  1. If you go to the link I provided and copy/paste the Eldon item number into a search engine, it will pop up dozens of online stores you can buy them from (some with free/cheap shipping too). Cindy
  2. That is good to know! Many people purchased it previously believing it would work and could not get it to run, regardless of how much tech support "helped" them :glare: . I see that they did update the title to say it is ONLY for Windows XP (which may be because of all the previous problems). After the horrible experiences I have had with it, I thought I should post a heads-up for those who may not know how to tweak their PC to allow non-compatible programs to run. I now have the previous version running on my kids' computer and it works fine (go figure). Luck of the draw, I suppose. It is SUCH a great deal that even if it doesn't work, you could always resell it (better than losing $$ paying for return shipping to HOP). Cindy
  3. check your computer OS: this particular version will not work with Windows Vista/7 or Mac. They explain that somewhere on their site, but I know from experience it will not install on Vista/7. Otherwise, it is an AWESOME deal! Cindy
  4. There are schedules, notebooking pages, and much more on the yahoo group. Cindy
  5. I bought several of the TIDI files from CLP. It will easily hold 10 lightunits and a teacher guide. Amazon has some similar to the TIDI files. The best thing about cardboard holders is that they are easy to store when you are not using them. Walmart has some Rubbermaid magazine holders made from recycled materials, and they are by far my favorite way to store LU's and workbooks. I could not find them on their web site, but here is a link to show you what they look like. The ones at the link say "Eldon" on the label and the ones at Walmart say "Sanford" on the label, but they are the same.
  6. I recently obtained both of these from Paperback Swap. If you are a member there, you can place them on your wish list as I will be posting them soon (once we finish reading them). Cindy
  7. Most of the R&S spelling levels are available on Paperback Swap pretty much all the time. I have level 6 teacher/student books posted on my bookshelf right now, and a quick search turned up many of the other grade levels (I saw the grade 2 teacher book right on top of the list). If you are not a member, you can post 10 books and receive 2 free credits, so you could order both books for free! Cindy
  8. If you do not mind a Christian curriculum, Christian Light Education has an excellent teachers guidebook. That is what we are using right now and while I know I could probably teach K/1st math on my own, it is nice having it laid out for me. You can see samples of each light unit & the teacher book on their website. Cindy
  9. Try "writing skills" or writing + skills. I did a quick search both ways and the same threads came up. Cindy
  10. There are some great FREE notebooking pages at homechool launch. They are listed as ECW Astronomy ch... They are pdf files and most chapters have several pages. Cindy I almost forgot!!! The yahoo group "Notebooking2Learn" has HUNDREDS of free notebooking pages for Apologia Astronomy, Zoology, & more. You really wanna join this one (it's free to join).
  11. FWIW, you can request a partial refund when you open a PayPal dispute. This is from PayPal User Agreement: I cannot tell you how many claims I have filed with PayPal (that were decided in my favor) that required me to return the items at my expense (with proof of shipping/delivery too) that I never received a refund for. About 30% of the time I would receive a full refund. The other disputes I only received a small portion or nothing at all, since the seller did not have any funds in their account at the time. It is different if you buy from eBay though. Cindy
  12. I had this happen to me when I bought a used Winter Promise instructors guide a few years ago. The seller made their own schedule by copying what was in the guide into a word processing program. When I received the package I realized it was NOTHING like the retail one (and the persons ad stated it was THE guide, not a home made one). Hopefully, that is NOT what happened to the OP :glare: Sorry you had such a bad experience with a purchase! Cindy
  13. Mozilla makes the Firefox browser and I have had ZERO problems with downloads since installing it. It is free, easy to use, and has HUNDREDS of wonderful extensions & add-ons (ad blockers, weather, uploading photos, language translators, way too many to tell here). It is free to download and their support is excellent (I am not affiliated in any way, I simply LOVE my Firefox browser). Internet Explorer could stand to get a few lessons from Firefox! Cindy
  14. Head of the Class is a completely free curriculum with lesson plans, videos, worksheets & activities for grades PreK-3rd (higher grades are coming soon). It takes a little time to figure out, but it is worth the effort (dd is enjoying it and I like the price ;) ) Cindy
  15. There are several on the SL preschool yahoo group (well more than several really). Once you join (free), look under "Files" on the left side of the group home page. Cindy
  16. There are HUNDREDS (at least) of lapbook/notebooking resources on the web for free that correlate with MOH. Homeschool Share has a list you can look through but I found that simply doing a google search for the topic we wanted to do a lapbook on was the most beneficial (Egypt lapbook, Noah's Ark lapbook, Creation lapbook, Daniel in the Lions Den lapbook, etc). One site that has a plethora of History notebooking resources (that could easily be used for lapbooks) is Highland Heritage Homeschool. This link is for Creation to the fall of Rome, but there are pages for Rome to the US Constitution. They were primarily designed for TOG, but we used them with MOH 1 and they fit nicely. Cindy
  17. There are also a couple schedules on the Elemental Science yahoo group combining SOTW w/SL 1 & 2. You have to join, but it's free. It is in the files section under Other Homeschooling Helps--Story of the World.
  18. Here is one combining SL1, MOH & SOTW from my 4shared files. I found it on the web, but I can't remember where! When you get to the link, click the purple "Download Now" button and it will open it (it is a pdf file). There are a couple more I know of & if you specify which levels, I'll dig up the links. Cindy I almost forgot, here is a site that combines SL with several different spines.
  19. There are, but what SL level are you looking to combine it with?
  20. If you have a Home Depot, Lowe's or Walmart nearby, they carry tape measures with the fraction increments on them. You can probably find them at any store that stocks carpentry supplies. Not sure about a ruler though. You may be able to find a square or yard stick with increments. Guess that didn't really answer your question :tongue_smilie: Cindy
  21. The Kindergarten level of Hooked on Phonics has some nice beginning readers. My dd went from sounding out words in the Bob books to actually reading the words with HOP. She just finished Kindergarten and started the 1st grade and the books have really boosted her confidence (she has struggled with learning to read). She likes reading the books over & over for fun (and to show off her newly acquired skill :D). They have the book sets on ebay for less than $20. Or, you can buy the entire deluxe set on ebay (if you can find it complete, as it is an older edition with the game, audio cd's and regular readers plus companion readers). The first grade level starst with blends, but it is not too hard of a transition if you complete the K level. Cindy
  22. Oops! Sorry I took so long to respond. If you check the discussion forums (mainly the one called "Book Bazaar") members will list deals for multiple books for less credits than normal. For instance, right now there is 4 books for 1 credit, or 20 books for 5 credits, or 3 books for 1 credit on kids books.....there are always several offers like this. What you do is order the required number of books and send them a PM with the "extras". It is a nice way to get several books for less credits! There is also a homeschoolers forum where people offer book deals or tell you what curriculum they have posted. Cindy
  23. I LOVE PBS! I have saved hundreds, if not thousands of dollars by getting my homeschooling curriculum there. I only post books that I know will not have much of a resell value (paperbacks, unused workbooks, self-help, etc) AND that are lightweight (the heavier the book, the more it costs to ship). The books I request are generally ones I will use for both dc, or over many weeks/months. I have received dozens of Usborne/Kingfisher books, SL/WP/MFW read alouds, workbooks, even a HUGE DK Animal Encyclopedia (the HB one that used to sell for $29.95 on Amazon). I cannot tell you how wonderful PBS has been for our homeschooling. I have received over 160 books to date (not including freebies from the 3/4/5 books for 1 credit deals) and if you figure an average cost of just $5ppd, that is $800 total (so I have saved a minimum of $480). However, most of the books I request sell for $20 or more so the savings is even higher than that. By the way, you do not HAVE to post books in order to use PBS. I buy credits for about $2 a piece off the discussion boards. I do have books on my bookshelf, but if I need credits, it is cheaper to buy them than it is to list & mail books. My user name is the same as the one I use here, so if you join, send me friend request! Cindy
