  1. This is exactly why there were never limits placed on the number at the Catholic school J attended. The students were SO happy to help their friends once their basket was filled and to share once everyone sat down. My family is coming in from out of town that day anyways-J doesn't get to see his MeMaw often, so he will be having *loads* of fun anyways. ;) Also running for the eggs has taught J to be more outgoing as he *loves* the thrill of egg hunting. Some of his first egg hunts ended up with older children taking him, showing him how to do "the egg run"-he loved it!
  2. J has a lot of processing disorders and even following three step directions are still hard for him. For example, J go to the kitchen, get a glass and fill it with juice. He will go to the kitchen and just stand there, lost :( Between auditory and visual and all over processing skills being delayed, it is just not something I want him to struggle with. I too like the idea of candy in the eggs, but understand since we have BTDT with food allergies. Hard candy was always something do-able for us though, thankfully!
  3. Anyone else do this or have heard of this? We have done egg hunts with *large* groups but never until this year have I ever heard of limiting the number of eggs a child can find. Last year at Catholic school there was even a prize for the child whom found the most! Every child had no less than 20 eggs-and the kiddos all had a BLAST! If one child filled up their basket, they would help their friends fill up theirs. I have never heard of this before and we will not be attending our homeschool groups egg hunt because of this. J has way too many special needs to understand this right now.
  4. We do not associate with DH's family because of this. Like we *want* something to be wrong with J  Yeah, I really want my child to go thru everything he does every day and know there is not a cure for his GI problems. :grouphug:
  5. Yes, every weekend as DH works and this allows us to have a 6 day week. Saturdays are test days and Sundays introduces new Spelling words, Math lessons and new concepts in Grammar.
  6. :iagree:I did the "no-poo" thing for a while but I still used soap and Dove or St Ives for the rest of my body.
  7. My Mom is Me-Maw, J came up with that himself. He was calling my Mom "gandma" but seriously over night she become "Me-Maw" My MIL is Grammy My neice calls my Mom Nanna *My* Grandmother is Granny
  8. :iagree: Yep, can't imagine getting into bed with DH and not showering
  9. Yep, we have used it and would use it again if we needed to.
  10. Tops and tails are the most important thing to me-that is the part that seriously makes me gag if you do not do it daily. I honestly just can't imagine anyone being clean after a day of housework and taking care of children. Then again, I may be extra messy :tongue_smilie: And I do feel dirty if I do not shower daily. We have a Lab whom thinks he is a lap dog, all 80lbs of him, do I need to say more, lol.
  11. :iagree: I need a puking smiley to show how I feel about *not* showering daily. Even when I don't excercise (like today-my three to five miles walking/running daily this week has gotten to me) I still want to be clean. It seriously makes me want to gag when I hear of people not showering or bathing daily. Now if you are physically sick and can't shower, that is a different story. For the typical person however, showering or bathing daily is a must IMHO.
  12. Many things have changed in the past 12 months but we will always take vacations and never allow J to feel the economic crunch. DH and I cut corners wherever we can to allow J to have the life we want for him. DH grew up without a lot, my childhood was just the opposite. DH doesn't want J to go thru what he went thru, so we do without a lot so J can have.
  13. Other? I have planned on what I want, but buy whenever I find a good deal or J is finished with a curricula.
  14. J has a very difficult time with the visual/spatial thing-this is part of his visual processing disorder. We do a lot of puzzles, of all kinds with J and this has helped a lot. I am pretty certain the website is COVD.org to learn more about a visual processing disorder.
  15. We debated for quite a while on getting J a DS instead we bought him an I-Touch as he will be able to use this MUCH longer and for so much more than a DS.
  16. It also gives you an idea of how fast or slow your GI system moves.
  17. J was in private school for 2yrs before coming home-we much prefer him home for many, many reasons.
  18. J struggles with memorizing his facts as well, he is younger than your daughter but what we have decided to allow is the use of his manipulatives whenever he needs then. Give him his blocks and a math problem, he has it done in a matter of seconds. Ask him to *tell* you the answer, forget it.
  19. This was my FB status yesterday-I loved it! :)
  20. We are thinking that J has Dysgraphia and Dyscaculia as well in addition to his other processing disorders. No signs of Dyslexia thankfully however. MUS is working for us, as long as J is *really* focused and is allowed to use his manipulatives.
  21. This sounds like my J whom is *not* dyslexic but has *many* processing disorders including visual and auditory. An eval from an OT is where *I* would start.
  22. I wish this was possible for our home, we have only one bathroom. OP-I have tried the opening of the window and closing the door...it works when it is nice outside but I am not throwing my $ out the window when the heat or AC is on. I will be keeping :bigear: on your thread, we have this same problem here.
