  1. Your story resonates with me. @BakersDozen, every summer we as a family get together at the Outer Banks. It's a chilled out week where people swim as they like, go to the beach some, come up with random, wacky, spontaneous outings. We read a lot in the sun and play card and board games in the evenings. We've done this with my parents (now just my dad) for seven years and have always invited my in laws (for a separate time, not together! ) to come to the beach. This year we asked again. My MIL said we never asked them to come (yes we have, every year) and she claimed my FIL doesn't like the beach (we aren't on the beachfront nor do we force people to go to the beach). The reality is she doesn't like when she's not the center of attention, controlling everything that happens. My feeling is that your situation is very similar. Feeling grief from seeing that she cannot find any happiness (even the introverts understand that some other people will get happiness from the mass o'people) is normal. You just enjoy your family - you have a blessing right there!
  2. But flying with American through a third party provider can be trouble nowadays with all the delays as the Priceline and Expedia people have to deal with their company not the airline.
  3. My mom was known for her potato salad. I made it this summer at the beach house. Dad thought it was pretty good. She was also known for her bulgogi (Korean grilled beef). My dad's on my case to make that but he doesn't think I can make it like mom. I'm known for my chocolate chip cookies and my chicken schnitzel. There are women who have babies just so I can bring them a schnitzel dinner. Lol
  4. Beautiful news! I will keep up my prayers for you.
  5. @DawnM. This one is for real! https://mommydeals-1c114.kxcdn.com/deal/77471/stanley-drinkware
  6. Yes you will need to sign up but you can use fake names, just make sure the fake names match on both websites so I know they are the same people." Thanks!
  7. Hello everyone! I have created this mini website and quiz to test people's knowledge about the U.S Constitution to gather data and information for a competition I am entering. If you have the time, I would love it if you could take a look at it. Thank you!! A tip: when you tap the quiz button on the first website, it will take you to a new website, you will need to create a new account, they are two separate websites. Let me know if you have any trouble. Also, please report your quiz results back to me so I have the results. Thank you so much! https://shorturl.at/cEMY4
  8. Oh no! I'm so sorry. I hope your husband and those closest to you can give you more support and love to help you through this fresh pain.
  9. Peeling is only necessary if you want chunky hummus. I puree the beans with skins for 7-10 minutes with garlic and the lemon juice or olive oil. Then add in the techina (lots), salt, lemon juice, and olive oil. Then puree for 3 more minutes. Fluffy, yummy hummus.
  10. Oh golly. This sounds so familiar. My MIL....
  11. I have no good advice but isn't it always that nothing good comes from trying to do good? Sigh.... I hope you get good advice!
  12. With that description it sounds like you have a tight ilias or psoas. Some chiropractors and PTs know how to stretch them so you don't get the pain. I have a Hip Hook to help me.
  13. I've made all of the above. My family isn't so thrilled about them all though. They like lighter fruit desserts. Boo on them a
  14. I was going to come and say Georgian or Bucharian food in Queens as well. So yummy and different tasting!
  15. I'm continuing to pray for you and your family.
  16. Please have them look into this. It's mostly a diagnosis based on blood work and exclusion. It's rare but there is treatment (new drug just came out in the US. I can find out what it is).
  17. No hordes of children. I like kids one on one or in small groups. I hate teaching large groups of children. Because I home educated, the local Jewish schools think I want to teach. No way Jose! Nothing up high please. I'm not totally fearful of heights but why make me age before my time?
  18. My youngest (of four children) is heading to high school in NY this year (unexpected but hopefully a terrific journey) So I am done homeschooling my own and almost to an empty nest as my older two boys are in college and out of the house. My daughter is a high school senior and she is researching colleges now. I might have my youngest's best friend who I have been tutoring for five years. Supposedly he is going to the private school he attends part time. They are getting push back from the school and they (and I) know there is a very large likelyhood that he will learn nothing there (and perhaps worse regress in his academic abilities). So I left the door open to them. I am supposed to become the Executive Director of our community mikvah (ritual immersion pools). I work there already in a lower level position. I have the exact skill set they need for this position. But the board is in absolute disarray and I'm not interested in trying to lead a recalcitrant group of people not interested in transparency and effective leadership. We will see if they listen to me (and one board member/donor). If that all falls through I am considering some classes to get a post baccalaurate with a (crazy) eye to applying to medical school. Or getting my certificate in Chaplaincy. We will see. Blessings and prayers to all those in flux!
  19. It's kind of a riff off of the slogan, "I am my ancestors wildest dreams" https://medium.com/@RachelDecoste/my-ancestors-wildest-dreams-more-than-a-t-shirt-slogan-4da0dbdc293b
  20. Some of these people 🤐 are certainly going to insist on this outside hiking stuff. Not me! The best hike is an inside hike with snacks!
