  1. Our princess turns 7 tomorrow, and she really wants the royal baby to arrive on her birthday! :001_smile:
  2. I'm 36% left and 64% right. It didn't surprise me. I'm highly visual/spatial and definitely a big-picture thinker. My highest score was "random" and my lowest "sequential." I'm also left-handed, so maybe more likely to be right-brained anyway?
  3. Aww, that's so sweet of you to say! Thank you! They work hard at it! They've actually won the festival linked above (Reel Spirit) several years in several categories. It's only a couple of hours from us. Sometimes we travel. We had a great time in Chicago and got to see The Gruffalo before it won an Oscar! It was inspiring to see the group there accepting the award. We wanted to go to San Luis Obispo, but in conflicted with another trip, so we missed it. They ended up winning Best Comedy there, and my DD won Best On-screen Performance. I wish we could've been there!
  4. My kids have been doing films for years and have been in a lot of festivals, but for them, it really is their passion. The festival is always secondary, if that makes sense! It's been a lot of fun, though, and we've met some great people over the years at different ones. Here's a link to their website: http://www.dierenfeldtfilm.com They also have a youtube channel---same name, I think!
  5. We fly quite a bit and never really have any problems. My most recent funny encounter, though, has to be this: My DH went through the first agent with his ID, then our 4 kids went through. I went through last, keeping them between us like always. When I handed the man my ID, he said, "And here's the beautiful Italian!" I said, "Excuse me?" He said, "Well, 4 gorgeous kids with names like those, I figure there had to be a beautiful Italian somewhere...and your husband's already been through..."
  6. Praying for him and your family. It can take a long time to get rid of that completely. :grouphug:
  7. Well, I was born and bred smack dab in the middle of the country...and I love them BOTH!!! LOL, I was actually having this discussion with someone today, as a matter of fact. We go to DW much more often than DL, but DL has my vote for the best castle, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, and Small World. I also love the Monsters, Inc area there. And some of the food choices in the parks are better, too, even though they're fewer! Oh, and my whole family loves the Carousel of Progress! We were looking at a model home once, and I said to everyone, "Hey you guys, what does this house remind you of?" Think of it having a Christmas tree over there and a turkey in the oven..." Everyone guessed it---the Carousel of Progress House!!! The kids quoted it all the way home!
  8. Early May or late May? If it's early May, I might choose that. If it was just Disney and no cruise, I'd say October. But I've been on the cruise in that month, and despite the gigantic-ness of the ship and the fantastic skill of our captain, I was so sea-sick I had to leave our dinner at Palo. :glare: Normally, we cruise in February and do Disney in Oct.-December, sometimes adding days to the cruise. We've been in May and June also; it's starting to really heat up and it's more crowded. Early May would be my preference on the warmer months. HTH!
  9. Ha! I knew which episode you meant, too. Yeah, that one was awful. I miss that show! Scully: "There's something up there, Mulder." Mulder: "I've been saying that for years." ;)
  10. Oh...I just went to Amazon and figured out it's supposed to be real? :confused1: I assumed it was a novel and your BIL was confused.
  11. Well, I love the X-Files, I'm Catholic, and I need a laugh, so you may have just given me my vacation book! I wonder if my library has it...they never have any of the serious things I request, ....so probably.
  12. And Hunter, I totally understand your frustration with pens. :glare: It's so frustrating when a pen works perfectly well for my DH but skips and jumps for me. Ugh. My DS17 is very particular about them and likes a certain kind of micro rollerball.
  13. I and both of my lefties make the horizontal lines during handwriting from right to left, such as in A, H, T, etc. This doesn't cause any confusion with overall left to right orientation for us, but is just a more natural "push" during writing instead of a "pull," if that makes sense. This matters less if your curriculum is completely vertical.
  14. I'm a lefty and so are 2 of our 4 kids. None of us "hook," which as I understand indicates an actual brain dominance that leads to left-handedness. That is, a person who writes with their left hand but hooks their arm over to do so actually has the same brain dominance as a right hander. One of my lefties DS17, is dyslexic, but my other, DD6, isn't. FWIW, my handwriting is gorgeous.
  15. We're supposedly related to Jesse James, Billy the Kid, and Edgar Allan Poe.
  16. Peace to you and your dad, Bill. Glad he's feeling better.
  17. Me, too! Ours lasted for years and years. We took it down when my mom sold her house. It was about 16 years old and still fine. We left it up year-round and just put a cover over it in the winter. This was in MO, so definitely cold! It had a smallish sand filter; I took care of the chemicals. We leveled the ground and put down sand. Our 2 large dogs never bothered it. We had a mole one summer. Once when I was mowing, I saw a large snake creep out of the ground and back in under the pool. That really startled me! It was such a great thing to have. You'll love it. :001_smile:
  18. He's so gorgeous! Congratulations! I had a baby on that date 15 years ago. :001_smile: Try to rest and heal!
  19. You could flip-flop my younger DD's name and have: Mary Alexa :001_smile:
  20. I've been thinking about her and wondering how she's doing. I've loved her wisdom and wit, and I think about the things that she's said here often. I live in her hometown, so I think about the stories of her childhood, too, as I drive around, especially every time I drive by "Ancient Mr. Elling's house." I had no idea the street was named after a person, and the stone house he lived in is still there. Thank you, Kay, for sharing all of your interesting tidbits here. Thinking of you and your family.
  21. Wow. I'm just so impressed by you. I can't imagine dealing with everything you are and working those kind of hours on top of it all. Honestly, I think the Asst. Principal/School Counselor job might be a good thing right now. I think you're wise to listen to your body and mind and consider a break to do something less taxing. What do you think about just letting the PhD plans and the LMFT plans go for a bit and focusing on the school job? The test will always be there. It seems like studying/preparing for it may be stressful, as well. I'm still praying for a transplant. :grouphug:
  22. Absolutely. If there's anything at all that I can do, don't hesitate to let me know. Peace and strength. :grouphug:
  23. Oh, my gosh! Yeah, those wands get so much hotter than regular curling irons! Her hair looked really fine, too, so just a few seconds on a section that small would have been plenty. Did you see her hair turning dark as it started to burn? Maybe I was seeing things, but I thought it started to look burnt to me about half-way through. Poor girl!
