  1. My daughters ears were infected. I would have her clean them with the cleaning solution they gave her and started doing neosporin. It would look like it was clearing up but then it would get worse. I had bought sterling silver earrings. I just switched to 14k gold and her ears have finally healed.
  2. Start drinking before you go....that way you will be nice and warm and fuzzy inside before you get there. Do what someone else suggested and stash some in the car so when the buzz wears off, you forgot something in the car... If someone asks what you forgot when you came back in, you forgot what you were trying to remember by the time you got in the house. This means you can use that line at least one other time :) Make sure you have mints or drink something they can't smell it on your breath....oh garlic might do.. In fact, garlic breath might just keep everyone at a same distance :) Next time, I wouldn't ask. You are in a no win situation there. I have learned to just let my dh handle his mom's calls. Seriously, if she has a question about what we are doing for such and such and how would it work to do this or that, no matter what we agree too, she will change it or call dh and say that we never decided anything so she is calling to find out whatever it is. I would get what she asked and since they don't care about organic, just go cheap! In fact, is there somewhere she buys her fruit? I would go where she goes and get the fruit, if it is possible, that way it what she normally does and maybe she won't make comments about it. Although, difficult types of people always seem to be able to make comments about something.
  3. My mom used to always get my hair cut short. I looked enough like a boy that people thought my younger brother and I were twin boys. She loved the attention and thought this was funny. I haven't had my hair short since I left for college. My dh thought I looked cute with my hair short, but I just can't go there again. I don't like ironing enough that I told my dh when I married him that he would have to fend for himself since I don't iron and don't buy clothes I have toop iron. We joke about it being part of our vows :tongue_smilie: I don't like mohawks.
  4. I had planned on starting our break on Wednesday next week. So, yes, I am feeling like I am ready.
  5. It is true that it can be dangerous, especially if it isn't tied on right and you aren't careful. Considering the hassle and cost of renting a vehicle (the mattress we bought was from a discount store), and that we don't know anyone who has a big enough truck, this wasn't an option in my dh's mind. In fact, dh would be loathe to pay or ask for help if he thought he could do it himself and save money too! We thought the mattress would fit in our SUV but it didn't. I was totally shocked when we bought a couch and chair that we rented a vehicle. I was just thankful finally got a new mattress :)
  6. How do you do that? I just can't keep up because FB keeps changing everything.
  7. I might have said something like, "I'll change my tone after you give me back the money". I realize that could just create a standoff but sometimes these things just slip out of my mouth.
  8. The first thing I thought of when I read "going curtainless" is: Curtainless is similiar to going underwearless.... Can be revealing, less work since there's one extra item to clean, don't have to worry about getting the correct size.. I am sure there are other ways that those two things compare. This also brings up memories of that thread about wearing vs. non-wearing underwear individuals. I can't remember which was more the UO.
  9. Sounds like you handled it fine too me. Did the child give back the money? I wonder what they will tell their mom and how she will handle it.
  10. I'd complain. I know I can't think straight if I am too cold.
  11. I always liked the original little people. It is too bad now they are too big so kids can't swallow them. We never did. All we did was put them in the central vacuum system we had in our house. I can't tell you all the times we had someone come out to clean out the vacuum system and how many little people they found!
  12. The movie "Being John Malkovich" although clever in some respects, is not one I would like to watch again and again. I wasn't allowed to have a Barbie. Skipper only. I don't like the word "skivvies" for underwear. I also like Lynyrd Skynyrd
  13. Aww...that is so nice. He will really have some good memories of the time he is spending with your family!
  14. Hey! There's an idea...have him help cook and clean in whatever way possible to get ready for company's arrival. If he doesn't want to help, maybe he will leave. ;) After all, family should help family right?
  15. Yep! It's like a miniature wrecking ball.....I am sure that is where Miley got the idea for her song. ;) I can see it now. Miley putting her loose leaf tea in the tea ball, dunking it up and down...and wallah! The idea for her new song is born.
  16. We bought a mattress today. Dh tied it on top of the car. Every so often we would stop and make sure it was still secure since we didn't want it to fall off. Dh stops in a residential area. A guy comes out of his house and says, "Didn't you tie the mattress on the car?". People are so hysterical! No dude, we thought we would see how far we could drive before the mattress fell off the car. Uhh, mattresses are expensive and we are not idiots! Thank you very much! Makes you wonder what all this guy has seen happen as cars have driven by.
  17. If you want to add to the naughty Elf on the Shelf, add Barbie and Elf in the mix together.
  18. I hate doing yardwork. I know some people love to tend their plants and flowers and such. Maybe it is because we had to do so much weeding in the garden growing up. I do however, like looking at what other people have done!
  19. Sometimes, just depends if I am trying to get something done without anyone around or not.
  20. I actually prefer clear lights. However, since we just had to get new bulbs this year, the kids wanted multicolor. The garland I use if from Ten Thousand Villages. It is green, red and white. It is made out of paper.
  21. I would do the easy bake oven. My dd still uses it 4 years later. Go figure. I would have thought she would have used it twice and than moved on.
  22. Same here. I am wondering what happens if you unlike a post you made. Do you get that like back to reuse? That way you could go back to older threads and unlike and gain more posts......
