Good morning!

Another soaking wet day here. I'm thankful for our boot- and glove-dryer, which has been running nonstop.

My lab puppies love the rain and are having loads of fun splashing around in giant puddles. My other dogs can't stand to get wet and won't even leave the porch. :)

take ds2 to cc

Morning, all!

It's 32 degrees here this morning!  Not feeling that hot this morning, turned the car around and came home for a little bit.  Insulin is giving me a morning sickness type feeling...weird.  I guess I should call the doctor?  Anyone have this experience?

To do:

work?

walk dog #2

gather books for library, make list for reading challenge

sign dd up for rec classes (art, music)

start chicken in the crockpot around 12, eat after going to the gym

submit more online work for dd

read, relax

Have a great day!

Got back from a mini vacation over the long weekend. Driveway was covered in slushy snow, easy to scoop up. Today will be in 50's, warmest temp in quite a while.

Dd and I went antiquing over the weekend (yes, again). We were in a town that is a Mecca for antiques, but $$$. (Since I began going to auctions regularly, I have got quite picky about prices.) No purchases, but took a lot of photos of nicely framed pictures, ideas for my own framing.

Then, on the way home, we drove through another town. Dd spied an old house with a glassed in porch that had windows lined with china and a small Antiques sign. I slammed on the brakes and turned into the little parking area. Oh, my! The place was crammed full of things at very low prices, which owner promptly discounted. We found, not one, but two framed needleworks for dd's room, one a sampler. And I wished that I had an empty wall -- there was a fair bit of blue and white transferware with American Revolution scenes, Washington crossing the Delaware, Paul Revere's ride, and so is on. Alas, I have no place to display that sort of thing....

Today is just stuff around the house. I did multiple loads of laundry when we got home yesterday, so that is finished and put away.

ETA

Buy some healthy fish and veggies for dinner. I miss my own cooking!

Good morning!  I was up almost all night, so I tried to sneak a morning nap after sending the girls off to school.  Managed to get 2 hours in before I was woken for a conference call.  :P

I don't have much exciting to talk about today.  Just work.  And figuring out my kids' Friday afternoon arrangements now that bowling season has started.

Hmm, if I get any time home alone, I should try the art project I am planning to do with the scouts on Thursday.  I have never done this sort of thing and have no idea of the right way to make colored sand designs stick to a surface.  I might be asking about it on the chat board if my initial attempts don't work.  :P

Good morning, it’s rainy and dreary. School canceled for the girls due to the rain melting the snow and making some roads a slushy mess. The school stuff will be copy and pasted through out the week.

- coffee.... lots of coffee

- history discussion and 2 replies- initial post done

- read history chapter 7

- history notes and ch. review questions

- history quiz

- history videos (he posted clips of the HBO John Adams series, I recorded the entire series over the weekend so I will just watch what I recorded)- watched 1/2 an episode

- read primary documents and journal thoughts about those- 2/13 done (I’m a week behind on this)

- start history issue paper due 3/4, turn into online writing lab for 10 extra credit points

- read/notes/chapter reviews for chapters 5-9 in microbiology

- read over staining procedures microbiology labs for quiz next week

- unit 3 and 4 questions for microbiology that are online and assigned as homework- 30 out of 45 complete for unit 3 (I did all the video ones and answered the ones I knew)

- unit 3 and 4 study modules (if we complete these we get 20 points head start on exams)

- lab exercises 13, 18-25, and 32-35 (labs 23-25 and 32-35 are just annwering questions not based on results as we have not completed the labs yet)- 18-22 are done, waiting on feedback on how to record the results since we didn’t do the experiments as directed by lab manual. 13 is done, did (results recorded and questions). The questions done for 23-25 and 32-35

- tidy living room- round 1 done

- tidy kitchen- round 1 done

- dishes- dishwasher unloaded and dirty put in though not enough to run

- laundry- load in dryer

- fold/put away laundry- done except load being washed

- dinner- done

- anxiously await delivery of my amazon order (I have 4 books and a bookmark for me, and a book each for the girls and bookmarks for dd1 (though I will have dd1 give dd2 one of her bookmarks), and dh’s new socks)- I got it and now I’m motivating myself to get labs 24 and 25 done (just answering the questions that are not based directly on the results as we have not done the labs yet) and to finish notes for chapter 5 in microbiology before I can start reading one of my new books- actually finished all the lab questions , did the vocabulary for ch. 5, there was a lot.

- baths/showers- girls done

- bedtime routine

- anything else I get done- organized school stuff

Just got back from taking Buttercup to the vet. She's much improved since last week and is pretty much back to being her feisty little self. However, the vets are concerned about a lipoma on her throat that has been growing and could potentially put pressure on her trachea, nerves and carotid artery. They recommended that it be removed and had time in their schedule to do the surgery today, so I left her there and will pick her up at the end of the day.

There is so much flooding throughout our county - it's just awful. Many roads are underwater and lots of building damage, etc., and the rain is supposed to continue for another 12 hours.

I was going to like your post, except for the flooding and Buttercup. Is the flooding due to rain only, or are there waterways nearby? It sounds awful.

It is such a relief to eat our own food. We had a late breakfast of scallion and fresh herb omlettes, made from good poultry farm eggs, and perfectly ripe TJ avocados, sliced, but unadorned. I feel so full and healthy. This last weekend we ate the free hotel breakfast. I have no idea what is in hot table scrambled eggs, but they left me feeling bloated and hungry at the same time. And I had to drink multiple glasses of OJ to wash down the sodium laden sausage patties and home fries. Which makes me crave salty junk food. Vicious circle. I never used to mind this stuff, but since we have moved to a more healthy diet, the difference is shocking.

It's both. We have lots of creeks and rivers and we've gotten continual heavy rain for two days. Plus, there was about a foot of snow on the ground that has melted and added to the flooding. It's also very hilly here, so water has been rushing down off the hills.

I'm very thankful that our house is high up on a ridge, so no flood worries for us. I just hope the roads into town will stay open so I can pick Buttercup up later this afternoon. :)

Selkie, I hope Buttercup is doing better!

Alessandra, isn't it amazing what that type of eating does to you?  I am always amazed after a round of Whole30, that first meal out.  I feel so disgusting and bloated, and then am up half the night because of who knows what additives and stuff.

Ok, enough procrastinating.  Off to start my workout.

Oh, it sounds like a pretty landscape. Glad to hear that you are on a ridge. I have a relative in Houston who has always escaped flooding because she lives in a high area -- in Houston that means only a few inches higher, but it makes all the difference.

Exactly! I was starved the entire weekend, finished the Bagged salmon, apples, and other items I brought, then moved on to Doritos and peanut m & ms. Ugh! Even healthy sounding things simply have more salt and carbs than I am used to now. It's amazing how satisfying 'real' food is, even when it is not at all fancy.

Well, I tackled it.

Did the

  • CSA run
  • Worked for hours on work schedule only to have it all possibly change again
  • Got a massage :) :) :)
  • Talked dh into making omelettes for dinner since we have nothing else thawed. (My fault)
  • Sipping green tea now while I self-righteously look over my (few) accomplishments of the day
  • Will watch Olympics later
