  1. Do you have a blog? I would love to read it if you do! I have 2 of them: passionatemotherhood.blogspot.com fitgirlwannabe.blogspot.com Feel free to 'follow' me on my blogs and I'll do the same on yours! Looking for some new blogs to read =)
  2. We own our house, the one next to us is a rental. The neighbors who moved out a few months ago had 2 dogs. One was a BIG barker and not friendly (he was an American Eskimo-they also had a burmese mountain dog who was very friendly). Anyway, whenever we went out in the backyard, the white dog would bark and bark and bark, but after about 5 minutes he would stop unless we got within 3' of the fence in between our yard and theirs. About 50% of the time, if hte kiddos went in the backyard, the owners would take the dogs inside
  3. I can not WAIT for this day!! However my oldest is only 12 and even WHEN she's 16, I'm not sure I'll let her drive without hubs or myself...maybe I'll need to wait another 10 years for the glorious moment you are now enjoying.... =)
  4. I dont think its an age, but if you look in the mirror and think you look good- more power to ya! At your height and weight I would say it would be more than fine. =)
  5. If you have witnessed the other kiddos bullying him, can you video it with your phone next time to show the parents, for proof?
  6. My daughter has a lot of food allergies/sensitivies, corn being one of them which means she can basically eat NOTHING that she gets trick or treating, so we let her trade it in for candy she CAN have that I can buy at Whole Foods or HyVee (a local grocery store)
  7. Hi ladies, if you think of it, could you say a quick prayer for my kiddos tonight or in the morning? I have a doc appt at 10:30 tomorrow morning for all 5 of my kiddos (our once-a-year check up) and we are going to have our allergy kiddos tested again (our 7yr old daughter and 4 yr old son have allergies-my 7yr old to a TON of foods) will you pray that her allergen levels would decrease on her known allergens and that there will be no new allergens for either of them? Thanks!
  8. That's true, Donna (about people placing the items on hold) hadn't thought of that....Thanks for your help!
  9. I have 'George Washingtons World', 'Then sings my soul', and 'Story of the World vol 3' at my library...would it be ok checking it out (I can check it out for 3 weeks and renew up to 4 times), then I can always take it back to check it in and then check it out again I think =) OR do we read those books so often throughout the 9 or so months taht it would make more sense to buy them...?? Thanks!
  10. We are gearing up to start Exploration to 1850 in January. We have done ECC, CTG and are on the last few weeks of RTR. This next set is pricey though and I cant seem to find it used....I dont really want to buy the whole pack if I dont have to. A few of the read alouds are at our library so that helps... Besides the teachers manual and students sheets, what other books did you feel are NEEDED for this curriculum and why? What books did you feel could have been done without, or substituted and why. Thank you!
  11. I made the most AWESOME no bake chocolate chips granola bars-ALLERGY FREE! and they. are. AMAZING!!! I have tried them plain and with craisins too. So good. The recipe is on my blog! Check it out and if you make it, let me know what you think! http://passionatemotherhood.blogspot.com/2012/09/no-bake-allergy-free-chocolate-chip.html
  12. Wow that has to put some pep in your step! Good job, momma!
  13. Ok I am curious too, some posters have said 'some people are just messy poopers' or whatever but I cant for the LIFE of me figure out how someone can be such a messy pooper that the poop is smeared on the seat and lid???? Even if you have wretched diarrhea, there should only be a mess IN the bowl right? I mean you sit on a HOLE, your tush covers the hole....how in the world does the poo go anywhere else???
  14. I live in Omaha! Love it but would love the change of living in a climate like Tampa (I've lived here all my life) but I DO love it here, so if I would PROBABLY still choos here =)
  15. I had 3 of mine out (I thoguht it was 4, but it looks like I may still have one back there under my gum) when I was 18 (I'm 34 now). Local anesthesia, but I did have laughing gas as well. Mine were still all under bone and tissue so they had to dig for them. Oh yeah, and I was suffering from HORRIBLE tmj at the time so my jaw wouldnt allow my mouth to open wide enough to even eat a banana! They had to use the toddler sized mouth bit on me....anyway. I stayed on top of my pain killers afterwards and NEVER had any pain while healing up. I dont remember what I ate or anything, I just remember being amazed that I didnt feel any pain! Prayers for a speedy and PAIN FREE recovery for you!
  16. Hijacking a bit =) I am looking for a INSULATED water bottle (so it doesnt 'sweat' and will keep water cold), BUT I want one that has a straw, not a tip up mouth...anyone know of one? I cant find one anywhere!!
  17. I live in Nebraska and I charge $180/wk for a full time infant. I am a bit higher then most home providers here but none of the full time parents that have used me have ever batted an eye at it. I tout myself as more of a nanny fo their child since my #'s are LOW (I only watch 1-2 babies at a time and my older girls help a LOT so their baby is gettings LOTS of one-on-one care)
  18. I use a Spibelt. No bouncing and it holds a surprising amount of stuff! For me it was cheaper to buy online then in a store
  19. My daughter is allergic to cats and dogs (tested +100 on her blood draw allergy test though she is around dogs in our neighborhood-stopping to pet them-and NEVER has a reaction-her allergies usually manifest themselves as severe eczema).... We know the cats one is valid as when she pets on or they lick her, she gets welts immediately.... We are just wondering, if she is allegic to cats, would she also be allergic to pets like bunnies/hamster/guinea pigs etc..?
  20. we live very close to a pet store so I wouldnt have a problem going weekly or bi-weekly to get them crickets...do they NEED to eat beetles? How much do you think it costs to raise these little guys? Can you hold them like you would an iguana? I thought an iguana would be neat, but hubby thinks they're too big (full grown)
