  1. have you considered using the same level of Shurley with both? I did that with my two oldest. It helps to combine when possible and Shurley lends itself well to it.
  2. :grouphug: Heather :grouphug: If you want to borrow any TOG books (or any other items I may have) give me a holler. Praying for you.
  3. I would delete the file on your desktop, log into the Lampstand store, click store account, and download the file again.
  4. ds9 Math - Horizons 5, Singapore 5, LOF decimals Science - CKEC, Ellen McHenry Botany, Beautiful Feet History of Science TOG year 2 MCT Town level LFC:B and Latin Book One
  5. Recitation? Or come dressed as a character from the book and briefly describe the story in character. Or they could be the author.
  6. It depends on the age of my child. My oldest used DE on his laptop - no prep other than to make sure I had the books. My middle son will not be doing TOG next year (it's not a good fit for him), but I made workbooks for him and my youngest in the past. As I am making workbooks and making decisions about what we will be covering I find making them helps me get an overview of the unit. This year I'm only planning for my ds9 (UG) and I'll make the spiral workbooks for him. I print out all the SAPs, assignment sheets, maps, etc., but I only bind one unit at a time. I like to add extras (a summary of facts I want him to know, copy work, memory work, extra reading) and this way I don't have to make all those decisions in the summer. We are in a TOG co-op so I do zero projects with him at home, but when I did do them home I would loosely pick them out ahead of time and make a supplies list. We're doing Year 2 next year too. I love Year 2.
  7. We used it as a supplement for our grammar-based Latin program. My son loved it.
  8. No. If one has a print copy with DE (as you do) they read the Loom on the computer or print it out. If one gets print only they will receive a cd with the Loom on it to read on the computer or print out.
  9. One downside to this is that books are scheduled by page numbers and they don't match up with the ebooks. If you have time and a small budget this is definitely doable.
  10. Focus on the dialectic level and work your way down. Abraham Lincoln's World This Country of Ours* Our Island Story* From Sea to Shinning Sea* In the Land of the Jaguar* Our Living Constitution Rebuilding the Nation: Picking Up the Pieces The Struggle for Sea Power* Any book on US Presidents will do. I picked one up in the discount bin at Borders for $1. Use one book for all levels. *Questions tied to this specific book Real Aloud, all levels: Commodore Perry in the Land of the Shogun In the Days of Queen Victoria All other levels can use The History of Us and substitute whatever picture books your library has, but these books are helpful: America: Ready-to-Use Interdisciplinary Lessons & Activities - UG South America: the Continent and Its Countries - LG
  11. I have wifi with 3G. You don't have to pay for service and it's nice to have the option to have the 3G if needed. No contracts are required.
  12. Why do you need the tm and student book for Grammar Town, but not necessarily Paragraph Town and Caesar's English? Thanks, Karen
  13. Handwriting (cursive and printing) Outlining Five paragraph essay Reading Latin Tying shoes (hopefully we'll have this down over the summer :tongue_smilie:)
  14. We went lighter compared to other years, but my ds18 still had a pretty rigorous day.
  15. I use Oxford World Atlas of the Past, but I got it on sale from Oxford years ago. It's pricey now. Year 1 I also use Holman Bible Atlas for all levels.
  16. I make workbooks for each unit for my grammar and dialectic children. My dialectic level kids would work independently until it was time for socratic discussion.
  17. I love DE, but I also have a cost effective printer and I print a lot. Unless you pay full price for both DE and Print (or purchase print used and pay full price for DE) you can not sell the print edition.
  18. I did it because omnibus history is light IMHO and at the time I wasn't happy with TOG's rhetoric literature (classic edition). My ds did not read any of the books scheduled in Omnibus I that did not deal with ancient history - no Sproul or Narnia (he read these the year before while we studied TOG year 4) - and he only did the history, church history, geography, and some of the government of TOG. We did use Redesign for history that year, the reason why I stuck with Omnibus is because I fell in love with it. We went back to TOG only the next year. My son did rhetoric level of TOG beginning in 8th grade.
  19. My oldest used it last year. It's a great program, but probably not for everyone (nothing is I guess :001_smile:) There are two ways to use it, the way it is designed is to have Dive drive the program and the student uses a textbook or the Internet to round it out. On the cd are videos, a workbook, exams, answers, and a few other things which I forget. You print out the workbook and students answer the questions contained in it instead of the questions in the textbook. This is what we did. The other way to use it is as a supplement to various textbooks, students answer the questions in the textbook and use the videos for teaching and labs. As April said there is a syllabus online, but it doesn't correspond with any particular text. Scheduled are Apologia, Bob Jones, the Internet, and maybe one other text. We used Bob Jones. It is not easy, ds17 would spend 1.5 hours a day, but he learned a lot. I did not use it with ds16 because he is doesn't do well with self-directed programs. nth, Karen
  20. My husband is self-employed and we live in NJ. The amount of taxes we pay is disgusting.
