Just Kate
Going to my BFFs tonight to celebrate Christmas and we thought it might be fun to have a cocktail while there. She isn’t a big wine drinker, so taking a bottle of wine isn’t an option. Thinking of something simple and fruity. Suggestions?
marbel
Oh I love fun cocktails! Here is a simple Cosmopolitan from Smitten Kitchen: https://smittenkitchen.com/2018/12/cosmopolitan/ The blog A Couple Cooks has a lot of cocktails; you can search by the liquor you want to use. https://www.acouplecooks.com/category/recipes/drink-recipes/cocktails/ ETA: Here's another one I like. It includes simple syrup which makes it a little more complicated but it's just a little more work ahead: https://themodernproper.com/spiced-bourbon-cocktail Edited December 30, 2023 by marbel
goldberry
Just saw this, but I started making cocktails during COVID and it's a hobby now! My favorite super-easy is Malibu coconut rum and orange pineapple juice. The juice comes in little cans in the juice section. We do 2 shots rum and one can of juice. You can also add vodka or peach schnapps. Another good one if you only have vodka is vodka, cranberry juice and 7up. 2 shots vodka, equal parts juice and 7up. I do all of these in a tall glass with ice. 2
whitestavern
Mules! Can make any flavor really. I’m partial to cranberry, fig, or standard Moscow. Just use a flavored vodka with ginger beer and lime juice. 1
mmasc
Vodka Mojito is my favorite! (It’s not “sweet”, but it is light and refreshing!) 1
Faith-manor
We love whiskey sours. We make them very simply. We make a tart lemonade with with a little agave for the sweetener and a shot of bourbon.

Then we bought a big bottle. Mmm so good! I may try this one tonight! We always have cranberry juice around. Just Kate
Thanks for all the suggestions!! I ended up following @goldberry suggestion and made a cocktail with vodka, sprite, and cranberry juice. I found a recipe online that matched this, but added orange juice, which was very good! I added some frozen cranberries and an orange slice in each drink and it was so pretty and festive! Oh and I was able to omit the vodka for my 16 yo dd and she loved it with just the sprite, cranberry juice, and oj. Saving all of the other suggestions for future use. Thanks!!
