  1. We go to a local school during the holidays for activities so they can meet other kids their own age and practice making friends too. We are also active members of our local church so opportunities are plenty around here for socialization.
  2. Has anyone done Zumba or not? I am thinking of joining a class but unsure yet about that.
  3. Goals for March in terms of exercise: Wean myself off my pregnancy exercise DVDs slowly over the next week. Use the gym more often now. Try and do some walking now that spring is officially here too!

  7. Today is a better day for us. My youngest DC had her trach operation yesterday and I'm hopeful things will improve health wise for her. After a lot of observation, prayers and tests it became painfully clear she needed it badly to survive at home. Today's list of tasks: Pray Laugh about our new lifestyle Research Manage my expectations Happy Saturday everyone!
  8. Good morning Today is a chill out day. We are still in the hospital in the PICU. Hopefully we will have the test results back today. Happy Thursday everyone!
  9. Offices in lock down in London Canary Wharf. A employee of the company returned from a country that is affected and seemed ill so was tested and others have been sent home now as a precaution as well. Full news story here, further updates to come- https://metro.co.uk/2020/02/26/canary-wharf-offices-lockdown-worker-suffers-coronavirus-symptoms-12306334/?ico=pushly-notifcation-small&utm_source=pushly I had no idea how serious this was until now.
  10. Last night, we were readmitted to hospital as my five week old seems to have issues breathing. I timed each of her breaths, and then felt strongly she needed medical attention pronto. It sent me into a mini panic attack each time. I took her to the pediatrician on Monday and described her symptoms clearly to her. This was enough for her to pick up a phone and request we be admitted to hospital for close observation to figure out what is going on. She also seems to have stridor (a honking noise). Now, my partner is at home with the other kids and all lessons are postponed until further notice. And they are about to do a whole lot of tests to determine why she is having issues with her breathing. For now I expect to be here until next week at the earliest. Right now, she is on a machine that records her level of oxygen and this is pretty scary. Please pray for us, I'll write another update when I know more. This is my to do list for the rest of this week Take care of myself Pray Observe her carefully Ask the doctors questions Stay calm and positive (easier said than done) Sleep Shower Eat Distract myself Not fall apart
  11. @SKL I hope the appointment goes well! I have been to many appointments over the past three years, and my first piece of advice is to take something to read or do with you beforehand in the waiting room. Also I recommend taking a list of questions to ask the doctor as well.
  12. This week is a busy one! Today we started earlier than usual, at seven. So lessons are currently suspended until half twelve for lunch. We have done spelling, history, math and geography so far today. This afternoon we will finish with bible study and exercise. On Wednesday, we have a super long clinic appointment for DS, my partner will go with him for once while I work with DD on spelling and math. Have a good week all!
  13. I prefer the informal approach I make up discussion questions on the spot. My oldest is only 3 but this is great.
  14. OP, she is not "broken". Everyone needs help with something. If she was "broken" then my physically disabled 3 year old is also "broken". All of us are different even those who have difficulty with this or that. This is the example I used in a recent discussion with my six year old sister who wanted to know why my son* is a full time wheelchair user. Some people find it difficult to walk due to paralysis so they have to use mobility aids like a wheelchair instead, or braces to walk but it does not mean they are "broken", far from it in fact. *He has open defect spina bifida, it is a T12-L1 lesion.

  19. I am not keen on the idea of outsourcing. We watch educational historical movies etc as a family and talk about social studies as well. A lot of our lessons are done at the dining room table under my close supervision. I plan to add in typing next school year, we will see what happens to that idea. I think that intensive outsourcing kills a child's natural desire to play and plus I need some down time from homeschooling too. What is your goal with the typing? Speed or fluency? Instead of outsourcing that, you can have him type up letters. Additionally, there are free online games that help you work on your typing skills. I recommend googling to see what you can find. Homeschooling is supposed to be flexible, the beauty of homeschooling is that you can try out different options to see what works best for your family.
  20. Do not feel bad. Think of it as good for the soul. In other words, it is cathartic and therapeutic and relaxing too. Too much clutter is not good.
