  1. My husband had something like this about 8 years ago. Before that he NEVER Got sick -- he had pneumonia or bronchitis at that time that he resisted going to the doctor over, was sick for a long time and finally went. But ever since, almost every year he gets sick with something respiratory. We think it damaged his lungs and made him more susceptible.
  2. My kids use google classroom in school -- so all the apps they use are online. I notice problems with the google docs, spreadsheet, etc. but my kids have been able to complete their schoolwork with those apps (and occasional others as assigned by teacher -- but they have NEVER yet needed Microsoft Office or other hard drive based software) The only consideration for me would be having the ability to work "Offline" If you were going to be away from Internet for a time (our local Internet went out when my son was a couple days away from science fair due. We went to Wendy's, downloaded the google doc for use offline, then went home and continued to work on it. We later uploaded it when Internet came back on.)
  3. Agreed. I don't like people disappearing without a word also!
  4. My girl (also bible name) would have been Daniel Isaiah. I am a little sad we are probably done (since she is almost 9) and will never get to use the name
  5. I had a septum straightened because of breathing out of my mouth instead of my nose. No idea how much good it has done.
  6. Actually yes. See that section "Saved for Later" underneath the cart proper? I know I have things in there that have been there for years.. I ought to clean it out probably
  7. Well, the webpage says that the current Kindle (all three -- Kindle, current generation Paperwhite, and Oasis) will play Audible audiobooks through Bluetooth. Here's instructions: https://www.filelem.com/listen-to-audible-on-kindle/#:~:text=How to Play Audible on,Amazon Kindle . More items (And now I wonder if what I have is 7th or not) Clara is likely NOT "Kindle" but Kobo -- so a competitor. I don't know much about it.
  8. My son turned 12 this year. For Christmas he got his own Amazon account (that mom has the email and password to) and a large gift card so he can start buying content that will go with him to adulthood. I figure he's starting to read books, some of which he will want access to as he grows up. So now is the time to let him buy his own books to keep them.
  9. The Kindle Paperwhite (7th Generation) does play books by reading it (I'm not sure if it plays audiobooks. Haven't played with that). But you need a bluetooth speaker to do so. INo video games so far as I know. i've never heard of the Kindle Clara. Get the 32 gig.
  10. Yeah, my husband is essential personnel but it was really nice the 6 weeks or so he only worked half days. Now, of course, he's working many weekends and even worked Memorial Day. 😞 So they are making up for the quiet days. Some things have gotten back to normal here -- no sports though.
  11. We had a dystopian/utopian unit in 7th grade English It included Brave New World Lord of the Flies Fahrenheit 751 Jonathan Livingston Seagull The book I always forget about a plane that crashed in Shangri-La. Rime of the Ancient Mariner ETA: And Animal Farm And Nineteen Eighty Four (we read it in 1985 or 1986 so we knew the date was off)
  12. When guests are here I stay in full clothes until I'm about to crawl into bed. Normally I get into PJs earlier.
  13. Has anyone seen the new flavor of M&Ms out -- Fudge Brownie?
  14. I wish I lived closer. I'd make brownies to bring over for your kids. Growing up, all birthday "cakes" were brownies. To this day, I choose brownies for my birthday treat.
  15. My daughter's AHG camp is running the last week of July so we are going then. We might drive to Corpus Christi to play on the beaches. We aren't flying anywhere.
  16. The box instructions do have instructions for making them "cake like" But I've never seen the point.
  17. ..I can't imagine dry and bitter brownies. Of course I've never been able to make brownies I like without a mix (Duncan Hines I believe is my favorite. though there are two that are sold near each other that I'm always forgetting the difference and usually end up buying whichever is cheaper of them)
  18. I was going to say the Chocolate. I choose there is nothing wrong with a brownie. I like the edges. I like the middles. I just like brownies.
  19. I feel like I've seen this theorized before. This is just more detailed look at the idea.
  20. In our family, my accounting degree with experience has made it much easier for me to find jobs than my husband (with two Bachelors and a Masters). OTOH I don't work in the mathematics or economics field) My friend in accounting is taking the tests as she works -- and the tests are the big thing she says.
  21. My boss called me last week with the same. He's willing to wait until June 8 when our preferred childcare camp opens locally. And yes I'm the last. I'm not that stressed though. People are wearing masks in the office I discovered. (was there for a meeting last Friday) And I talked to the owner of the company so I think being back home intermittently in the future will be fine -- they just want me in the office for a new supervisor/new mail program they are loading and my boss feels better scheduling meetings when I'm there than ahead of time for me to plan to be there.
  22. I wish I could have continued to program databases (like I was in my 20s) The one thing I'd change is I'd have signed up to sponsor in my 20s and visited my kids internationally when I had more free time and income.
  23. 6 feet has never been the "you are totally safe beyond this distance" level. It's been a reasonable compromise that minimizes chances. Not eliminates it.
  24. It appears "recovered" on the Texas website is just estimated as well.
  25. Write? Find someone else to bounce your ideas off of?
