  1. I hardly ever drink but it's never been a big deal. I've "explained" if I felt it was necessary with one of the following usually: "I have no tolerance since my last two kids", "it gives me a headache", "it's bad with my allergy meds", "I have to work in the morning", "I'm driving"
  2. Good Morning, Happy Monday. My break week last week was super busy since we made huge changes at work. Moved walls and reorganized massive amounts of stuff. But it is pretty much all done except for cleaning and fixing up what's left in our storage room so we can empty the off-site storage unit. Older dd and her boyfriend came for dinner last night. Dh made seafood mac & cheese which was yummy. It was nice. Dd's boyfriend is very like dh. They like the same team, have similar interests in music, and he likes to read the same type of books I do so I loaned him some books. He and dd are cute together. Now a week of classes before I'm off again for Thanksgiving week. That week we're hoping to empty the off-site storage unit. We aren't doing big dinner on Thanksgiving due to various things so I'll have the whole week. Our Thanksgiving dinner is going to be that Sunday.
  3. I made phone calls today. My doctor is retiring so I cancelled the appointment I had with her the Monday of Thanksgiving since I want someone who will be able to follow up with issues I think I'm having. I'm returning to an office I used to go to and dh goes to. I don't like the male doctor there but they have a couple female nurse practitioners know that I've heard good things about. So I made an appointment there for January. I was on the phone for 30 minutes making an appointment for my mammogram, breast ultrasound (I always get both) and bone scan. Mammo/US I go Friday, bone scan is Monday of Thanksgiving. I feel like an accomplished adult.
  4. Morning, Happy Tuesday. I got a ton of stuff done yesterday. Took apart 8 shelf units from my storage room and put them back together downstairs to be used in classrooms. Now I need to move all the small stuff that is going to be stored on those shelves downstairs. And pick up a few things from the storge unit that need to be used now. My car is in the shop currently. It was smoking and smelled like something burning. Last time that happened it was some kind of leak (not dangerous, just smelly). Dh had a doctor's appointment this morning so he took the car to work until his appointment and let me sleep in a little bit. When his appointment is done he'll come home, I'll drive him to work so I have the car to drive ds to school. Then I'll do some work while ds is at school until it's time to pick dh up from work, then I think dh is picking ds up from school. Fun times. Next semester ds is going to be on campus three days a week so we'll have to do the car sharing even more.
  5. I had: Newborn/Toddler/Teen (0/2/13) Toddler/Preschooler/Teen (2/4/15) Preschool/School Age/Teen (4/6/17) School/School/College Teen (6/8/19) School/Tween/Adult (8/10/21) Tween/Teen/Adult (11/13/24) Teen/Teen/Adult (13/15/26 through 16/18/29 now)
  6. Morning, Happy Saturday. Dh and I got a jump start on the long list of to-dos for this week. We went and emptied the 40 gallon turtle tank so we could move it, then refilled it. We moved my 14 foot long by 8 foot high folding wall into a different room (not heavy but awkward and has to be partially laid down to fit through a doorway). This afternoon we go to the 4H Awards Ceremony. I'm a presenter since I'm on the Board.
  7. Morning Happy Friday! Session 1 is done! Now I have a week to get a ton of stuff done before Session 2 begins. But we only have class for a week before we are off for Thanksgiving. So lots of time to finish up things if I don't get it all done this week.
  8. Yikes, I did not know that. I also don't drink mine really hot. I usually add a few ice cubes to my tea so it cools down enough to drink comfortably.
  9. Dh and I met at a work bowling league and often went to dinner at Olive Garden, Chili's or California Pizza Kitchen after bowling. Our first official date was at a nicer restaurant though. Most of my first dates (I've had a few) were probably dinner at Olive Garden/Applebee's level places and a movie. What are the Big 7 sports? I could only come up with five. Are Lacrosse and/or Cricket BIG enough? I guess maybe Rugby? Polo? Gymnastics? 1. Baseball 2. Basketball 3. Football (American) 4. Soccer/Football (not American) 5. Hockey
  10. I'm not sure why the temperature of the drinks would be a problem. I'd worry about caffeine or sugar or something but not temperature. I drink two 24 ounce cups of tea in the morning. I make a very strongly brewed pot of tea using one black teabag and one green teabag for my 2 cups. In the winter, I may have another cup of either hot cocoa or tea in the evening or during the day. I now have a Keurig at work and I bought some good hot cocoa flavors so it may go up once the air is cold enough to counteract my menopausal running warm. I drink about three 24 ounce bottles of water/cold drinks a day. I mix in an Emergen-C Immune for my first 24 ounces at work, then when I drink that down half-way or so, I add more water. Water with dinner, water until bedtime.
  11. I run a science center for homeschoolers that I've been doing since before Covid (2017). There are definitely some differences now from before Covid, but since I'm a secular science center I've never had mostly religious students, unless it was religions other than Christian. I do have quite a few students of other religions, but the vast majority of my students seems to have left school due to bullying or special needs not being met. We have a few with high medical needs, Tourette's, ASD, ADHD, and similar. We're small enough that younger kids with special needs can have older siblings close by if needed for comfort or to help with anything that comes up. We're a drop off program but have a lobby where parents can stay if they want. Between all my teachers we have a ton of experience with neurodiversity, with one of my teachers having years of experience in a ASD school, one has a lot of experience with their own kids, one of my younger teachers is ASD herself. We like being the place where the ND kids can feel comfortable and successful. That was something that was very hard to find for my own (ASD, ADHD, anxiety) kids. We also have quite a few LGBTQ+ kids attending.
  12. We ended up telling my son to just take something and say thank you, and we'd eat the things he didn't like and buy him whatever he wanted from the store. He only eats plain Hershey Bars, Hershey Kisses, and plain mini M&M's so except for the Hershey bars it was very unusual for them to have something he'd eat.
  13. The same thing was bothering me. That and figuring out where to put the intercept on an unnumbered line. I've recently been in MUS Algebra 1 hell. It's endless graphing for something like 10 lessons. Over and over and over again, just graphing.
  14. I'm actually having a fairly productive weekend. Friday I did some laundry, cleaned up some old piles of stuff in the living room which involved fixing one of dd's stuffies (new eyes on a cinnasnail), made a thingie to hold my fit watch on my ankle when I use the sit down stepper (need to get back to that), moved stuff around on shelves behind the couch so we can actually reach the things we need access to often (we store supplies back there). Saturday I went to work and fixed some models the kids made, cleaned out my cockroaches tank, then went through registrations, released spaces for people who aren't returning (or at least haven't told me they are, they had three weeks. If that's incorrect hopefully they'll let me know before someone else grabs their space.), and did payroll. Just one more week of classes before I'm off for a week. Lots and lots to do that week but basically on my own schedule that is not tied to anyone else.
  15. Morning Happy Sunday. It's Laundry Day! Whooopie!!! ETA: Yikes, an excited about laundry booya.
  16. All the "good guys" with guns in Uvalde certainly didn't help.
  17. Good Morning, Happy Friday. Fridays start my weekend so I slept in a bit and I'm just now finishing my first cup of tea and breakfast (it's 10:42am here). Today will be laundry and some other straightening around the house. Tonight dh and I are going out to dinner for our anniversary that was yesterday. We both forgot and we both got each other the same thing. 😁 Luckily neither of us cares that much about occasion presents. I trimmed my hair into layers but I think it may be too short. I can't tell because after sleeping on it, everything is sticking out every which way. I'm going to probably have to rewash it to be able to see what's really going on there. I'm sure I can do something with it even if it's not what I was hoping for. It's just a matter of how much work it is.
  18. Below are the NJ requirements but we also have a very good Vo-Tech program that includes full day options for all four years of high school, shared-time options for Juniors and Seniors, and a lot of options in between. I'm wondering how the votech fits in with all this since that's a lot to take if you are also taking VoTech classes. 4 years of English Language Arts 3 years of math: Algebra 1 or content equivalent, Geometry or content equivalent, a third year of math that builds on Algebra and Geometry 3 years of science: Lab Biology/Life Science or equivalent, two other Lab/Inquiry based science courses 3 years of social studies: World History, two other history/civics/economics/geography/global courses 1/2 year Financial/Economic/Business/Entrepreneurial Business Literacy course 4 years of Health, Safety and/or PE every year (usually 1/4 heath/safety and 3/4 PE each year) 1 year Visual/Performing Arts course 1 year World Languages course Technology integrated through all courses 1 year 21st Century Life and Careers course
  19. That looks pretty good to me. Maybe he was looking for more about the phospholipid bilayer and the rest of the structure of the plasma membrane? To me she used the big key words, which are semi-permeable - although he may want more about osmosis/diffusion, passive vs active transport there? - and homeostasis. My degree is Biology and I teach classes to homeschoolers but I don't do tests.
  20. I want potato soup. Next week is my last week of the current session of classes then we are off for a week. Then we work for one week and are off for another week for Thanksgiving. This next session takes forever due to all the holidays but it's an easy one from a teaching perspective. We're making really big changes to the set up at work over the week off. It should make things work better for the teachers with better storage set-up, better classroom set-ups. It will cut down our lobby/waiting area but that was a lot of wasted space most of the time anyway.
  21. Morning, Happy Wednesday. Things finally seem back to normal around here, which is a relief.
  22. Yes, sort of. Dh generally gets up way before I do and leaves for work before I'm awake, but he'll fill my tea kettle with water and tea bags (I use one black tea and one green tea) and all the honey, etc will be out on the counter ready to go. I just have to stumble into the kitchen and turn it on. Then I usually go to the bathroom and by the time I come out, its boiling. He'll also occasionally make me an omelette or something for breakfast and leave it wrapped for me to heat up when I get up.
  23. Morning. It's Monday again. I ended up pulling a muscle in my back. Again. Dh asked if I should go to the doctor but I know what they are going to say - lose weight and exercise more. I know that. We had to pick up our kayaks and canoe from the lake since they are redoing the boat racks. The kayaks weren't too bad but the canoe is a big long heavy one and we had to lift it on top of the car. I could feel it pulling when we did it but managed to get it home and off the car with no injury. Went to the Trunk or Treat, leaning over, moving around, no problems. Last night, loading the dishwasher and POP. Slept like crap since every time I moved I woke up fully from it hurting and I move around a lot usually. Sitting with a hot pad and took some advil but have to leave for work soon. It's going to be a fun day.
  24. Trick or Treat was fun but not very busy today. Most of the visitors were 4H'ers, but it's the first time we've done one and it had to be rescheduled from yesterday due to weather. We had three activities at our car/tables. Fish eyeballs "orbeeze" to reach in and grab a prize out of, magic potions where powder is added to colored water (magic snow/sodium polyacrylate) and a game where you throw a small squishy brain to feed a zombie (pictures on a box).
