  1. K12phonics. Works really well for my son.. It is a two year course, breaks down words and sound to produce fluency in reading, comprehension, writing, and spelling. Makes teaching to read very easy.
  2. I agree. kindy is a good time to start hsing because it's fun and doesn't take a lot of time. Trying over the break can give you a feel for it and see how they do. First grade takes only about an hour of formal work and another hour of reading. My son plays the rest of the day. He's rarely grumpy!
  3. Mixture. Some are ones that would be too much for me to read. I have bought only a couple. We get them from the library and librivox.
  4. Once upon a time, Star trek DS 9 I'm waiting for new episodes of sister wives and army wives.
  5. that's good she is in good shape otherwise. The pain meds might be just the thing.
  6. I agree with the cuisenaire rods. My son loves to use them. We're actually doing multiplication, Miquon preaents it so easily, it is just repeated addition. We do no more than 10 problems a day. I was worried about my son not knowing the math facts cold, but a good friend of mine told me to just move on. He was getting so frustrated with the repetition. They will learn them in time. I think it is better for them to really know why those math facts are so instead of rote memorization in the first few years.
  7. My 6yo is just lie that, I usually have only ten math problems and he takes forever. One time we did 15 in about two minutes. I don't know what got into him that day. I daily lose my temper and tell him he will have to go to public school. He just hates anything that is not play. I have to make his lessons short. When I start to lose him I really should quit. I just know he could do more if he would just sit still a little longer...not gonna happen tho. I guess I'll be doing it this way for more years! I asked dr if he was ADHD and she said he was NOT. Just very creative and very active... And very exhausting!
  8. I have been down this road and I can tell you that our story did not end well. We were giving our cat one more weekend tosee if the steroids would help her seizures. If they didn't we were going to put her to sleep on Monday. She didn't last that long. It got so bad, I won't go into it because it still breaks my heart, but dh had to put her down himself. All vets are closed at midnight and we knew there was no way we could get to the ERVet 45 min away. My vet would recommend a quick and peaceful end to her suffering. I would too. It is cruel to them and to the family to see her suffer. Your son will take it hard, so it may be a good idea to get another puppy right away. Hugs
  9. My son finished his K math in one semester. We went on to grade one. When we started with first grade after summer break he had forgotten most math facts so we spent the first couple of months reviewing that. Now we're doing multiplication. Nothing wrong with working at their level.
  10. I wouldn't mind crafts too much but my son wasn't interested. He would want me to do it all, and what is the point of that? So I let him do what he wants. He builds and draws, explores bugs and other creatures, and has a good time running around outside. He's happy and not stressed so I don't worry about the things others are doing. We rarely did crafts or xperiments when I was in school...
  11. I would try a GP. My OB/gym shut down her practice so I just go to my GP for everything. She has no qualms about running any tests. toy would peobably also get in faster. There are some lousy drs out there.
  12. She needs to watch her sugar intake. That A1C level is close to prediabetes, which is 5.7. Those fasting numbers are a bit high as well. Prediabetes is 100- 125, I believe. Since you see that protein brings it down I would have her not eat sugar, even natural sugar, at night. Change to peanut butter crackers, possibly, eliminating the fruit altogether. Or change to less sugary fruit such as berries.
  13. Oh how terrible. Our 25th Ann. Is today. I can't imagine finding out my dh had an affair. Hugs
  14. My first thought as well as the album all the seasons of George Winston. I would add Enya and Celtic Woman Nat King Cole
  15. Oh that is depressing! My sisters started skipping around age 47. Both went on anti anxiety meds so they were having issues with that. I'm 45, haven't started skipping yet but my cycle went from being 40 days to 30 days. I get irritability and depression much more now than I used to. I also feel very blah most of the time. I don't want to do housework or cooking. I'd rather just read...
  16. Prescription vit D of 50,000 units per week has helped my achiness. I missed my dose last week and I really felt it. I really need to adjust my diet but I feel overwhelmed doing it.
  17. Thanks! I couldn't find a reply button so I will just say that I would try to get my money back. I dont know enough to get a way around that problem, unless you could try to convert it through calibre. I don't know if it would let you do that. And yes I would be very aggravated.
  18. This. I haven't had any trouble with any PDFs. Very large files take a while to load up. I use iBooks, Dropbox, and PDF max. Haven't used goodreads. Just got google books app yesterday for Dictation day by day and it works wonderfully. I would keep trying to find an app that would help it work. What exactly is the problem?
  19. My sons favorites were Bunny my honey I love you, little one Pajama time by Sandra boy ton The cat in the hat
  20. Good grief, I couldn't live in those cold houses! Mine is on 72 right now, with gas heaters going and I'm still chilled. In winter I'm not warm until it's 74 and then I'm bundled up. In summer we keep it at 73 in here with the air. I'm freezing if my house is at 69. I live in Southern Louisiana. My house is not insulated well. I could feel the cold air last night coming through the walls. I hate winter...
  21. you can also just use it on the computer.
  22. My dh also works second shift. On his days off, and sometimes the morning of his work days, he works a second job. He also does all of the maintenance on our house and vehicles. He never gets up before nine unless he has to be somewhere early. You are not raising a bum. Don't worry about it!
  23. Age 3or4 Just so stories and Stuart Little Age 4and 5 Dr Dolittle, the wind in the willows Age 6 Little house in the big woods Age 2. Beatrix potter Tons of others of his choice that aren't considered classics.
