  1. This is what I was thinking. I did nothing involving alcohol on my 21st birthday.
  2. My mother recommended using bra masks to wash the masks in -- will maybe help with the pilling I've been getting trying to wash and makes it easier to pluck out of the clothes after washing and before going into the dryer. (Where they shrink and dont fit as well)
  3. You are correct. We have a bearded dragon who needs UV and have to be careful of placement of the UV lamp so she gets what she nees. As you said -- even sunlight through a window is not adequate because of the window.
  4. And we are looking at buying a car. We were talking about it earlier this year and know we will need to very soon so decided this was the best time plus it supports a segment of the economy.
  5. I have three masks total. I am not going out everyday -- but I may well end up reusing masks before they can air out if I start going into work. They don't wash well in the washer at all so I've been trying to minimize that.
  6. I don't know. My husband is essential personnel (And salary so he isn't getting paid extra for this work. He thinks he might get some sort of bonus for Memorial Day because they asked for volunteers -- but he would have volunteered anyway because they needed help and he's available because I can stay home and watch kids) in Texas who works M-F and normally gets memorial day off. he worked today (They've added in extra weekend hours for the team) and is working tomorrow to for the entering coronavirus testing data part of his job. (And they had almost a full day today because of all the work to do). So they are actually trying to keep up despite the holiday.
  7. I’m in Texas too and it appears our governor is watching the numbers; at least he references them in his public speeches and this last time delayed some openings 8n a couple of particular areas that were having problems.
  8. I find the way "Karen" is being used is just another form of "name calling" I don't know what it started and what purpose it served, but now it's just another name that is used to bully a person into changing their mind/stop talking about <whatever> and has lost all usefulness.
  9. I'm in TX too (austin area). I'm seeing a lot masked when I'm out -- but there are a LOT of places I'm not out at at all and I see the posts in our local community about refusing to go to any store that requires masking, etc. And the news stories about stores that opened even before "allowed" -- so I'm worried at how close it all seems to anarchy. I even had to convince my own mother to wear a mask when she did go out -- she's not really that concerned. Is staying inside/masking as much as she is to make me happy (I'm the one in our family the most concerned) -- But even they have made changes (went to houston to get treatment for their dog with heartworms but didn't get out of the car in Houston except to hand dog off to vet and was circumspect about stopping otherwise. etc) And my boss is starting to put some encouragement on me to come work in the office again. I was there Friday though and everyone at the meeting was masked (and we could hear each other just fine). And putting on masks when going to visit, though they kind of laughed the first time I went in with my homemade mask. (They provided bandanas as the state required mask.)
  10. Jealous. My kids love both of these books and listen to them over and over, then pretend they are Zero G and Nyx
  11. Direct loss of life. Our friends in Honduras are feeding more people than they ever have before. And are being told by those they normally get food from that their next shipment of food is at least 1 year away (and could slide with the way the economy is and how MANY people need food right now). They have maybe 2 months of food left at the rate they are distributing it.
  12. *raised eyebrow* In other words you are going to pay based on their perceived economic needs, not their skills?
  13. WHY was she working symptomatic!
  14. This amount of people -- does not look fun. I feel an excess with my 1500 sq ft house looking at this.
  15. Whereas we had one with a higher weight limit that lasted to 14 or 15 months. (and could have gone longer but we chose to move to a convertible at that point because the infant seat was being left in the car anyway)
  16. The Dragon Planet by Dan Wells (Sequel to Zero G)
  17. My friend's daughter is very excited that they are about to start softball up.
  18. The note about de-duplicating data from private labs has been there everytime I've checked. I have been thinking it means -- sometimes two tests are given to the same person to verify results. For public labs those are only counted in the count once. But they can't be sure private labs are only counting them once.
  19. Interestingly, in the press conference yesterday Governor Abbott got this question and clearly said Texas is reporting antibody tests and the coronavirus tests separately.
  20. The way daycares in Texas are being run -- the daycare "room" becomes a family. Always the same children/one teacher but they don't social distance from each other. they just don't interact with the other children at the center, etc.
  21. Our schools did return textbooks and musical instruments already in a social distancing manner. there are no lockers to clean out. Teachers bagged up the student's items in their desk/left behind in athletics and had them available when we went to return textbooks/library books to pick up.
  22. I was kind of thinking coronavirus may become our bubonic plague. That disease had horrific consequences and took hundreds of years to be (mostly) eradicated. Some people would flee their homes for us. Others -- learned to live with the possibility of getting sick because they could not afford to flee.
  23. Our elementary school would have liked to open to do Field Day. And let kids see each other, say good bye to teachers. And show off the new library. Maybe they would have spent the day doing fun stuff. But they would still have liked to open.
  24. I have two children in those forests I write to. We'd so hoped they'd escaped and be free 😞
