  1. Apologies if I have missed this, but how old is the cat? Has he lost weight?
  2. I'm not familiar with programs in Spain, but it would help for you to clarify. Are you looking for a week or month-long program, or are you looking for something like a year-long boarding school, etc.?
  3. My experience is that tent size considers that people will sleep in "mummy"-style sleeping bags. Our 5-person Wenzel tent is perfect for our three (smallish) campers in non-mummy bags. I love it because it is so very easy to put together (two rods).
  4. Thanks, everyone! I'll give it another day or so before phoning. I also received a download link for the PDF files.
  5. Has anyone received the exam? (Mine has to be couriered from my PO box in the US, so I'll be under a bit of a time crunch.) I tried to e-mail via the ETC website, but it was kicked. I can phone but thought I'd check here first.
  6. Phone the florist who delivered and ask who the sender is. Unless the sender wants it to be a secret the florist should be able to tell you who placed the order.
  7. We do a simple trail mix (nuts, chocolate pieces, and raisins) and fruit: bananas, watermelon, and/or mango. After the touney we go for tacos! Jenn, I don't know if they have this where you are, but I buy small packets of powdered hydration/electrolite solution at the pharmacy. The pack is mixed in a bottle of water, and it's colorless.
  8. How about turning memorization and play familiarity into a game? Put lines from the play onto index cards and shuffle them. Draw one and ask which character said it. First to answer gets a jelly bean, etc. Bonus questions might include which act the line came from or stating the line that comes next. Or you could read a line, and if the person who is playing that character can say his/her next line, then they get a small treat. My drama kids used to love a little teacher-student competition: I’d put some lines on index cards and one would be drawn. Either an individual student or the entire group had to do a goofy little dance if someone didn’t know the next line but I did. If I couldn’t say the line, I’d do the dance. This was ages ago….My memory was a heck of a lot better before having my own children!
  9. I would never bother the husband about household expenses (and it would be a bother to him). He doesn't ask me if he can purchase ABC and I don't ask him if I can buy XYZ. Neither of us need babysitters; we're adults, have busy lives, and trust each other to act in our family's best interest. I do, however, talk to him about taking our children on overnight trips (e.g., camping) or to discuss large purchases. I do it so that he is in touch with what we plan to do, and so that I can ensure it won't be an inconvenience to him (i.e., He might need the car or want to see the table I've selected.). Likewise, he discusses large purchases with me.
  10. Hapkido: nunchaku, staffs of various sizes, swords, ropes, etc. Wikipedia (Hapkido): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hapkido
  11. Thanks! I'm going to check out Music Ace, and try another trial of MLC. Kiddos are 8 and 10.
  12. No, not all of the EM books are available. The ones that are available--at least the ones I have tried--appear to have all units, but it is not a EM "all you can eat" scheme. (i.e., there are some EM books not available with the TFB subscription)
  13. Thanks, Mom2Es. Some while ago we tried the trial but I didn't check it out as well as I should have.... My kids are taking music lessons, and we are happy with the instruction; however, the emphasis is more on performance. If anyone knows of a good online program for music theory, I'd appreciate a recommendation.
  14. Does anyone use Music Learning Community? If so, what do you think? Is there another program you prefer? MLC is on sale at the co-op .... I'd like my children to learn some basic music theory in a low-key (no pun intended) way.
  15. In our area of the world, the only place for non-infants to get their ears pierced are tattoo parlors. My 9 yo had hers pierced at one last year; she said it didn't hurt much, and we were both happy with the experience. I agree with Suzanne about finding a professional studio.
  16. Five in a Row books for I and II ! (You may wish to include the TMs too.) Vol I: https://www.rainbowresource.com/prodlist.php?subject=Curriculum/2&category=Books+Used+in+Five+in+a+Row+Vol.+1/9077 Vol II: https://www.rainbowresource.com/prodlist.php?subject=Curriculum/2&category=Books+Used+in+Five+in+a+Row+Vol.+2/9078 Rainbow, the company that supplies the FIAR materials, will ship abroad.
  17. I agree!!! Over Christmas holiday I was discussing this with an older friend (very well-educated). He mentioned how much he appreciated the book but cited its "brutality". This is not meant to be a snarky question ... but how many of the recommended works has your husband read? Did he read them at age eight?
  18. I assume the same as idnib. This is from their site: "The deadline for applying for the exam is Jan. 15, 2016. The period during which the test may be administered is February 22 - March 4, 2016." I just ordered the exam I want (and didn't have to indicate the student name or grade), but maybe someone who has BTDT will chime in.
  19. Thank you! When I insert the disk in the DVD player the lesson plans/materials don't show, but they do on my desktop. Yea!
  20. The registration deadline is January 15th. I'm bumping this in case anyone else has waited until the last minute. :001_smile:
  21. Is there a link to the supply lists for Home Art Studio that is broken down by individual lessons? We're doing a lesson ever-so-often, so the lists by grade aren't so useful.
  22. Waiters are often educated on what is in the food they are serving. Ask if there is sugar in an item. A waiter may not know, but he/she can ask the cook/chef; that is part of their job. If they refuse, ask to see the manager. You can also ask that items at restaurants be prepared w/o sugar. Be flexible: perhaps you can’t have a special salad you love, but the chef might make you a tasty substitute (and/or you might bring a small container of sensible dressing from home).
  23. Does she have access to a microwave and freezer? If so, can someone make some food and freeze it for her (perhaps a plastic container filled with sandwich-sized plastic bags)? Items like curries, stews, and chili would be very easy to package individually and so would burrito-style items (use corn or GF tortillas). Does the cafeteria have a salad bar? If so, can she keep extra items on-hand and eat with her friends?
  24. Hunter, thanks so much for these resources!!! I'm good on software for downloads. I have only just clicked on Hoopla ... and I know how I'm going to be spending my evening. Yea!!!
