  1. I had a poor night's sleep, interrupted by a sick and upset teenager :( I'm not sure what I'll do today, other than working in the garden/yard. A walk might be a good idea :)
  2. No, honestly, that's the correct product! I learned about here  Diimethyl whateveritis is the active ingredient in all the fancy makeup primers. Read the comments :) If I don't use primer, my face looks like crud. With it, even in the dead of winter, my skin looks smooth and even.
  3. My skin has gotten much drier over the past few years (I'm 48). I use Bare Minerals but with a good primer first. I don't use an expensive primer, just something that is the main ingredient of all those expensive brand name primers. I use this product (might be lower-priced sellers) http://www.amazon.com/Monistat-Soothing-Chafing-Powder-Gel-1-5-Ounce/dp/B001E96MG2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1428713169&sr=8-3&keywords=Monistat+soothing+care+powder
  4. We give gift cards ($10-20) or cash ($20-50, depending on how well and long we have known the student). If I know where the student will be going to college, I try to find a gift card to someplace near the campus (Panera, Chipotle, Starbucks, Target, Barnes & Noble if they run the bookstore)---of course, you need to know the student well to know if she drinks coffee or eats burritos. Gas cards are always good, as are drugstore (RiteAid, Walgreens) cards. Flash drives are a great idea! *tucks that thought away*
  5. Up early for gym. Yuck. Ahead: --said gym --APHG group meeting this morning --other school w dd: math, chem (she does English and Arabic on her own) --daily things --Friday things --errands: a few grocery items, printer paper --work on garden/yard --paperwork left from yesterday Ciao!
  6. Crankily (nice word, huh?) going to the gym w Dh in 15 minutes. Bah! Not sure what I'll do.
  7. Thanks for posting about it--never heard of the program before. What a great opportunity!
  8. Transcripts are only for grades and, if you wish to include them, standardized test scores. Everything else goes on the application. Sometimes kids need a resume-type document for in-person interviews. My older kids were told to keep a running document (Extracurriculars, awards, internships, jobs, volunteering, leadership) that could be turned into a resume whenever they might need one.
  9. Hugs for everyone! Done so far: --daily things --worked out with trainer --history and APHG with dd Still to do: --math and chem with dd --stretch shoulder three more times --prep for APHG discussion group tomorrow --some paperwork --check plant sale catalogs online (fundraisers for local nature society and local botanic garden); write wish list :) --get dd from ballet at 7 (Dh usually drives her both ways on Thursdays but he has a meeting after Chinese class) --read :D
  10. Nice workout with the trainer this morning :) I squatted holding 20 lb dumbbells :D That's almost to the limit of what my small hands will hold, but I'm not able to squat with a bar because of my shoulder. I did 30 min on the elliptical after my session. It was too cold and wet to walk to/from the gym.
  11. Are ice crystals still present in the meat?
  12. The doctor suspects the pain and nausea are due to ovulation. Poor dd :( I guess we'll see (1) in a day or so and (2) in four weeks! No exercise for me, other than my usual walking and stair-climbing. I stress-ate some chocolate. Trainer tomorrow!
  13. Dd has seen 7:24:25 so many times this year in AoPS precalc and in prepping for the SAT Math 2 subject test.
  14. Nationwide, in the middle of the east coast megalopolis. 2 cars (2001, 2003), four drivers (college kids are too close to drop them off the insurance) About $300/month
  15. Sorry I got you sick, soror. ;) I was all set to go to the gym early this morning, but then dh convinced me that we should stay in the warm bed instead ;) I hope to get a workout in later today. I have to run dd to the doctor to get some abdominal pain checked out. Kinda concerned.
  16. A bit worried about dd today---she has been experiencing a reflux flare (breakthrough heartburn, nausea, loss of appetite) for the past 10 days, or so I thought. The pain is not where it should be but is instead in her lower right abdomen. She has a doctor appointment in three hours. So until then, I'm doing my regular things while she works on her outsourced class work. We'll fit in the chemistry, math, history, and APA Human Geo wherever possible. :(
  17. Well, that's not cool. In the public and charter schools here, there are three levels of Integrated Math. The highest level is basically AoPS-type problems! (My nephew is in this class. He's the same age as dd.)
  18. Math 3 could also be Integrated Math 3. Integrated Math covers topics in algebra, geometry, statistics, and some other topics (bits of number theory, counting, probability), with the complexity of the topics increasing each year. Here, the schools have IM 1-3 followed by precalculus.
  19. 40 min elliptical, rolling/stretching shoulder
  20. Dd and I did schoolwork in the warm sunshine yesterday :) Today is rainy, alas. Up ahead: --gym in a few w Dh --school w dd: chem, math, history, APHG --daily things --Tuesday-specific tasks --errands: local garden supply store, Target for foam roller, earbuds, printer paper --things I didn't do yesterday: order ds's cap and gown, register dd for SAT subject test --final decision on seeds not yet purchased --read :D
