  1. Please ask him. I have to know now. :tongue_smilie:
  2. I look forward to your updates! I am inspired by your weight loss! Such a great accomplishment and I'm sure you feel terrific already. Keep on truckin'! :001_smile:
  3. Try Khan Academy . Scroll down to developmental math. I use this site a lot!
  4. What I got was "I'm pulling my kid out of school because getting her there is inconvenient." The more I think about it, the more I feel I should stay out of it. My kids haven't been in public school for 7 years. I wouldn't know where to begin with the legal side of it. Thanks for helping me think through it, ladies. :001_smile:
  5. You know I went there, but if mom is having her 10yo call me to get info, I'm thinking she's not going to be doing a lot of planning. I want to suggest something boxed or a complete curriculum online. This lady's reason for homeschooling is that she has a hard time getting her daughter to school on time. The girl has already missed all of the days she can miss for the year. Mom works 3 days a week 40 miles from here, so this kid will be home on her own to do school with an 8th grade sibling. The sibling does "virtual school". The little girl couldn't give me more info than that. I am at a loss here! I do not want to get too involved. I am not fond of this girl anyway. She bullies my dd9, but I don't want to just blow them off completely. The entire situation makes me uncomfortable. I figure I can send her an email with suggestions, and then I am done. :leaving:
  6. A neighborhood girl called me yesterday and said she was going to start homeschooling and her mother needed to know what to do. :001_huh: I don't know these people, but I would like to offer them something in the way of advice. She's 10 and in 5th grade. I don't think they are concerned about anything more than what this girl would get from public school. I was thinking along the lines of K12. Any other ideas? I told her I'd email her some information and then, to be honest, I'm out! I don't have time to plan another child's education. :glare: Thank you!
  7. We use it and it works well. We do a list a day and whatever words they miss, I put into a list on Spelling City and they practice it there.
  8. Ugh! I hate it! Especially with the sideways peace sign! Obnoxious.
  9. My ds15 grew out of it when he was 13. We tried everything. Meds, waking him up, etc. We had him stop drinking at 6 and he learned to do laundry well. I used a plastic mattress cover and inexpensive sheets that we washed every day. Dd9 also has accidents, but not as frequently. She sleeps on a blow up mattress and does her laundry when she has accidents and we do a high five when she has dry nights. :001_smile: The air mattress has helped because it makes it easier for her to clean up. I wish we'd done that for ds. We ruined a couple of really good mattresses. They do grow out of it!
  10. Today. It's hard for me to get back into school until it's done.
  11. OK, there's a song about that...I'll try and find it. :D ETA: It's by David Allan Coe You Never Even Called Me By My Name
  12. Well, we have DH (Darren) and ds (Aaron), so I have to really annunciate! It's funny when I think about it, though. I don't usually have to call him anything because when he is home, we are usually in the same room near each other. Gag, I know...:D :001_wub:
  13. So, I have a question... I did pretty well not gaining over the holidays, but I noticed in the mirror the lovely dark circles are darker and my skin is pasty and, just, icky. Do you think the changes already mentioned would help with those issues? Detoxing sounds fabulous! I'll be taking note of this thread, but wondered if anyone had tips for making skin look better and eyes not so blah. (Good lord, where's my thesaurus. I can't even find simple adjectives in my head today.) :tongue_smilie:
  14. I love my Keurig. We use it everyday. The pods are expensive, so we bought the insert that allows you to use regular coffee. I use Folgers.
  15. I look forward to your updates every week. You are well on your way to an elephant's penis!
  16. I voted! It does make a difference having a comfortable place to teach. Good luck!
  17. I'd love to have a Brighton! :drool5: I carry a Coach knock-off. I like it because it's big and it looks like I paid a lot for it, but it's a hand-me-down from my SIL. If I had the money, I'd spend a few hundred on a good purse, but I don't. My curriculum habit is too close to crisis level for me to drop that kind of money on purses. :D
  18. In an effort to help my dd, I have decided to put us all on a WW type food plan. My dd carries most of her weight around her middle which worries me. She's also on the short side. I make most of our meals and keep tabs on their eating mainly for financial reasons. So, I was a little concerned that she has stayed on the heavy side. I found today, as we were getting the trash collected, her trash can full of chip bags and candy wrappers. My meal plans have been a little carb heavy (Ramen, lots of muffins that are cheap to make, etc) but I monitor their portions. Anyhoo...I think it will be good for all of us to have a more balanced diet. I know we need more protein and with careful planning, I can make it budget friendly. So, hit me with your best ideas, links to other threads, blogs, etc. I need some inspiration! :001_smile:
  19. A video game? A wife? :D Seriously, if my DH(42) had the time, he'd play Call of Duty or something like that.
