  1. Some libraries have Mango for fee. I have not used So You Really Want to Learn Spanish, but have heard good things about it. If your library carries Pimsleur Spanish it might be a good supplement to whichever program you end up choosing. Livemocha might also be a good supplement (and it's free).

  3. Does it have to be Spanish? Could you try Latin or Greek? The speaking component is less important. For Spanish, the homeschool version of Rosetta Stone has a workbook to go along with it.
  4. Here is one where there is an equally split arrow, but it's fairly simple.
  5. What's with all the quotation marks? Apparently, he isn't really walking, talking, doesn't really wear armor, has never been in a battle and doesn't believe in the Holy Ghost. On a separate note, I would find that offensive and don't think you're being overly sensitive.
  6. The entire book is disturbing and heartbreaking. Those are just a few examples. He also recommends using a large branch or belt on an older child (older being defined as 2+ or so).
  7. I completely agree. Thinking about the poor children whose parents use these methods makes me sick.:sad:
  8. For those of you who believe the Pearls are not that bad, here are some quotes from To Train Up a Child (bolding mine).
  9. I would never even train an animal with the techniques the Pearls suggest using on children. I agree; it is so sad.:sad: The Pearls are sick, twisted people.
  10. The probable cause PDF said that the older children would discipline (switch) Hanna.:sad:
  11. :crying::crying: So heartbreaking. For those of you who wish to read what the Pearls have written, but refuse to buy their books, To Train Up a Child is available for free here and the articles on their website reveal a lot about their views.
  12. I think the person who said that mentioned that they used PDFexpert.
  13. You could do Science Shepherd Biology and Life Science. The Life Science has almost all the same topics as the Biology, the information is just simpler.
  14. :confused::confused::confused: I don't understand the lesson. At all.
  15. Yes, however much of the difficulty of AoPS is the depth and not necessarily different topics (although they do cover topics outside the normal scope). For example, within sequences and series, they cover arithmetic sequences and series, geometric sequences and series, telescoping sequences and series, recursive series, Sigma notation, and nested sums, plus a few other topics. ETA: Sequences, series, and induction definitely are difficult. Those three chapters are considered among the most difficult in Intermediate Algebra.
  16. All of those topics are in AoPS' algebra books. Some of the topics are in the Intro to Algebra book, some in the Intermediate Algebra book, and some in both books.
