Pen
My son has very wide feet and needs black shoes dressy enough for job fairs (interviews, dances...) and comfortable enough for a lot of walking. Also they should also be easy care and able to handle a bit of rain . We are in muddy Pacific NW I don’t have a shoe store for this sort of thing so need to be able to order from Zappos or Amazon I am wondering about “Thorogood” as a company which seems to have some possible models that come in wide. For style maybe a lace-up oxford? Some seem to be in a faux shiny patent simulated leather called “poromeric” which is maybe too dressy, but otoh looks like maybe they just need wiping, not polish to stay nice looking? There are slip ins and athletic shoe designs that look more comfortable, but I don’t know if that is business like enough—probably not Today is a day when cyber gremlins won’t let me link examples Edited October 18, 2018 by Pen

Kassia
My sons wear Dockers from Kohl's (they come in wide) https://www.kohls.com/search/wide.jsp?CN=SizeRange:Wide&search=dockers wide dress shoes&S=1&PPP=60&kls_sbp=59922581924522085324163346768303035107&pfm=search refine When they were teens and still growing, I got them men's dress shoes at Walmart - the George brand. They were cheap and good enough but I don't think they come in wide sizes. They are available online. SamanthaCarter
My ds seems to always end up with deer stags. They are inexpensive and seem to hold up well to wear. (Ds grows out of them before they show any significant wear) here are the ones he wears for choir concerts: https://www.amazon.com/Deer-Stags-Slip-Little-Black/dp/B00MOD2XTM/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1539888936&sr=8-2-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=deer+stags+boys+dress+shoes&psc=1 these are the ones he wears for church: https://www.amazon.com/Deer-Stags-Stadium-Slip-Little/dp/B00COCEGVQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1539888936&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=deer+stags+boys+dress+shoes&dpPl=1&dpID=41ErvRO6qJL&ref=plSrch
73349
NewBalance.com has some options, like the 626v2 on the more casual end of what you're looking for. The postal shoe is more expensive but dressier. Edited October 18, 2018 by whitehawk
alisoncooks
1 hour ago, Pen said: https://www.zappos.com/p/thorogood-uniform-classics-oxford/product/8909738 Those are very, very shiny. To me, they look too dressy (like for a black tie event). If you like that style, what about something like these: https://m.zappos.com/p/dr-scholls-work-roberts-black/product/9068860/color/3 Or these look good for weather protection: https://m.zappos.com/p/timberland-pro-valor-duty-oxford-soft-toe-black-smooth-leather/product/8907982/color/104 Edited October 18, 2018 by alisoncooks
Pen
Thanks all above. I put a men’s size deer stags and a few of your other ideas into an Amazon Prime Wardrobe order to try on at home. Hav not yet pressed order so can still take other ideas.
Suzanne in ABQ
Ecco shoes are super comfortable because they're made like athletic shoes on the inside, but are made of leather so they look like dress shoes (some styles more than others) on the outside. They're made for the European/Scandanavian market, so they're meant to be walked in all day. My young adult offspring love them. (I don't know about wide sizes)
prairiewindmomma
Ecco brand, brogue style. Dh wears them 12-14h/day.
Pen
I wish the Ecco shoes came in wide. They look great and it could be worth cost if comfort would increase wearing. I’m concerned about only medium width.
prairiewindmomma
I thought they had wides...maybe not. Rockport and Clark’s both have wides for sure. If his feet have stopped growing, then I would buy a quality shoe given his wide width and the amount of walking. You are also more likely to get a quality leather that will wipe up well.
Arcadia
Nunn Bush has wide sizes and they lasted many years for my husband. The shoes have survived day trips to make snowmen. https://www.amazon.com/Nunn-Bush-Cameron-Casual-Walking/dp/B000G2AZQG
Pen
He ended up with a pair of Ecco shoes he loves for their style I hope they are wide enough not to hurt his feet. He says they are comfortable.
