No one "knows" me yet because of my low post count). Karen

This is exactly what my kidney stone felt like. Unfortunately I found out rather quickly why people always say kidney stones hurt so much. My pain greatly intensified after about 12 hours, but dull cramp-like pain is how it started. Karen

There is an app in iTunes app store called AppShopper. You can search apps and track their pricing using this app. It even allows you to set up a wish list and the app will email you when there is a price drop. This app has helped me catch many app sales.

We just bought the Seidio ACTIVE Case with Multi-Purpose Cover for my daughter's iPad. We ordered it from Amazon, but I do not know how to add a link! :blushing: So far we love it. It has a silicone inner case with a seperate hard outer shell that gives extra protection to the corners. The front cover is a hard shell that converts to a sturdy stand. We face time with family several times a week so having a stand was essential. The hard cover is also nice for traveling with the iPad. We love the look and feel of this case. So far it has been a big hit.

I can see where not checking work for a month might enable a child to lie, but it seems that the first time the DD lied it had not been a month since the work was checked. So while not checking the work might have contributed to her continual lying it would not have been the original cause of the first lie. I think I would use natural consequences here (no fun stuff until work is made up) and try to move on with a focus on accountability for DD. Karen

Do you mean a trackball? Those are available in wireless. Logitech makes one. We use wireless trackballs on all our computers and love them. Karen

CNN is saying he was killed in a mansion outside Islamabad.

We have DSL and ALL of our devices are wireless (ipod touch, two desktops, wii and a laptop). We have never had any problems with Netflix. Our internet doesn't give us any trouble. I have never had cable internet so I can't compare the speed to DSL.

We did the Monuments by Moonlight tour at the end of August. Our tour stopped at the Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Iwo Jima Memorial. We also drove by many other monuments and buildings (including the Capitol and White House). The whole tour lasted about 2 hours. The tour guide was fantastic. He told us so much about each place and had funny stories to add! Washington DC is beautiful at night and we had a great time on this tour.

Hi. I was wondering if there are multiple ways to change the display mode? I have went to the User Control Panel and tried to change the options, but I cannot get out of hybrid mode. When I go back to the forum I am still in hybrid mode no matter what setting I choose in the control panel. (The options say that I am in linear mode, but when I look at a thread it is still in hybrid mode). I would like to look at the threads using linear mode. I have been reading the boards forever and have just joined! What an awesome place! Thank you Karen
