  1. Angel Food cake, Lemon curd, puddings, French toast casserole is all I can think of right now. I do love German pancakes too. The French toast casserole can be made ahead and frozen until you need it.
  2. These work great if you know what you are doing and buy the correct size for your daughter's hair type.
  3. :iagree:The hair net is the key. You will also want to gel back all her little fly away hairs from her face. Otherwise she will have a shadow on her face from the stage lights. Strange, but true. I also highly recommend going to your local dance shop and picking up the large, huge hair pins that dancers use. The little hair or bobby pins from the super market or drug store just don't do the trick. They usually come in a package of six, but thats all you will need if you are using a hair net. The dance store will sell hair nets as well. I found them to last longer, and they had a better color selection to match my daughters' hair color.
  4. Oh. I also count their Religious Education classes and their time serving on our church's Teen, Girl and Children's choirs as music class.
  5. :iagree:I count all of those except my girls are not taking flying lessons. ;) I counted my girls ballet classes for years, and now I am counting their ice skating lessons. Their coach describes the science of ice skating to them. I don't count it as such, but she would. I also count any trips to the ice rink to practice as school. Plus, I count our daily exercise walks on our nature trails as school. Watching and discussing the news and any educational channel is school as well.
  6. :iagree:This is what we do to. My daughters have never had sunburn. I rarely use sunscreen when I am here at home. Only when I am out all day in the sun with no possible place to go indoors or when I am on vacation in a warmer more sunny climate.
  7. We took off on Sunday due to rain. Today, we walked for 2.5 miles on our nature trail. I am really starting to dislike those tree roots.:glare:
  8. I wasn't serious. I am smarter now then I was back then. I would trade that for...;) ETA: Hey! how did you write over 17,000 posts? When did that happen?:001_huh:
  9. :grouphug:Thank you, Paula. Dreaming of being 25 again with a Brazilin accent.
  10. Sunday: 2.25 mile walk on nature trails. Monday: 2.5 mile walk on nature trails. Tuesday: day off Wednesday: 1.5 mile walk on nature trails. Thursday: 2.5 mile walk on nature trails. I have a personal trainer, my 14 year old daughter. She is quite the little drill sergeant.:001_smile:
  11. A friend once told me. Sometimes he is just a paycheck, and sometimes I'm just dinner.:tongue_smilie:
  12. I happen to own a Kitchen Aid mixer. They actually make an ice cream maker attachment. It works well.
  13. I have only made ice cream with raw cream. It was very thick and rich. I would give raw milk a try at least once. Who knows. It might work.
  14. No, my children do not have a TV in their bedrooms. We watch TV as a family.
  15. We are okay considering what we are going through. I miss you.

  16. Would it? When it involves social services? I am not sure that it would be public record since social services are kept private.
  17. I thought they did get involved in a divorce case in Maine. You are right, they usually will not get involved in most divorce cases. HSLDA believes our right to homeschool our children comes from our parental rights. Both parents have these rights and when you join HSLDA, they are representing both parents' rights to homeschool. That is if they wish to homeschool. They will enter into a divorce case if it will effect all homeschoolers from what I have seen.
  18. Yes, I am a member of HSLDA. They are a wonderful organization. You can PM me if you would like.
  19. :iagree:except for your last sentence. Because of HIPA, it would be impossible for the hospital to share their side. I have never seen HSLDA misrepresent the facts.
  20. I don't know. I have heard of things like this happenning. It may not be a homeschooling issue which is why the parents most likely didn't call HSLDA right away before the situation got out of hand. They are a homeschooling family. I have no problem with HSLDA asking for donations to cover this case since it is not a homeschooling case and funds collected from homeschooling membership should not be used on a non-homeschooling case. I would have an issue with them if they didn't.
