  1. Which edition is the "right" edition? 1988? I am double checking because the used TE is $50. :glare: Thanks!
  2. If the pain returns, I think you should insist on an ultrasound. I had a fibroid tumor growing on an ovary. Pain would come and go, starting in high school. Right after college, the tumor completely twisted my ovary around and I was in severe pain. The first doctor I went to told me it was "just a cyst" and sent me home. I would have died if I had not gone to another hospital. I had to have emergency surgery, lost the ovary, and have been dealing with massive scar tissue issues ever since.
  3. We are excited. I do wish that she would put the work in to make the script into a novel. But yes, we still get excited about all things HP.
  4. If I switched from CLE 7, I would switch to LoF what level??? Is this a stand alone program, or is this something that most people use as a supplement? Thanks!
  5. We need to switch math. We have been struggling through CLE 7. I love CLE, but at this point I think that it is too spiral for my son. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  6. We have been using CLE. While I appreciate the way it spirals, it has become too much for my 7th grader. I feel like he would be doing better, and life would be less stressful, if he had a different math program. I'm looking for something that is Pre-Algebra, or something that stretches Algebra out over 2 years. Someone I know suggested Math U See, but I can't fathom spending $160 to buy all of the separate components. Thanks!
  7. It does get much worse if it's not treated. It will get dry, cracked, and blistery too. ETA: It started out as just one itchy spot on one finger.
  8. I have psoriasis on my hands. I have never experienced it anywhere else. It presents itself like an itchy rash - very similar to poison ivy. A steroid cream helps when it is out of control, but constant maintenance with a natural lotion (I use Burt's Bees) does wonders. I have to be very consistent with lotion throughout the day though.
  9. After reading your posts, I think you should go for it if you can afford it. :grouphug:
  10. I have thought of this. And, I'm trying very hard to stick to my "Make no homeschool decisions in February" rule (which is very similar to my rule of "Don't decide to move out of TX in August" - when it is 110*). Rules are rules for a reason. :willy_nilly:
  11. I'm not sure how much longer we will be able to keep going. :svengo: My 7th grader's work is getting more difficult. He's not a natural student and requires a lot of my time. I feel like I'm always trying to squeeze the middle two kids in, and we are always playing catch up. The toddler is not happy just going along with the flow. Trying to manage her while teaching the others seems impossible. And, I'm not having any fun. Really, this is just not enjoyable. I dread the complications and issues we would face if we put them in school. (Who wants to do homework at night?) We can't afford private school and the thought of throwing them in public school makes me feel sick. Anyway... who wants to commiserate with me?
  12. Yes, I agree that it is a huge advantage.
  13. Two of mine were only 12 months apart. I had a 4 1/2 year old, a one year old, and a newborn. It was hard, and wild, and crazy. And yes, there was a lot of crying. But, it's not impossible. You can do it. 😊
  14. Was the steam function working? My guess is that the iron heated up but the steam holes (for lack of a better word) were clogged. There is a way to clean your iron using vinegar which would help to unclog the holes.
  15. When you are sick and you hand off both school work and the toddler to your older kids, knowing that the two are an impossible combination. :(
  16. Thank you for all of the feedback! I am relieved to hear that it is not just us. I thought I had seen just about everything, and then we learned how to diagram a gerund. :svengo:
  17. I am also interested in suggestions for next year. :bigear: I think we may just finish 705, and then jump to 707 which is a book study. And then I may focus on EIW for the rest of this year.
  18. I was hoping to make it through the whole year, but I think it's just getting ridiculous. We don't need this kind of frustration in our lives. I had a good education, and I never learned this much grammar. And, we don't have time for things like Literature and Writing because grammar is a time suck. I could go on and on.. Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations? We are almost through 705. Thanks!
  19. It is common for my kids to grab a book during breakfast and lunch. Dinner is book-free.
  20. Oh goodness. In our house we swear by the magic of Leap Frog Letter Factory, and that is all about associating letters with sounds by pictures and phrases: Flying F's, W says "W..W..W.. What's happening dude?" It is very effective.
  21. Yes. We went to Disney often when I was in high school and college, and we had so much fun.
  22. I love Neil Diamond. My 2 year old sings "Sweet Caroline." 😊
