  1. Hrmm, I guess I'm a little different than you. I would have asked him what he was doing and then shrugged it off when he put them back. Kids do stupid things all the time, I don't think it was a big deal.
  2. I would let her express herself with clothing and styles but would not allow her to dress provocatively.
  3. I work mostly from home but when I do have to be gone, I use a drop in daycare center. Do you have anything like that nearby?
  4. He is beautiful!! So is your dog. I would go get him anyway, he's so cute. :tongue_smilie: Edited to say, they do look very much alike!
  5. Weird I have a friend who's 14 year old homeschooler attended IVC. She said they were really good with her.
  6. What things do/did your kids mispronounce? I think its so cute when my kids mispronounce things, although I do correct them. One day they wont do it any more and I'll really miss it! We were in Office Depot by the school supplies yesterday and my 4 year old had been wondering around by the pencil sharpeners, suddenly he shouts across the store. "mum, I think we need a new sharpen penciler!". I said "you mean a pencil sharpener" he said "yeah, that's what I said, a sharpen penciler!". He also says "cajuzzi" for jacuzzi and "pasghetti" for spaghetti. :D
  7. My 4 year old told me that blankets cause global warming because they warm you globally.
  8. Yeah, they are adding fresh produce now. One of the ones near us (we have at least four!) is closed for a 5 day remodeling.
  9. Yeah, each to their own. My husband always says that its a good thing we don´t all parent the same way. :)
  10. I was just about to say this. I would go get another check up.
  11. If *I* create the account then *they* didn't create it. Then *they* aren't breaking the rules. Some of the same people who think that is wrong think its ok for parents to let kids use their accounts. Its the same kind of rule bending.
  12. I used to be fine going to the dentist and then one time I went and there was an earthquake right as the dentist was drilling in my mouth. I havent been back since. I know there isnt much chance of an earthquake happening again while i'm there, I just cant bring myself to go. I need more treatments so the plan is for the dentist to prescribe me Xanax the next time.
  13. Wow, your 10 year old really is a big lad! My 11 year old is big too, he is 5'2" and wears a size 10, my husband wears a size 11. My husband is 5'11" and I am 5'7". I have to buy size 14/15 clothes for my 11 year old!
  14. I'm middle of the road too, always have been even though some of my views have changed over time.
  15. Parents, police, teachers, the government, society...
  16. Do you think you should teach your children to follow the rules of authority regardless of what those rules might be or do you teach them to question authority? I ask because the Facebook thread got me thinking about it. It seems a lot of people say "those are the rules, so that's what we do". We are a family of non-conformists and critical thinkers. It's important to me that my kids are able to ask pertinent questions and decide for themselves what is right and wrong *before* they follow the rules. :bigear:
  17. There is no way to do it using their birthdate, but I can give my kid an account under my birth date, using their name, their pictures, their info and allow them use it, according to their rules. Its all them protecting themselves, they don't actually care who is behind the computer screen, they just don't want to get sued. It is against the law for *any* website to collect information about a minor, but yet any picture or piece of information pertaining to your children that you upload to the internet (blogs, photo albums etc....) is breaking this law. Its just too arbitrary to enforce. That is the only reason that rule is in place for FB. I didn't lie when I created that account for my son and nobody can convince me I did, I stand by that 100%.
  18. The 13 age limit is not there for any other reason than to protect them from lawsuits. Its not law. It is however, against the law for any internet entity to collect information for a child under 13 without parental consent and it says in Facebooks own terms of service: "In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible." It also says: "This Site is intended solely for users who are thirteen (13) years of age or older, and users of the Site under 18 who are currently in high school or college." Its not law, its just so that they may protect themselves, hence the Terms of Service being so full of loop holes. That's why I let my kids have them and don't see it as lying or teaching my kids to lie. If anything, I've taught them to read the fine print.
