  1. I think prices may be cheaper at this website http://www.arn-rs4k.org/
  2. My 3 oldest are in dance at the same studio and dd takes piano, but dh takes her to those. I think you need to see what works for you and your family and definitely don't worry about "keeping up with the Joneses".
  3. I've used it with the oldest 3 and they are all excellent readers. :D
  4. I've always used Zaner-Bloser, but recently I began using A Reason for Handwriting and the kids have enjoyed it.
  5. My son is a natural speller as well. I am using All About Spelling with him because we have it already. I like the fact that it teaches spelling rules/generalizations which helps him to figure out words he's never seen before.
  6. I love the idea, but many times I come to the conclusion that it's difficult to teach what you do not know. So many times I feel as though I'm learning right along WITH the kids and am not sure I would do well enough without a curriculum.
  7. I've been thinking about this as well. It seems as though they all have one or two favorite outfits that they want to wear ALL the time. I'm soon going to hang all of the clothes so that they can see what they have. I go through the dressers and the kids have clothes they didn't even know about. :glare: Not sure I've figured out how much is excessive.
  8. Has anyone used the upper levels for MUS before? Like it? Hate it? Why? Thanks
  9. I was just thinking that I would love to find a hot dog without nitrates. Is that possible, or is that what makes a hot dog taste like a hot dog?:001_huh:
  10. Check out this link...as long as you're not pregnant. :D http://www.scalinis.com/Bambino.htm
  11. Has anyone ever used this? If so what were the strengths and weaknesses of the program? Thanks!:bigear:
  12. My SIL just had to deal with this. Her Dr. suggested that she only give the baby vaccines for sicknesses that she might actually come in contact with.
  13. I think part of the answer lies in what type of learner you have. DD and ds both love to read, but dd doesn't do well remembering how to spell words. I do, however, think that part of this is due to the fact that when she was very little I didn't have her fix her mistakes out of fear that she would no longer enjoy writing. The problem is that she wrote some words so many times the WRONG way that it was ingrained in her mind that way. She learns better from the repetition of writing and learning spelling rules.
  14. sorry to post this twice, I got kicked off the first time and didn't realize it had gotten posted
  15. Next year I plan to use RS4K as a spine and was wondering if anyone has supplemented with "Good Eats" before. Debbie
  16. I'm planning to use RS4K Chem level 1 next year. Has anyone used the show "Good Eats" along with a chem spine before?
  17. My 8yr ds recieved this version for Christmas. I especially like it because it is still in the form of a poem. http://www.homeschooldiscountproducts.com/servlet/Detail?no=618
  18. Does anyone do year round school? I want to try it, but am looking for some suggestions as to how to plan a typical week/quarter. Do you think it is reasonable to try and do just a half day of school most of the year? Thanks, Debbie
  19. We've tried Matin Latin and recently switched to The Great Latin Adventure. It's less teacher intensive and also has derivatives, so my 11yr dd and 8 yr ds are also expanding their english vocab. Check out the website. It has a good number of sample pages to look over. http://classicallegacypress.com/product_details/GLA_L1_Stu.htm
  20. I am looking for some mysteries for my 6th grader to read. She loves Nancy Drew, but I am looking for something more educational. So far I've run across the Roman Mysteries Series and the Lady Grace Mysteries. Any other historical fiction mysteries (we're about to the time of Julius Caesar) or maybe something that would help to increase vocabulary, but staying away from murders would be great. Thanks for the help.
  21. Thanks! I'll look into it.
