  1. :iagree: :iagree: Seeing that on the chart suprized me yesterday. I instantly thought of doctors and nurses curing and helping the sick. How is that evil? A mother nursing her baby. People raising money for those in need and giving freely of themselves to others.
  2. My dd11 askes me to buy her clothes and then doesn't wear them.:glare:
  3. Yes, the sheets and skillet are my sandwich press, and I did pre-heat them. This was my first try. I was going after a crispy crust and creamy inside which I did acheive. I also started with a good quality all natural bread. There was no need to oil the sheets either.
  4. A Cuban sandwich is made on Cuban bread which I don't have. I used a hoagie roll instead. I sliced open the roll and put mustard on both sides. I added a slice of Swiss cheese on each side. On one side only, I placed slices of pork loin to cover the cheese. Add a few sliced dill pickles and one slice of ham. Place other half of roll on top I preheated my oven to 475 degrees with the 2 cookie sheets and iron skillet in side. Once heated, I removed one cookie sheet and placed all 4 sandwiches on it and immediately placed it back on the oven rack. I put the second cookie sheet on top and my iron skillet on top of the the second cookie sheet. I am not sure on the length of time I had them in the oven: 5 to 10 minutes maybe. I just waited to see the cheese melting.
  5. I don't own a pani press, so I used 2 preheated cookie sheets and my cast iron skillet in a very hot oven.
  6. I made Cuban sandwiches tonight with my left over pork loin. They were a big hit with the family.
  7. We always do finger food and call it our junk food night. I serve my family food like chicken wings, shrimp, cheese and crackers.
  8. I am finding this link which was posted earlier to be very interesting. Thanks.
  9. Thank you for your 2 cents. It was well worth the read IMHO.:001_smile:
  10. I want to thank the OP and the rest of the posters here for a very interesting and informative discussion.:001_smile:
  11. This has to do with the difference between Catholic and Orthodox teachings? Yes? Can anyone explain the difference?
  12. Thank you, Mary. This has been quite helpful as it has confirmed my research on the series.
  13. I think she or her father may have been referring to the ones not in full communion with the Holy See. I can't think of their name, but Mel Gibson belongs to one of them: a P_____ the 10th. It starts with a P. ????
  14. As for infant baptism, Christian parents profess faith for their children just as Jewish parents of the Old Testament did when circumcising their male infants. St. Paul refers to baptism as a "...circumcision not administered by hand." Colossians 2:11
  15. The OP kindly editted her post after Asenik posted.:001_smile: I know since I was about to post the same answer.
  16. I was raised by parents who had a very strict Catholic back ground themselves, but who were greatly infulenced by the flower children of the 60s and 70s. So, my up bringing in the Church wasn't so great. I ended up being a lasped Catholic by the time I hit my 20s. I along with my dh and our girls returned to our Catholic faith 4 years ago this Jan 1st. Before we returned, I did look into other churches lightly. I kept coming back to the fact that Jesus called Peter the rock on which he would build his Church. The Church he built is the Catholic Church. There are many other differences such as with the Pope, the Eucharist, and Church authority.
  17. Martha, I let this sit for awhile to think on it. You have read more into what I have wrote. The OPs question is about dealing with differences in family's gift giving to their children. I was pointing out a difference between my family and a friend's family of mine without judgement. And I never even hinted at My kids are well disciplined spoiled brats.;) This was the first year I even had a budget for Christmas. I never said the family was wrong to make their choice: just different from ours.
