kbutton
Anyone get some of the symptoms of PMS (cramps, etc.) without having a cycle or with nearly unnoticeable spotting? If so, did you normally have cramps when your cycle was normal? Thanks!
MercyA
Yes, absolutely. Not every month but once in a while I'll be sure my period is starting (cramps, light bleeding, irritability), then...nothing. I'm 49 and right now my periods are coming about every 3-4 months.
Katy
Take a pregnancy test just in case.
regentrude
Yes. Every few months. Feels exactly like period coming on, only it doesn't. Except, sometimes it does.

kbutton
I rarely got cramps before peri (maybe twice a year), so I wasn’t sure what was normal. Thanks!

The cramps are not bad; they’d not be that noticeable if I didn’t also have a migraine and tension headache simultaneously as well as achy joints and sinus pressure from nearby “weather.”
prairiewindmomma
Yes, and no the cramping during regular cycles for most of my menstrual life. I feel like I've been thrown back to what my first years of cycling were like---migraines, cramping, mood swings and all.

Take a pregnancy test.

I’ve had plenty of irregular cycles for years, and it’s more achy than anything.
SKL
Early in perimenopause, I would feel exactly the way you feel when you're starting your heavy flow. I'd only find out later that there was nothing there. Inconveniently, this happened during international travel, so I'd over-protect in case of heavy flow with no bathroom access. Glad that stage of life is over!
