  1. Here is a pretty good recipe video: http://showmethecurry.com/breads/naan.html Meli
  2. Isn't that one of those rules your supposed to follow don't eat while sitting at the computer?????? Guess it can be an advantage sometimes, escpecially when you are a frazzled homeschooling mama! I have 3 extra here today on top of my four needless to say I'm ready for bed time! Meli
  3. So I don't post very often but I read everyday:blushing:. I thought someone here would appreciate my story. I'm back on weight watchers today and I made myself a turkey sandwich for lunch nothing special really but it was really hitting the spot. Anyway I sat down for lunch at the and to check the hive. All of the sudden I looked down and my sandwich was gone. I was so hungry and feeling like this was going to be a very long hungry day! I really felt like I had only eaten half of the sandwich. I was really bummed! I just walked into the kitchen and there was the rest of my sandwich sitting on the counter! I really had only eaten half but was so distracted by the board that I couldn't tell the difference. Yikes! Meli
  4. I use very little sweetener. I chop up dates in my food processer and that is our sweet(ness?) I use no flour. I also use butter instead of oil, but his can be expensive because I try to get really good quality butter. Meli
  5. My favorite lately is two or three pieces of bacon and a bowl full of fresh berries and cream.....:drool5::drool5: I know officially the berries are carbs but they are good carbs (right???), anyway they don't bother me like a bowl of cereal would. Meli
  6. I missed lots of practical info growing up! I'm sure my kids are missing some....:tongue_smilie: But I was shocked when a couple years into our marriage I found out my husband didn't know why it's bad to put a plastic bag over your head????!!!!:001_huh::001_huh: We still joke about it to this day. Meli
  7. We took our kids(6,5,3,2) last year the first time, hubby and I were not big campers as kids. So......We loved it, but it was hard. A ton of stuff to take for all those kids.:001_smile: If your going put in all the work for just one night I say stay two or three. I think that with just one night it would be too much work for such a short time. My suggestion is if you are tent camping you MUST!!!!! bring an air mattress! At least for the both of you. I did not sleep well (boy the ground is hard!) and it made for a very long weekend. But other than that we loved it and the kids loved it! Happy camping, Meli
  8. I think that one week is too long. My kids would lose focus in a week. How bout a day? That should really be enough time. Meli
  9. We have four kids, three of them were potty trained at about three. The last one about 2 1/2. The first two I started at 18mo and it was a nightmare! I was just not consistent enough, and they were really stubborn. But that is just me. If someone else was going to chase them around all day waiting, I'd say go for it. But I would not start before about 2 1/2 unless they trained themselves. Best wishes, Meli
  10. My husband and I are going on a 10 day vacation to celebrate our 10yr anniversary. We are going to Kauai for most of it. We are looking for a study that we can do together. Here are a couple of parameters.......er...., uh......, helpful hints....... (only a couple:tongue_smilie:) -He likes John Piper. -I like Beth Moore. -Neither one of us liked the book Love and Respect. -We would like that it wasn't a long study, something that we can mostly complete on our trip(10 days). -It doesn't have to be a study but we would like something that gives us some direction for our quiet times. -Neither one of us like a lot of fluff, we both want a tell it like it is kind of study. -It doesn't have to be about marriage. Getting closer to Jesus always brings us closer together!!:001_wub: -We don't really want just a devotional, something a little more meaty. We don't mind spending at least an hour or two a day devoted to this. Any suggestions would help. Can't wait for this trip!!! We sooooo need it! Thanks in advance, Meli
  11. Go try at least one class. I don't' think I'd be as motivated to keep it up on my own. Part of the fun is all the ladies doing it together! You will love it! Meli
  12. YUM! This is how I make it. It's the best recipe and cooking technique that I have found. My kids beg for this stuff. http://www.vahrehvah.com/popvideo.php?recipe_id=309 Meli
  13. red leaf lettuce beets goat cheese pecans balsamic vinaigrette YUM! MEli
  14. One thing that helped me get past those first few HARD days, is don't make or have temping food in the house. Don't make stew with dumplings! You are setting yourself up for a fall the kids could have had stew without those things tonight. Doing what is best for your health is good for everybody, don't' use the kids as an excuse. Maybe the next time you make stew you will have more will power but be ruthless for a few days. I hope things get better! I soooo know how you feel and it is so hard! You can do it! Meli
  15. Take that money out of your underwear......no honey we don't pee on money, we pee in the toilet.:tongue_smilie: Meli
  16. She is just a family counselor but she does have some background in eating issues. She has helped me just get started on really managing the behavior because I was gaining weight, quickly! Now that I have dropped some weight and feeling a little better in the day to day we are really working on the issues causing my overeating. I didn't want to go on yet another diet only to gain all the weight back and then some. I want to change! I so do not want to pass this stuff on to my kids, so now it is time to deal with it. It's not easy and the habits run really deep. I am making progress and I feel sooooo much better. Most of all I am just more hopeful that I can change and live a more healthy life for me and my kids. So worth it! Meli
  17. I could have written your post! I have been working one on one with a counselor for the last few months it has been eye opening and very helpful. The problem is much more complex and deep than I would have imagined. Get help it's so worth it! Meli
  18. I would also feel terrible if I ate this many carbs. I need fat in the morning to get my day started right. Be it nuts, or honestly I even feel better eating two slices of bacon than I do eating anything sweet in the morning. I know bacon is not what most people consider health food but I really need that fat in the morning to get me going. I hope it gets better! I KNOW how hard it can be. Meli
  19. For me it's the sugar. If I eat too much sugar or eat any on an empty stomach I go CRAZY! I get mean. I hate that feeling. Dark chocolate is usually better for me because it's not sooo sweet. Meli
