  1. OK I wasnt going to put this one because I didnt want to sound like a total nerd, but I love (my kids do alot with it) www.dictionary.com
  2. Mystery Of History I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I personally do not like Saxon, I do love spiral approach curricula though. I would recommend both Horizons and Singapore. (I actully do them together) Singapore is great for teaching concrete, and excellent for mental math. Horizons is a GREAT spiral curriculum (but you NEED the teachers manuals) Other great math programs for you to check out would be Math U See, Mammoth Math, Key To series, Life Of Fred (I will be starting Life of Fred with my oldest daughter this summer, fractions, and decimals & percents)
  4. WOW they had all my information pegged to a T (other than it said I had no kids :001_unsure:) That is REALLLLY scary! Thank you sooo much! I also didnt realize how many me's there were :glare:
  5. Blokus and blokus trigon! http://www.blokus.com/ you can play online at that website. The actual game is a BLAST! I have never played the online version Clue is also a hit here... how am I the murderer more than not? :glare: Im starting to get a complex:confused:
  6. So many have been suggesting workboxes!! I am going to start doing that! I am excited! Thanks for that suggestion!!!!!!
  7. I love free, but if its a great, cant live without site I would pay too!!
  8. I do SOTW for elementary (1-4) then MOH for middle (5-8) I love them both!!!!! They both have the same amount of book hunting (do as much or as little as you choose) I find the G. Foster books are great as a supplement (doesnt have EVERYTHING but when you get the compatible time frames) Timelines work well with both also!
  9. I really like www.coolmath.com http://www.answersingenesis.org/kids A friend showed me www.starfall.com so I cant take the credit for that but I am really going to like that for my boys I can tell already http://www.kidsites.com/
  10. The teachers guide is not needed at that level if you are comfortable. I use BJU math with my oldest and I just got my first teachers edition this year (6th grade) I would recommend the workbooks, both the spring into action and the stretch your mind. The stretch your mind says its for advanced students, my daughter is good in math, though I certainly would not call her advanced and I found it to be very beneficial for her to do those! You do not need tests. I use the chapter reviews at the end of each chapter. It also has a 10 question cumulative review. I just figure that if she didnt know something and needed review that would show me. The tests are very similar. If you have anyother questions please let me know! For my oldest I have found nothing better than BJU math!!!! :)
  11. What are the signs and syptoms of this? I have read everything I can find on the subject, but I want first hand from parents with ADHD kids. Does this run in families? My husband had this as a child (an still does:glare:) I am wondering about 1 of my kids in particular
  12. :grouphug:How on earth could your ex even think about saying that???
  13. Thanks! That is great advice! Thank you !!!
  14. Get the book a Chickens guide to talking turkey with your kids about sex. ITs by Kathy Flores Bell. It teaches parents how to have "kitchen table" talks with your kids in a non intimidation/gross them out sort of way. My daughter will be 12 April 1 and THANK YOU LORD she hasnt started yet. I have memorized that book! Its awesome! Im going to PM you now.... sorry lol
  15. Isnt it scary what really goes on in a public school? The language, the actions, the clothes (or lack thereof :glare:) The music ELEMENTARY aged kids listen to. Scares me!
  16. Do we live in the same town? I am the same way and they always laugh when I do that! One day I checked to be sure the DVD was in it and though HA Now I have it all! Well, there was a DVD in it alright but they informed me it was the wrong one :blushing:
  17. Just out of curiosity. Have you always homeschooled? Did you start out in public schools? Im just wondering. I know so many people have sooooo many different reasons.
  18. I second the horizons and singapore (we use both!) My daughter does GREAT with her math facts. Singapore teaches math concrete level and horizons is spiral for retention!
  19. The publisher is always going to be higher. We also are on a tight budget, so the problem of finding other goodies at rainbow isnt huge with me. I do find them, they go on my wish list. The other suggestions you were given are everything I would have suggested. Also there is www.vegsource.com (there is a homeschool swap board on there somewhere) and also www.homeschoolbooksforless.com
