  1. Logistics out of nashville? My brother works for amazon in logistics.
  2. I was pretty much there last summer when I joined a CrossFit gym. They used ab mats, and that helped a lot.
  3. i voted k, but all the kids in my ds1's class read it in 2nd grade reading groups.
  4. My mom took my 6 year-old to a local toy store and he picked out the same magnetic dart board posted above, he played with it for quite some time. She also got him a fun remote control car called Turbo Twister, it is hard to explain but a little different than a regular remote control car. They had one out to play with and a couple people bought one after seeing my son play with it. Otherwise what about a soccer rebounder or a knee hockey goal/stick set?
  5. Hockey: wax, tape, laces, tape tool, puck (I have been considering comet puck but don't want to pay 20*2) Hex wrench or bike multitool, energy stuff from stinger or Skratch labs. Grooming stuff, small gift cards for starbucks, donuts, ice cream, small flash light, finger lights, gum
  6. Yes, I bought dh some things during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and I have a good idea on the rest of the stuff. I am trying to figure out what I want to get everyone else.
  7. Did you carry anything for part of the walk? I don't think it registers steps if your arms aren't moving, I could be wrong tho. I have noticed when I am shopping, I don't get any additional steps when pushing the shopping cart.
  8. There are about 40 double sided pages. Some pages are blank, but most have at least one question (sometimes several questions). Some of the pages have places to put a picture or draw something. Some of the questions are like what is the hardest class you have at school, how do you feel when you play sports...or for the mom to answer like for the mom to list cool things about her son or things that make her happy (theses aren't exactly how the questions are phrased, I am just going by memory).
  9. Hi, I received the journals promptly. I had ordered 2 of the boy ones and a smaller one to give a niece as part of a Christmas gift. They are pretty much exactly as shown in the pictures, but I didn't really notice that they were cardstock (not even a very thick cardstock) and then the inside seems to be regular paper. I probably wouldn't have ordered if I had noticed this, because I don't think they will be very durable. It is nice that it opens up all the way and you can take papers out, etc. I might have still ordered the ones for my boys, but I wouldn't have bought the one that was a gift (it was quite small). In fairness to the product I don't plan on using it until after the holidays.
  10. I haven't seen anything like that before, but I did order 2 of them yesterday. I can post after I receive them. Thanks for posting.
  11. In the past when I have placed orders with Magazine.com, I have placed the order and then gone to manage my subscriptions and changed it to manual renewal. It was really easy to do, and I have never had a problem with them.
  12. My son is in K and goes to a school exactly like this (add in classroom pets, reading loft, field trips, weekly baking, 2 30 minute recesses, reading with teacher at child's level, etc) and was offered a spot at one of the Greater Hearts school for K (a week into school). We turned down the spot. While I love that they use Singapore Math and I like how the curriculum is laid out, there were other things I didn't like. When I toured the school, I didn't hear kids laughing/having fun until we toured the older grades (and they seemed excited about what they were learning). I welcome strong academics for my kids, but I think recess is also important. The playground of the Archway I toured was tiny, with no space to really run around or play soccer. The recess also seemed rather short. Also during the tour, they told us that this school is not a good fit for kids who do a lot of activities after school (guessing because of the homework). I do know people who send their kids there for middle school and have really love the school. We are happy with the charter school my older son attends, but plan on touring BASIS now that they are offering K-4.

  14. I haven't read them myself, but I noticed on amazon the other day that there are leveled reader lego comic books.
  15. We know a sweet little girl who is very shy who loves figure skating and cheerleading.
  16. We have an adult family friend who recently broke his clavicle and had surgery. He had surgery on Friday and was more or less back to his routine (kids/driving) by Monday. He said it felt a lot better (was happier) after the surgery.
  17. Bumping...hope to get some suggestions! Thanks!
  18. Hi, I recently purchased the miniluk starter pack for my boys (7 and almost 5). Since they both liked it I bought the Critical Thinking (Brain Jogging) ones for my younger son and the Advanced Higher Level Thinking ones for my older son. Any favorites for this age group? Thanks!
  19. Will you use all of the pieces in the place setting? If not then maybe buy the pieces you will use more (i.e. the plates) separately?
  20. Does anyone know anything about this program? I am considering sending my kids to a school that uses this math program, but it seems to be pretty new? They wouldn't start school until 1st grade, so I would want to buy the K materials but I am not certain what is needed? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  21. I had OS as a kid (5th grade). I didn't read the other thread, but my symptoms were similiar to what pp mentioned. I have a bump under both knees. You mentioned kneeling, I was unable to do stuff like that because it was too painful. Even touching the area could cause jolting pain. I would see a dr especially if it is affecting her activities.
  22. What time is the party at? If during a mealtime I would probably do something like cheese lasagna or baked ziti (or both and not do the mac and cheese), with your rolls.
  23. Is she able to tell you what letter a word starts with? DS1 did the primers (each just covers different letters), when he knew his letters and sounds...but it taught him to figure out what letters a word starts with.
  24. I would probably stick with it at least with your ds2, especially since you indicated that ds1 was setting off ds2. I should add though, I am a big believer in swim lessons. We started both boys at 1.5 in a parent/toddler class and then moved them up to semi private lessons at 2.5 (well ds2 is 2.25). My ds2 can swim/rollover/swim across a pool or just float on his back and kick across the pool. I love watching him during the lessons, because he has the cutest smile/look of pride on his face during the ENTIRE lesson! DS1 was doing freestyle (with side breathing) and backstroke at 3.5 and at 4.5 is pretty close to getting his butterfly stroke down. We usually do swim lessons year round, once a week for 30 minutes and play in the pool when we can.
