airforcefamily
Sorry for all the posts lately but I'm so excited to start in earnest soon after a couple year hiatus from homeschooling. I'm a total nerd when it comes to school supplies so I've been putting off getting anything so I can have one big, fun day of shopping for pencils and notebooks and all those things. I have a good idea what I like but I always like reading what works well for others. I thought it would be fun if those who wish could cut and paste this list and fill in their favorite after each item. Feel free to add more to your list. Thanks! Pencils Pens Preschool size pencils Everyday crayons Everyday colored pencils Everyday markers Hi lighters Rulers Erasers, cap Erasers, big White out Liquid glue Glue sticks Stapler Tape Spiral notebooks Composition books Binders Folders Printer paper Lined paper Kid/safety scissors Regular scissors Art crayons Art colored pencils Art markers Tempra/poster paint Watercolor paint Pencil sharpener, manual Pencil sharpener, electric Printer Laminator Basic calculator Graphing calculator Edited July 4, 2017 by airforcefamily

Arcadia
Pencils - Ticonderoga yellow ones are my kids favorite, they didn't like the black ones. Erasers, big - Staedtler Mars Plastic and Pentel Hi-Polymer Liquid glue - Elmers Tape - 3M Scotch transparent tape Binders - Avery Pencil sharpener, manual - Dollar store Pencil sharpener, electric - the libraries' sharpener which could be a Staples or Bostitch, my kids do their homework at the library Basic calculator - Casio fx-115ES which my kids prefer and used for ACT and SAT Graphing calculator - my kids use TI84 CE because it was on sale. No complains and older used it for AP Calculus BC exam. My kids hate spiral notebooks and would take the spiral out of the notebooks so my 10 cents back to school supplies Staples notebooks become loose leaf lined paper instead. HomeAgain
That's a really long list! Here's mine broken a little differently:Preschool:Lyra Ferby Stockmar Triangular mechanical pencils (Papermate I think) Plain white chalk (gives more writing resistance than pencil or crayon) Everyday supplies: mechanical pencils, in bulk. It doesn't matter the brand. They're just going to get lost anyway and I'll find half a dozen scattered under the couch. Crayola everything whatever glue sticks/glue is on sale. the pens I scrounge up around from last year Art: mid quality from Michael's. They're not going to be used responsibly for a few years yet anyway, and the 40% off coupons I get make it pretty sweet. Other things: Highlighter flags Sparknotes blank study cards Binder rings (to make personal study lists with the Sparknotes cards)

happypamama
This year I bought: Many 24 packs of Crayola crayons for my little guys Many 12 packs of Crayola colored pencils for my bigger guys (they use them for mapwork, and green and blue get used a lot) Glue sticks and small bottles of glue Composition books -- we use those for all assignments that have writing Pencil boxes Sticky tabs Bic black pens -- except for correcting work, I only use those pens Staples -- because my 5yo makes many many many little booklets and goes through a lot of staples I already had on hand plenty of: Scissors in various sizes Construction paper Lined paper for practicing cursive Various art papers Printer ink and paper Washable paint and brushes (the stuff ACMoore carries) Ticonderoga pencils Pencil top erasers Bigger packs of Crayola colored pencils that my big kids use for drawing, but they like to keep those in their rooms, so the small packs stay down in the schoolroom. Index cards Old fashioned wall mounted pencil sharpener Laptop chargers -- we have three laptops and about five chargers so we don't have to unplug those all the time. I still need to pick up a few 1" and 1.5" white binders with the clear windows. I use those for the kids' portfolios. Dmmetler
When DD was younger, the list was longer. Now, her list is: A binder for each class. College rule notebook paper Graph paper Printer paper Twist-type mechanical pencils (Papermate) Twistables colored pencils Sharpie markers Index cards Posterboard Computer with headset and printer Cell phone with planner app Headphones for campus computers Backpacks for CC days (we've found that it works best to have one for M-W and one for T-Th with the necessary supplies in each.) There are also supplies and gear for Chem lab, but that's "pay the money and the instructor gets the kit for each kid." I kind of miss the days of gluesticks and enough crayola crayons to build a house with the boxes! We do still have all those basics, but they get used rarely now. Mrs Twain
If you are buying paint, then you should also get paper for art projects. I like the thick watercolor paper which I buy from Michael's or another art store.

Dmmetler
Which planner app does she recommend? She just uses Google calendar, where she can add reminders and memos. It also syncs to our family calendar.

Staedtler erasers and pencil sharpeners Faber-Castell jumbo grip triangular pencils Varsity fountain pens (DS) Papermate Liquid Flair extra fine point pens (me) the Elmer's glue sticks that go on purple and dry clear correction tape instead of fluid (brand is less important).
